Unidentified Scented Object

Posted by Robin on 20 October 2017 2 Comments

The vision of Cartier’s in-house fragrance nose Mathilde Laurent, Le Nuage Parfumé - aka the Unidentified Scented Object - is located at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The scented object is in fact a cloud, a puff of perfume if you will. Inside a glass cube sits a suspended spiral staircase with a floating cloud that hovers elegantly just below the ceiling. It looks abstract on first impression, almost an illusion until closer inspection when the texture of the cloud is clear to see.

Cartier La Panthère Etincelante

I don't love La Panthère, but I would like to have that bottle: "Cartier La Panthère Etincelante, a luxurious black and gold purse spray containing La Panthère Eau de Parfum with a shimmering effect added. This sophisticated product can be slipped into your handbag for a festive night out. A feline-floral scent which is born from the fusion between a radiant and delicate gardenia with sensual musky notes." £57 for 25 ml Eau de Parfum at House of Fraser. (Update: it's also at Neiman Marcus for $70.)

Top 10 Fall Fragrances 2017

Posted by Erin on 22 September 2017 57 Comments

Where I live, it is the first day of autumn, and this year, September is the new August: after a wet and confusingly mild vacation season1, we look likely to celebrate a glorious Indian Summer. I have always loved the early fall, so I’m tempted, each time I select the autumnal Top 10 at Now Smell This, to stack it with all my favorite chypres, floral ambers and woody orientals. This time, to avoid boring you with repetition, I’ve chosen fragrances released in the last two to three years. I can’t promise there will be any less oakmoss than usual, but I do think I’m fruitier and more craft distilled today…

Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles (& some other stuff) 2017, part 13

Posted by Robin on 10 September 2017 2 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US. Today’s post includes special edition bottles from Giorgio Armani, Carven and Robert Piguet, plus new concentrations of Diptyque Vetyverio, Dolce and Gabbana The One and L’Envol de Cartier.

Giorgio Armani Sì Nacré Edition
