Friday scent of the day 9/6

Posted by Robin on 6 September 2024 146 Comments

Happy Jolie Laide Friday! (Also, National Coffee Ice Cream Day and National Read a Book Day.) Our community project for today: wear a jolie laide perfume, howsoever you wish to interpret the term (for help, though, you can see The Unfairest of Them All at The New York Times.) Thanks go to austenfan for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in the OG jolie laide fragrance, Guerlain Jicky…

Friday scent of the day 8/30

Posted by Robin on 30 August 2024 141 Comments

Happy Friday, happy National Toasted Marshmallow Day and National Slinky Day, and welcome to Labor Day Weekend! Our community project this week: wear the fragrance you think you probably wore the most — or wish you’d worn the most — for summer 2024 (or if you’re in the southern hemisphere, for winter 2024).

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

The fragrance I wore the most this summer was an unscented lotion that I have (liberally) doctored with sweet orange and ylang ylang oils. It’s Friday, National Sponge Cake Day and the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition. And around here, it’s Cypress Friday. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with a cypress note.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in good old Diptyque Tam Dao…

Happy Mood Changer Friday! (Also, National Roller Coaster Day.) Our community project for today: wear a perfume that instantly changes your mood. Thanks to pixel for the idea!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Me, same old: I am on a road trip this week and will be behind in all the usual ways (posting will be light, I will be even slower than my usual slow to read comments and attend to emails). My fragrance, possibly for the whole week, is my DIY lotion with blood orange & ylang ylang. No points for me this week although my lotion does make me happy…

Friday scent of the day 8/9

Posted by Robin on 9 August 2024 253 Comments

It’s Friday, plus National Book Lovers Day. Birthdays: Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, P. L. Travers, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, Tove Jansson, Michael Kors, Whitney Houston. Our community project for today: we’re off to Greece! Wear a perfume that is named for a place in Greece, or that reminds you of a (real or imaginary) trip to Greece, or that features a local ingredient, or ? [If you need more ideas, see Plants of Greek Myth links from Glanny’s comment on Tuesday.]

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

No points for originality, but I’m in Diptyque Philosykos…
