Andy Tauer of Tauer Perfumes is celebrating his blog's third anniversary by giving away 100 free samples of his upcoming vetiver fragrance:

The sample is a pre-sniff of the upcoming Vetiver from Tauer. The fragrance still has no name. It is a fragrance built around vetiver from Java, with fresh grapefruit, lots of black pepper and green clary notes in the head. Lily of the valley contrasts the dark vetiver and crisp Cedar wood, leading over to a soft ambergris base with hints of Tonka beans and cistus.

The Prix Eau Faux poll was supposed to be open until midnight tonight, but due no doubt to some mistake on my part, it closed early. I've reopened the poll, so anyone who didn't get a chance to vote, you can do so now and I'll leave it open until the morning. Update: poll is now closed, thanks to everyone who voted!

Prix Eau Faux 2008 ~ help us select the winner

Here they are, the finalists for the 2008 Prix Eau Faux, our contest to honor creative fragrance writing or “faux ad copy” (you can read about the contest here). Thank you again to everyone who took the time to enter! We had 55 entries, and the judges (me, Angela, Kevin, Erin and Jessica from Now Smell This, Marina from Perfume Smellin' Things and Katie from Scentzilla) have whittled it down to 8 finalists.

In order to make this as fair as possible, I won't post the names of the entrants until after the winner is selected, and I respectfully ask that the entrants not “campaign” for votes here or elsewhere…just let the best entry win. Votes will be taken through the end of the day Wednesday, and I'll announce the winner on Friday…
