Top 10 Spring Fragrances 2009

Daffodils isolated against white background

When spring arrives, the black and white world of winter seems to turn technicolor in splotches. The ground is mostly barren, but a patch of lurid daffodils lights up a parking strip, and a tulip tree looks like it has burst into white flames against the grey sky. From Viktor & Rolf, this year’s limited edition version of Flowerbomb Extreme (you can see the 2007 bottle here). The description hasn’t changed: “In a bottle like a precious amethyst gemstone and dressed up with a bow, Extreme plunges straight into the heart of deep floral accords. Sambac jasmine, osmanthus, and rich vanilla unleash a sublime, sensual pleasure.” At Nordstrom, $135 for 50 ml…

Includes some great shots of the interior of Caron's boutique on Avenue Montaigne in Paris. In French, 2 1/2 minutes.

Update: video is no longer available, sorry!

Audrey Tautou

French actress Audrey Tautou (shown) is rumored to be the new face of Chanel no. 5. Tautou is also slated to play designer Coco Chanel in an upcoming biopic. (via wwd) Opinions? An improvement over actress Nicole Kidman, who signed with Chanel back in 2003? If you never saw Kidman’s commercial, watch it at YouTube; if you already saw it, check out the spoof…
