The daily lemming

Diptyque was not quite done with my wishlist yet. Here is the holiday lantern, which fits on any Diptyque full size (190g) candle: "Three marvelous animals leap around the flame. As if by magic, thanks to the heat of the candle, the finely openwork silver lantern turns on itself, projecting a wonderful dance around it." $85 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Diptyque holiday candles 2020

Posted by Robin on 10 October 2020 18 Comments

Diptyque’s holiday collection for 2020 (including the advent calendar) was decorated by artist Ugo Gattoni. This year’s candle line up includes three fragrances with fairy-tale creature decorations: Fleur Majesté (lion; roses with clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon), Ambre Plume (swan; amber, orange, cinnamon and ginger) and Sapin de Nuit (deer; fir, eucalyptus, rosemary and peppermint). There will be the usual 70g mini and 190g sizes, plus coffrets, candle carousels, and etc, and a 600g Roses candle in pink porcelain, plus a perfumed bracelet in Do Son with the three animal charms.

Also worth coveting, two more items scented with Sapin de Nuit…

The (almost) daily lemming

Advent calendar (purchasing) season is upon us. Always my first vote: Diptyque. For the 2020 version, you'll get seven 10 ml fragrances, plus one 70g candle, eleven 35g candles and an assortment of other goodies. Due to launch mid October, £320. (I think the 2019 version was $425 in the US?)

Othoniel x 4

A quick animation for Diptyque’s new Othoniel Rosa, developed in collaboration with artist Jean-Michel Othoniel. Then, so long as we’re here, below the jump we have first a spot about Othoniel’s La Rose des Vents sculpture at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park, San Franciso (you can read more here) followed by a spot about Les Belles Danses, installed at the Théâtre d’Eau at Versailles in 2015 (you can read more here), followed by a performance by Benjamin Millepied’s L.A. Dance Project at the Théâtre d’Eau.

Oh candles are so much bother anyway. Diptyque's new electric diffuser (shown above right, apparently installed with a dedicated outlet) promises to "activate with a simple touch anywhere on the vent to switch the device on and off". $120, cartridges sold separately for $45 each (it appears to use the same cartridges as the electric Un Air de Diptyque and the car diffusers).
