Fifi Awards finalists 2009, plus Fifi contest

Fifi Awards Logo 2009The Fragrance Foundation of the United States has announced the finalists for the 2009 Fifi Awards, known as the “Oscars of the fragrance industry”. For each category, the original list of 10 semi-finalists is now whittled down to 5 (or more, in the case of a tie). Consumer voting begins on April 27; the final awards will be presented on May 27. And the finalists are:

Women’s Luxe (sold in over 250 doors)

Givenchy Absolutely Irrésistible
Burberry The Beat
Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere
Gwen Stefani Harajuku Lovers
Estee Lauder Sensuous
Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy…

Making Sense of Scents is a new educational program for children in grades 3 through 5:

The power of scent is a remarkable thing, yet until fairly recently a clear understanding of how it worked remained a mystery. The Sense of Smell Institute, together with The Weekly Reader, The Fragrance Foundation and Les Christophs worked together to develop a fun, inter-active and highly educational kit, “Making Sense of your Scents!” to help students understand how the sense of smell works and the important role it plays in their daily lives. Mandy Aftel & Rochelle Bloom: a talk at Olives Restaurant in New York City

In conjunction with the upcoming exhibit Living Perfume: The Natural Alchemy of Mandy Aftel, Rochelle Bloom of The Fragrance Foundation will hold a talk with Mandy Aftel of Aftelier at Olives Restaurant in New York City on April 23rd:

Fifi Awards Semi-finalists 2009

Fifi Award statueThe Fragrance Foundation has announced the semi-finalists for the 2009 Fifi Awards, known as the “Oscars of the fragrance industry”. Note that some categories show more than 10 fragrances because of tied votes and some have fewer than 10 because not enough fragrances were nominated.

Each category will be whittled down to 5 fragrances at the Fifi Finalists Breakfast on April 24th; the final awards will be presented on May 27. The award statue is shown at right. And the finalists are:

Paris Hilton will be Fragrance Foundation’s Celebrity of the Year
