“Before we had twenty new fragrances a year, each with significant retailer backing, and the consumer eagerly awaited the new offering. Now nobody waits anymore,” explained Bloom.

The result is a confused consumer unable to choose between the plethora of perfumes that inhabit the marketplace.

Fifi Award Winners 2008

The Fragrance Foundation of the United States has announced the winners of the 2008 Fifi Awards, known as the “Oscars of the fragrance industry”. The award ceremony was held this evening at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City; award presenters included Bernadette Peters and Zac Posen. This year's Hall of Fame Awards went to Vera Wang and Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien. And the winners are:

Fifi Awards Finalists 2008

Fifi Award statueThe Fragrance Foundation of the United States has announced the finalists for the 2008 Fifi Awards, known as the “Oscars of the fragrance industry”. For each category, the original list of 10 semi-finalists is now whittled down to 5 (or more, in the case of a tie). The final awards will be presented on May 20; the award statue is shown at right. And the finalists are:

2008 Fragrance & Film Festival

Vogue and The Fragrance Foundation are sponsoring a Fragrance & Film Festival:

This inaugural opportunity provides a chance for aspiring filmmakers nationwide to tell a story about one of the featured 2008 FIFI®-nominated fragrances with a two- to three-minute short film.

Filmmakers are encouraged to highlight their love of fragrance, fashion and music by creating a short story film for any of these fragrances…

Fifi Awards Semi-finalists 2008

Fifi Award statueThe Fragrance Foundation has announced the semi-finalists for the 2008 Fifi Awards, known as the “Oscars of the fragrance industry”. Note that some categories show more than 10 fragrances because of tied votes, and unisex fragrances can appear in more than one category. The distinction between the categories “nouveau niche” and “luxe” is simply in how widely distributed the fragrances are (it has nothing to do with price or any other factor).

Each category will be whittled down to 5 fragrances at the Fifi Finalists Breakfast on April 25th; the final awards will be presented in May. The award statue is shown at right. And the finalists are:
