Friday scent of the day 2/28

Posted by Robin on 28 February 2025 161 Comments

It’s Friday and the last day of February, plus National Chocolate Souffle Day. Birthdays: Linus Pauling, Frank Gehry and Bernadette Peters. And here comes the sun! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with a solar or “sun-warmed skin” note.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum…

Friday scent of the day 2/21

Happy Friday and happy International Mother Language Day. Birthdays: Anaïs Nin, WH Auden, Nina Simone, John Lewis, Alan Rickman. Our community project for today: we’re doing Bucket List Friday…think of a place you’d like to go or a thing you’d like to do or something you’d like to accomplish, and wear the right fragrance for the experience.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I used to have something like a proper bucket list, mostly places I wanted to go before I die. I don’t really think in those terms anymore, that is, I still wouldn’t mind going to those places, but I don’t particularly think it would make me any happier. At the moment what I’d like to accomplish is to meditate more, and be at peace with what I have (I have mostly stopped buying perfume but I have plenty of other avenues for stress shopping). Friday scent of the day 2/14

Happy Friday and happy Valentine’s Day! Birthdays: Frederick Douglass (maybe), Jack Benny, Florence Henderson, Gregory Hines, Terry Gross. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that expresses your feelings about Valentine’s Day, or that reminds you of someone you love.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

To me, Valentine’s Day is frankly mostly about chocolate (something it has in common with the other 364 days of the year). So I’m in Fendi Theorema, layered over Lush Posh Chocolate body lotion…

Happy Friday! It’s also Rose Day, plus we have a few birthdays: Charles Dickens, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Sinclair Lewis, Eubie Blake. Our community project for today is a spin on rose. Wear your favorite fragrance that has a rose note but doesn’t smell primarily of rose, or wear a rose fragrance layered with something that tones down the rose.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in vintage Guerlain Jicky…

Friday scent of the day 1/31

Happy Friday! It’s also the last day of January and National Backward Day. Birthdays: Alan Lomax, Jackie Robinson. RIP Marianne Faithfull. Our community project for today: honor the Lunar New Year (which started Wednesday) by wearing a fragrance that reflects the qualities of the (Wood) Snake: wisdom, patience, elegance, charm and mystery.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Today I’m in Etro Shaal Nur, which to my nose covers wisdom, elegance and mystery…
