The daily lemming

I am still lemming that darned Salta candle and here is another limited edition I could live with: the Cire candle. "The Cire scented candle is an olfactory representation of the manufacture: symbolic, it blends emanations of warm wax and perfumes being crafted. Reinterpreting Cire Trudon’s fundamental values - ancient savoir-faire and commitment to excellence - the scented candle reveals a unique perfume: behind the amber-colored glass, a beeswax absolute. Bees and beeswax have always been at the heart of the manufacture’s History: since the 17th century, Cire Trudon’s motto is “Deo regique laborant”, which means: “they (the bees) work for God and the King”. 2019 marks a turning point for the Maison, as Cire Trudon decided to financially help the Orne Dark Bee Conservatory, with the partnership of the Perche Nature Park. 4 percent of all sales of the Maison’s Cire candle will go toward the saving of Orne Dark Bees." $125.

An uneven distribution of fragrance

Posted by Robin on 29 April 2019 4 Comments

For example, at Cire Trudon, wax and fragrance are mixed in small batches before the perfumed wax is carefully poured into candle holders. This is less efficient than concocting a big vat of unscented wax, machine-pouring all the candles, then injecting each with a fragrance, as is customary at most candle factories. But the injection method results in an uneven distribution of fragrance throughout the wax, and often leaves the bottom half of the candle completely unscented.

Sigh...another Cire Trudon lemming, like I didn't have enough already. The new Salta candle: "Blended with verbena and hyacinth, the grapefruit fragrance is aromatic. Considered by the Chinese as one of the three holy fruits with peach and lemon, the grapefruit was a symbol of prosperity and fertility. Also highly prized by the Greeks and the Romans, the hesperide has a crisp freshness: known for its rich terroir and unique soil, the Salta region enhances the citrus’ intensity." 270g for $115 (ouch, somebody tell me next time they have a coupon) at Beautyhabit.

Need a little plate to put your scented candle on? Of course you do! "A new addition to Cire Trudon’s series of objects, six glass coupelles welcome Mynott’s spirited illustrations: with their felt-base, the small plates are ideal to display scented candles. Through the glass, the humoristic drawings mirror the stories behind Cire Trudon’s iconic perfumes. A decorative take on Cire Trudon’s art de vivre." Shown is La Marquise, $55 at Aedes.
