No points for wearing something expensive that you bought cheaply via a sample or decant or somesuch! We’re trying to find real bargains here.

I’m wearing The Body Shop White Musk Libertine. It is $24 for 30 ml, but only if you don’t wait for one of The Body Shop’s frequent sales. I paid $12 for my bottle.

It’s Friday! Unsniffed Friday, no less. Our community project: wear a perfume you bought before you’d smelled it, and tell us how it worked out for you.

I’m wearing Carthusia Mediterraneo, the first fragrance I ever bought unsniffed. I loved it right away, and I still love it (I’ve had to replace the original bottle), but I’ve since learned the hard way that I’m really not very good at buying unsniffed (the first unsniffed bottle I laid my eyes on when I went searching through my cabinet was the barely touched 100 ml bottle of Hermès Un Jardin après la Mousson)…
It’s L’Effet Angel Friday! Our community project for today: wear Thierry Mugler Angel, an Angel flanker or spawn of Angel (i.e., something influenced by Angel), with partial credit for wearing another Mugler fragrance. What fragrance did you choose?
I’m wearing Thierry Mugler Angel, the original Eau de Parfum, straight up. Admittedly, I’m wearing a tiny amount, applied with a q-tip.
It is a testament to Angel that this week’s project caused more upset than any we’ve done so far…
Another work week over! It’s time for our Friday community project. Today we’re doing “down the rabbit hole Friday”: wear the perfume that turned you into a perfumista (whatever that means to you). What did you pick, and why?
I’m wearing Diptyque Philoskyos, which was in the very first sample set I ever ordered online — from Aedes, if I remember correctly. The first full bottle I bought was Parfums de Nicolaï Balle de Match, but Balle de Match was really just a nicer, more sophisticated version of the sort of fragrances I was already wearing. Philosykos, my second full bottle purchase, expanded my idea of what a personal fragrance ought to smell like…
