Posted by Robin on 15 November 2024 150 Comments

It’s Friday, plus National Bundt Cake Day, Steve Irwin Day and Georgia O’Keeffe’s birthday. Watch for the Beaver Supermoon tonight…it’s the last supermoon until October 2025. Our community project this week: wear a fragrance with tonka bean, if you have one.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Hermès Vetiver Tonka…

Happy Friday, plus happy National STEM Day and National Cappuccino Day. Birthdays: Bram Stoker, Minnie Riperton, Bonnie Raitt, Kazuo Ishiguro, Rickie Lee Jones. Our community project for today: for the 10th anniversary of our Friday projects (give or take a few months), we’re repeating the first one we did, way back in 2014… think of your favorite fragrance note (or one of them, if you can’t narrow down), wear your favorite fragrance that features that note, and tell us about it. Thanks go to happy888cat who noticed the anniversary!

Me: still out of town without any perfume, and zero points for my DIY lotion with ylang and sweet orange, but extra points for massive ice cream consumption yesterday (and which I hope to repeat today). After lunch I had a scoop of Roasted Banana and a scoop of Guava from Mimi’s Handmade in Arlington; after dinner I had a scoop of Banana and a scoop of Dark Chocolate Fondente at the Pitango in Penn Quarter DC. I will be on a diet next week…

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Peace, happiness and good luck on a November 1 where we’re expecting a high of 78F: Hermès Le Jardin de Monsieur Li…

Happy Friday and happy International Artist Day, aka Pablo Picasso’s birthday. A quick reminder that the next splitmeet will be a week from tomorrow, on 2 November. Meanwhile, we’re off to Turkey! Our community project for today: wear a perfume that is named for a place in Turkey, or that reminds you of a (real or imaginary) trip to Turkey, or that features a local ingredient, or ?

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m quite happily on day 2 of L’Artisan Parfumeur Traversée du Bosphore…

Friday scent of the day 10/18

Happy Friday and happy National Chocolate Cupcake Day! Birthdays: A. J. Liebling, Anita O’Day, Chuck Berry, Martina Navratilova, Wynton Marsalis. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that evokes one of Pantone’s picks for the Autumn/Winter 2024/2025 NYFW Color Palette. (If you like, click through to the article and pick your fragrance based on the color name or description rather than the color itself, as in “Tomato Cream, a nourishing toasty hue that warms the soul.” or “Italian Plum, a deep dark purple full of magical energies.”)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Le Labo Bergamote 22 for Golden Palm, although now that I’m wearing it I’d say the color match isn’t perfect. Oh well, I smell great…
