Friday scent of the day 10/31

Posted by Robin on 31 October 2014 186 Comments

Halloween Jack O Lanterns

Happy Halloween! Our community project today: wear your quirkiest or weirdest or spookiest fragrance. And if you live somewhere where children trick or treat, tell us what candy you’re giving out this year. Or, if you’re dressing up, tell us about your costume!

I’m wearing The Voice of Reason from Lush. It is really only weird in the opening, but the opening is pretty darned weird. I think it might be one of the set that got axed, but I’m not positive. And we are giving out M&Ms. We don’t get many trick or treaters, so I expect I will eat most of them, eventually…

Gucci Uomo fashion campaign

Yay, it’s Gender Wars Friday! Our community project for today: wear something marketed to your gender opposite. Wearing something marketed as unisex gets partial credit. What did you pick?

I’m wearing the original Gucci Pour Homme (2007 2003, and not to be confused with Gucci Pour Homme II or Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme!), which Kevin said reminded him of the Japanese traditional incense blends he uses: simple combinations of woods and subtle spices. It is sadly discontinued, and today I’ve sadly used up my last few drops…

Jean Patou Joy

It’s finally Friday! Our community project for today: wear one of the perfumes included in Michael Edwards’ Perfume Legends (I’ve added a complete list at the end of the book review), or wear any fragrance from 1992 or before. What did you pick?

As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you aren’t participating in the community project.

I’m wearing vintage Jean Patou Joy extrait from the 1960s. From Perfume Legends, quoting Elsa Maxwell’s autobiography…

Lalique Nemours bowl

Our community project for today: wear a fragrance you discovered via a blog or other online review, and link to the review if you can. Bonus points for linking to a site other than Now Smell This!

As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you aren’t participating in the community project.

I’m wearing Lalique Encre Noire, which I bought unsniffed after reading a review at Bois de Jasmin. Do comment if you’ve smelled the new-ish Encre Noire Sport, which I’m still curious about…

Tom Ford fashion campaign, 2013

It’s Purgatory Basket Friday! Our community project for today: find a sample you haven’t been able to make up your mind about, give it a second chance.

As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you aren’t participating in the community project.

I’m wearing Tom Ford Santal Blush. I said when I reviewed it in 2011 that I liked it, thought it cost too much, and didn’t think I’d lose any sleep over it…
