Scented advent calendars 2015, part 2

Posted by Robin on 23 October 2015 11 Comments

We won’t start our “official” series of holiday gift posts until Black Friday, but since advent calendars tend to sell out quickly, we’re posting those early this year. We already did Part 1; today, we’ve another handful of fragrance-related calendars plus one tea calendar and one chocolate calendar. (Please note that many of these calendars are not available in the US. Clearly they like Advent calendars in the UK more than in the US).

From Diptyque, a calendar featuring candles, travel sprays and body care. It will reportedly be at Selfridges in the UK in November, £250…

Diptyque Essences Insensees 2015 ~ fragrance review

Diptyque Essences Insensées 2015

I like jasmine. Soft, subtle jasmines are fine — I have quite a few — but big, bold jasmines are even finer. I don’t think anybody has made the jasmine too big and bold for me to wear just yet, although Norma Kamali made a valiant effort.

I figured Diptyque’s new Essences Insensées 2015, from their La Collection 34 series of limited edition harvest-based fragrances, would be on the soft, subtle side, because that seems to be the style at Diptyque in recent years (and possibly also because I pretty much ignored Essences Insensées 2014, which was based on mimosa). Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2015, part 19

Posted by Robin on 5 October 2015 9 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US. Today’s post includes collector editions from Diptyque, Viktor & Rolf and Montblanc.

Diptyque Philosykos special edition

From Diptyque, Philosykos in a “unique bottle that celebrates the interplay between light and transparency; a relationship that is at the heart of this inspired aroma”. At Liberty in the UK, £95 for 75 ml Eau de Parfum…

Top 10 Fall Fragrances 2015

Posted by Jessica on 18 September 2015 74 Comments

yellow leaf

It’s mid-September, and I’ve been flipping through various beauty-and-fashion magazines to keep up with things. I’ve been particularly struck by all the “New Season, New Scent” headlines. I know, I know — this is how the fragrance business stays in existence, yet this autumn I’m craving comfort and familiarity far more than novelty.

Looking back five years (!), I’d still wear most of my picks from my Top Ten Fall Fragrances of 2010, but I’ve also made a few “new” favorites since then. Here are my very personal picks for the months ahead.

I’m looking forward to an off-season seashore getaway soon, and I’ll be packing Diptyque Florabellio…
