The daily lemming

Esteban Figue Noire candle

An awfully pretty candle from Esteban, where as it happens, they have free shipping (in the US, not sure about other areas) this weekend. Shown is Figue Noire (black figs, violet leaves, sandalwood, fig wood, labdanum and musk). $39.50 for the 170g candle shown, or in a plain blue glass jar for $34. Plus, a refill for $21 — why doesn't everyone make candle refills?? At Esteban Paris.

I have wanted one of these for ages (along with a bottle of the fragrance): the Comme des Garçons + Monocle Scented Candle One: Hinoki. "The inspiration for the fragrance comes from a perfectly still, slightly chilly spring morning spent soaking in an indoor/outdoor tub in Kyoto. It is reminiscent of the moss and trees outside and the sharp notes of the boxy hinoki tub." $80 at Brooklyn Tailors.

A trio of candles (in two sizes) by Maison Francis Kurkdjian for The Standard. Los Angeles ("evoking a languid hike to the Hollywood sign"), New York ("evoking freshly cut wild grasses and a late night walk through the High Line park") and Miami ("evoking colorful and fruity roses, and the lush life in a tropical city") are 35g / 10 hour burn time each, $35 for the set at The Standard. Or, the full size, 190g / 40 hour burn time, $65 each.

DS & Durga Bowmakers pocket roll-on

From DS & Durga, Bowmakers in a pocket perfume oil roll-on: “Amongst the transcendental woods of the 1800s, craftsmen from the Massachusetts Bay Colony built violin bows in the tiny towns of the Pioneer Valley. The shops were filled with old growth mahogany, burled maple shavings, amber pine rosin, aged walnut and the craftsmen’s unique, secret varnishes. An androgynous, full bodied scent, Bowmaker’s ether reek is subdued by supple leather and a variety of woods.” $72 for 10 ml at Twisted Lily…
