Perfume news: Sarah Jessica Parker & Evelyn Lauder

A snippet from a recent interview with Sarah Jessica Parker:

Is the fragrance, Lovely, your own personal potion brought to the masses? Parker mixed her own scents for years. "(Lovely) still has a little of the musk and lavender notes I had been using, but there's more floral and a little patchouli. It's a little more feminine. I'm really happy with it." (via Charlotte Observer, link to article no longer working, sorry!)

The Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award at the 34th annual FiFi Awards, scheduled for April 3, will go to Evelyn H. Lauder. (via Women's Wear Daily).

Beyonce gets in the celebrity perfume game & other perfume news

According to the Daily Record, Beyonce is planning to launch her own line of perfumes.

The Boston Globe has an article on Neil Morris, a custom perfume designer.

And the New York Times has a followup on the syrupy odor that invaded Manhattan in October and again in December.

Was that really Sarah Jessica Parker in the television commercials for her first fragrance, Lovely? Well, yes, but enhanced.

Paris Hilton Just Me for men, Richard James, Hugo Boss Pure Purple ~ new fragrances

Paris Hilton Just Me fragrance for menParis Hilton has launched Just Me for men. The scent was created by perfumer Jean-Louis Grauby and has notes of bergamot, lemon zest, tangerine, blackcurrant, lime, crushed grass, sage, clove bud, redwood, lotus, incense, patchouli, moss and amber crystal.

Paris Hilton Just Me for men is an Eau de Toilette, and is available in 50 and 100 ml and in matching grooming products.

Richard James, the UK tailor, will launch his second scent in February…

Paris Hilton ad for debut perfume

Paris Hilton probably needs no introduction. Even I know who she is, and I live under a rock and have to google many of the celebrities who release fragrances. What she is famous for, exactly, escapes me, but she is rich and famous and has released two fragrances; in 2006 she will roll out a new line of color cosmetics, and I believe there are watches & handbags in the works as well…

Fantasy hits the UK & other perfume news

Britney Spears Fantasy will debut in the UK this year. Can it beat top seller Chanel no. 5? Read about it in The Times Online, which also notes in another article that...

THE $25 billion (£15 billion) global perfume industry is losing its fragrance amid a frenetic struggle for a stagnating market, manufacturers and analysts have given warning.

Profits have been squeezed while shoppers are bewildered by the launch of up to 300 perfumes a year.

Despite the glut of fragrance releases, columnist Daryl Lease of HeraldTribune.com notes that there is "an untapped market for the stench in and around Washington", and offers a few suggestions.
