Posted by Robin on 8 June 2007 60 Comments

Serge Lutens Louve perfumeSerge Lutens will launch Louve (shown at right), a “white almond” fragrance in the export range, this September. Sarrasins (no word yet on what it will smell like) will join the exclusive range, sold only at the Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido in Paris. (via cosmeticnews)

Update: a brief description of both scents, via osmoz:

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab does Paris Hilton: Privilege & Pruno

Posted by Robin on 7 June 2007 35 Comments

Paris HiltonBlack Phoenix Alchemy Lab has launched two limited edition fragrances, Privilege and Pruno. The fragrances will be sold only “until Paris Hilton is released from the pokey”.

Privilege is…

Polished party-girl sleaze. This is a shameless scent, devoid of caution, regret, or introspection. This perfume reeks of tabloid glamour, and has no substance whatsoever. Armoise, tuberose, white citrus, rose absolute, oakmoss, tiare, tuberose, vanilla, linden, and lemon tree blossom.

Margaritas & music

Posted by Robin on 2 June 2007 1 Comment

Surely something called Coney Island must capture a particle of ballyhoo, sea air, Boardwalk and Coppertone. Might there be a piquant X-factor, like fresh brioche in Paris or pine needles in the Rocky Mountains, that will forever summon up Mermaid Avenue?

Maybe, maybe not.

For reasons that sound clearer when delivered in Ms. Rahme’s French accent, Coney Island, the fragrance, is based, at first sniff, on margaritas.

— The New York Times talks to Laurice Rahme of Bond no. 9 about the newly launched Coney Island fragrance.

"I'm blessed to have two of the most important things and experiences in my life. You have music, where music can take you back to a person, a place immediately. The other thing is fragrance. Smell can take you back to an experience, a relationship, a time in your life. And to have both in my life are extremely rewarding."

— Paula Abdul, quoted in Showbuzz. Abdul's reality show on Bravo, "Hey Paula", debuts later this month and follows her as she develops her new perfume line, among other things.
