Friday scent of the day 12/20

Posted by Robin on 20 December 2024 139 Comments

Happy Friday and happy National Sangria Day! It’s also International Human Solidarity Day, and there are 11 more days to go for 2024. Meantime, welcome to the Holiday Special! Our community project for today: wear a perfume inspired by or based on a holiday — any holiday! — or wear a perfume that seems perfectly suited to the holiday of your choice. Thanks to therabbitsflower for the suggestion.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Fendi Theorema, a perfume that makes any day feel like a holiday. It is nearly always what I wear on Christmas…

Happy Friday the 13th! It’s also National Violin Day and National Hot Cocoa Day. Birthdays: Mary Todd Lincoln, Emily Carr, Ella Baker, Dick Van Dyke, Jamie Foxx. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with ginger, if you have one.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Happy Friday and happy Saint Nicholas Day! It’s also Ira Gershwin’s birthday, and in Canada, it’s the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. We’re doing Plus One Friday….our community project for today: wear your favorite layering combination, or try a brand new one. (We’ve done variations on this project before.)

What fragrance(s) did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Again I meant to experiment but instead I’m in another tried and true combo: Terre d’Hermès and Kelly Caleche…

Happy Friday and happy Native American Heritage Day! It’s also National Square Dancing Day. Birthdays: Louisa May Alcott, Clive Staples Lewis, Madeleine L’Engle and Chadwick Boseman. Our community project for today: pick your Black Friday poison…wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it’s too expensive. (We’ve done this project several times.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in a fragrance I refused to buy because it was too expensive when I tried it back in 2008…Monocle + Comme des Garçons Scent One: Hinoki. It is currently $120 for 50 ml, which all these years and industry changes later, seems comically cheap…

It’s Friday and National Cranberry Relish Day. Birthdays: Abigail Adams, André Gide, Hoagy Carmichael and Billie Jean King. Our community project for today: we’re off to Nepal! Wear a perfume that is named for a place in Nepal, or that reminds you of a (real or imaginary) trip to Nepal, or that features a local ingredient, or ?

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I did some reading this week about traditional Nepalese rope incense (short starting point here if you are interested), and decided on Chanel Bois des Iles for the sandalwood note…
