About three in ten (31%) say they spent under $25, and another 26% spent between $25 and $49. Around one in five (22%) spent between $50 and $99, while 14% say they spent $100–$149. Recession glam

Posted by Robin on 15 October 2025 2 Comments

Fragrances continue to defy the tailwinds of the luxury slowdown. Euromonitor recently coined the term “recession glam” to describe a new consumer era where consumers are rethinking their spending habits, but still indulging in everyday, small luxuries.

[...] As consumers trade their big-ticket spending for smaller, more meaningful yet aspirational tokens of joy, fragrances, owing to their deeply cultural and emotional power, are emerging as the most silent yet resilient luxury. According to Euromonitor, fragrance is forecasted to drive 23% of the beauty industry’s overall expansion, and growing at a CAGR of 5.5% between 2024 and 2029, this booming category is set to become beauty’s most powerful growth engine.

It is the only men’s scent to make that claim. Currently, one bottle is snapped up every 30 seconds and more than 12 million of those are rung up yearly.

A dynamic force

Oman-based fragrance house Amouage...continues to make its mark as a dynamic force in global high perfumery. The brand reported retail sales exceeding $200 million in the first half of 2025 (H1 2025), a staggering +60% year-over-year (YoY) growth, marking the strongest six-month performance in the brand's history.

From fast-paced growth in the Middle East to sell-out launches in high-concentrated collections, the company’s results underscore a deeper industry movement: the rise of resonant, culturally rooted luxury fragrance brands reshaping the power structure that was dominated by French heritage houses for decades.
