Bougies la Francaise School Paper Glue

You'd have to be of a certain age to remember pots of white glue, as opposed to twist up glue sticks, I think? If you're as ancient as I am, this might sound appealing — the School Paper Glue candle from Bougies la Francaise, complete with galvanized tin lid: "Reinterpreting the little pot of white glue of your childhood, this vintage candle will take you back to the benches of the school. [...] This intriguing candle brings you top notes of Almond & Peach, middle notes of Rose, Heliotrope & Violet and bottom notes of Rosemary & Thyme." $20 at Hampton Court. Now we need a candle duplicating the smell of the mimeograph, which I think I read somewhere was actually toxic.

Jo Loves Layered Spring candle

From Jo Loves, the layered Spring candle: "Beginning with Neroli Blossom, this vibrant combination of sweet fruits and familiar florals instantly transports you to a flower market on a warm, bright day, before melting effortlessly into mouth-watering Lime Cologne bursting with sharp and sparkling citrus scents - and finally resting upon a calm and comforting base of Petitgrain which floats delicately through the air like a clean Mediterranean cologne." 255g, 60 hour burn time, $130.

Porch Fly Candle

A selection of wood-wick candles (the wood crackles while they burn) from Raleigh company Porch Fly. They specialize in clothing, but co-owner Joshua Gruder wanted to make a whiskey-scented candle, so he apparently ordered 300+ candles to see what was out there, and then consulted with a local candlemaker. They've now got 14 fragrances. $30 each, free shipping. I might order one of these before the day is out. (And you can read more at Inspired by whiskey, Porch Fly creates a different kind of candle at The News & Observer.)
