The daily lemming

Yet another lemmable holiday scented candle: the Liberty x Bongénie Grieder Bois d'Or from Mizensir. "The Bois d'Or scented candle by Mizensir comes here in a stencil embellished with an enchanted alpine forest print which was created thanks to the exclusive collaboration for Christmas between Bongénie Grieder and the London house Liberty. It entices with notes of cedar wood and licorice mingled with patchouli, sandal wood, leather and incense." 230g, 75 CHF (about $85) at Bongénie-Grieder in Switzerland.

Boujee Bougies is a new candle brand, and many of you know one or more of the principals behind the project. Nick Gilbert, who used to comment here regularly when he was working a perfume counter, went on to work for Les Senteurs, Penhaligon's and L'Artisan before launching Olfiction along with Thomas Dunckley (you might know him as The Candy Perfume Boy), Ezra-Lloyd Jackson and perfumer Pia Long. Their five offerings include Succulent ("With juicy green notes of cactus and tomato leaf, Succulent is verdant and fresh, evoking a glass conservatory overflowing with lush tendrils") and Queen Jam ("Queen Jam is a Finnish conserve made from raspberries and bilberries...Our Queen Jam throws in a few roses..."), as well as Cuir Culture ("pup masks, leather jackets, old books"), Gilt ("whispered confessions, incense smoke, gold leaf") and Hellflower ("sulphur, burning flowers, brimstone"). 60g for £25 or 220g for £55, at Boujee Bougies.

Fragonard's spicy holiday candle, Le Feu sous la Glace: "A heartwarming combination of spicy cinnamon and zesty orange, which can create a comforting ambience in any room. Incredibly inviting, the candle pairs well with a cozy night by the fire." $39 for 200g at 50-ml.

If you're a fan of candles in pretty ceramic containers (with lids!), do check out L'Or de Seraphine, a new-ish brand (they debuted in 2019). Shown is my favorite design (I have not smelled any of them, but do comment if you have), No 7 Whitby. "Infused with essential oils, and featuring notes of sea salt, violets, and vetiver, No. 07 is soothing, uplifting and full of joy." Available in small (75g, mostly seeing these in sets of 3), medium (181g) and large (481g), $18-40, in a variety of places including Anthropologie, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Candles Off Main or the L'Or de Seraphine website. Candle Delirium has the holiday gift set, 3 small candles for $38 (and they currently have a 15% off Black Friday gift code).
