The Fragrance Foundation has announced the semi-finalists for the 2008 Fifi Awards, known as the “Oscars of the fragrance industry”. Note that some categories show more than 10 fragrances because of tied votes, and unisex fragrances can appear in more than one category. The distinction between the categories “nouveau niche” and “luxe” is simply in how widely distributed the fragrances are (it has nothing to do with price or any other factor).

Each category will be whittled down to 5 fragrances at the Fifi Finalists Breakfast on April 25th; the final awards will be presented in May. The award statue is shown at right. And the finalists are:

The Fragrance Foundation has released the names of the 2007 Fifi Award winners. The ceremony was held last night at the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center in New York. Presenters included Sean Combs, Paula Abdul, Daisy Fuentes, Zac Posen and Jane Seymour, and this year’s Hall of Fame Award went to Donna Karan. The winners are:

The Fragrance Foundation has announced the semi-finalists for this year’s Fifi Awards, known as the “Oscars of the fragrance industry”. Each category will be whittled down to 5 fragrances next month; the final awards will be presented in May. Note that Armani Cuir Amethyste, a unisex, appears under both the men’s and women’s categories, and there are 11 semi-finalists for nouveau niche men’s due to a tie.
