Decrease

Interparfums, the Paris-based fragrance maker reported Q2 2025 sales of €211.4 million in its second quarter, 3.3% higher than the €209.9 million recorded in the same period last year. Timing of product launches and tariff-generated supply chain disruptions put pressure on US operations, resulting in a 20% decrease from the prior year's period.

LVMH has reported a decrease in revenues for the first half of 2025. The luxury French conglomerate saw revenues decline 4% to €39.8bn, with profits from recurring operations also decreasing 15% to €9.01bn. LVMH’s Perfumes and Cosmetics division reported revenues of €4.08bn, down 1% for the first six months of the year. Sephora’s performance within the Selective Retailing business group was hailed for strong revenue growth, however, particularly for new store openings globally.

Upmarket was the way to move

Posted by Robin on 25 July 2025 3 Comments

Just a year ago, Nest was all about accessible luxury. The premium fragrance brand, best known for its home candles and diffusers, expanded its line into body sprays that launched at Ulta Beauty for $39 – a category that’s been booming thanks to younger shoppers.

But in May, the 17-year-old brand decided that upmarket was the way to move, wiping its Instagram feed clean and replacing it with its new Voyages collection of fine perfumes sold for $250 at Harrods and Bergdorf Goodman.

Reaching younger consumers is a priority

Reaching younger consumers is a priority. Coty is investing in Gen Z-friendly formats such as mists and sprays, with products including Adidas Vibes and Calvin Klein mists, then pen sprays arriving in 2026. Sales of value-based, layer-friendly products like body and hair mists surged 94 per cent and 32 per cent, respectively, in 2024, according to data from market research firm Circana. The research company predicts that affordable formats with mood-boosting or functional benefits will become essential amid economic uncertainty for younger consumers.

Still growing

Posted by Robin on 2 July 2025 Leave a Comment

The global fragrance market is the biggest it has ever been and still growing; it is set to generate revenue of about £45bn in 2025, according to Statista. The UK market alone reached £1.74bn in 2024 and, if growth continues apace, will top £2bn by 2029 according to a 2024 Mintel report. This growth is driven by gen Z and millennials, who have formed a unique relationship with fragrance due to social media and Covid isolation – PerfumeTok drove 45% of social media scent sales in the US by 2023. Instead of a dab behind the ear, they prefer scent layering – wearing two or more perfumes at the same time – and scent wardrobing (matching fragrances to different occasions).
