Yves Rocher Rose Absolue, Plaisirs Nature Strawberry Nectar ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 18 July 2007 16 Comments

Yves Rocher Rose Absolue fragrance

Yves Rocher is launching Rose Absolue in the US. The fragrance, which launched in France last year, is the second entry in the Secrets d’Essences line, following Voile d’Ambre:

Dewy flesh, a velvet gift, since the beginning of man, a legend, the incarnation of femininity. Symbol of love and self abandon, the rose, like a woman, is a caress and a bite, innocence and hypnosis…

Lancome Mille et Une Roses ~ fragrance review

Posted by Robin on 16 January 2007 30 Comments

Lancome Mille et Une Roses fragrance

In late 1999, Lancome launched 2000 et Une Rose to celebrate the turn of the century. The fragrance was developed by perfumer Christine Nagel, and included notes of rose, amber, vanilla and musk. 2000 Et Une Rose was a limited edition, but you could still buy it at the Lancome Institute in Paris even after it was discontinued in its original teardrop-shaped bottle; still, fans in the United States could no longer pop down to their local Lancome counter to replenish their supply. Fruity floral fragrances for spring: Delices de Cartier & Missoni

Posted by Robin on 11 April 2006 45 Comments

Delices de Cartier perfume

Fruity floral is not my favorite fragrance category, so you will have to take my words with a larger than usual grain of salt…but here are two recent offerings from the perfume counters:

Délices de Cartier was launched earlier this year, and takes its name from a Cartier jewelry collection. The bottle, inspired by a Cartier brooch, is gorgeous (although oddly similar to last year’s MyQueen); the fragrance was created by Christine Nagel of Quest and features frozen morello cherry, bergamot, pink, white and yellow jasmine, pink pepper, freesia, violet, tonka beans, amber and sandalwood…

Perfume review: Miss Dior Cherie by Christian Dior

Posted by Robin on 13 September 2005 130 Comments

Riley Keough for Miss Dior Cherie

Miss Dior Chérie was launched this year by Christian Dior’s haute couture and womenswear designer, John Galliano, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Christian Dior’s birth. The fragrance was created by nose Christine Nagel and has notes of mandarin, strawberry leaf, violet, jasmine, caramel popcorn, wild strawberry sorbet, musk, and patchouli.

Galliano was said to have found the inspiration for Miss Dior Chérie in the Stevie Wonder song “My Cherie Amour” and in a Dior dress of the 1940s called “Chérie”. His fragrance, however, is calculated to attract a decidedly modern customer:

“I did not want to rebrand a classic, nor would the new Miss Dior want to wear a re-bottled Miss Dior. As fashion evolves so must its scent, she needs to have something that captures her in the moment of today,” he commented at the launch. (via cosmeticsinternational)

Miss Dior Chérie starts with very sweet strawberry punch and a brief flash of mandarin…
