Is the fragrance, Lovely, your own personal potion brought to the masses? Parker mixed her own scents for years. THE $25 billion (£15 billion) global perfume industry is losing its fragrance amid a frenetic struggle for a stagnating market, manufacturers and analysts have given warning.

Profits have been squeezed while shoppers are bewildered by the launch of up to 300 perfumes a year.
