Friday scent of the day 4/19

Posted by Robin on 19 April 2024 158 Comments

Happy Friday and happy Dutch-American Friendship Day! Our community project for today: we’re off to the Netherlands (aka Holland)! Wear a perfume that is named for a place in the Netherlands, or that reminds you of a (real or imaginary) trip to the Netherlands, or that features a local ingredient, or ?

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

After reading Cutting-edge tech made this tiny country a major exporter of food in The Washington Post (fun fact: The Netherlands, “which is a bit bigger than Maryland … has become the world’s second largest exporter of agricultural products by value behind the United States”) I decided to go with Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Kaleidoscope for the connection to greenhouse vegetables…*

It’s Friday and the International Day of Human Space Flight. Birthdays: Beverly Cleary, Herbie Hancock, David Letterman, David Cassidy. Our community project for today: it’s National Licorice Day. You know what to do!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Friday scent of the day 4/5

Happy Friday, and happy National Caramel Day and Star Trek: First Contact Day! Birthdays: Booker T. Washington, Bette Davis. Our community project for today is salt & pepper…wear a fragrance with salty notes, pepper notes, or both. (Thanks go to Calypso for the suggestion!)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I had a dickens of a time finding it, but I’m in Calvin Klein Reveal for salt and pepper. My sample is no longer in pristine shape, but I’m still surprised this one did not sell better…

Happy Friday! It’s also National Vietnam War Veterans Day. Birthdays: Pearl Bailey, Astrud Gilberto, Eric Idle. Our community project for today: celebrate Astrud Gilberto’s birthday by wearing Robert Piguet Fracas (her favorite), or wear a fragrance that fits her music, or ?

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in vintage Fracas. I expect I’ll hear Astrud Gilberto on the radio before the day is out…

Friday scent of the day 3/22

Posted by Robin on 22 March 2024 199 Comments

It’s the first Friday of Spring 2024. (Also, World Water Day and William Shatner’s birthday.) Our community project for today: wear a spring floral, or any fragrance that says spring to you (if you’re in the southern hemisphere, adjust accordingly.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Jour d’Hermès (again), although if I could find it, I’d be in Frédéric Malle En Passant (I included both in 5 perfumes: pretty spring florals)…
