The daily lemming

A springtime lemming courtesy of Kevin: Trudon's Versailles candle. "A quintessential accord representing French gardens in spring, both very floral and refreshing. The Versailles Collection, already iconic with its frozen azure-blue vessel and its both highly floral and refreshing fragrance, captures an atmosphere as refined as it is whimsical: a garden created from scratch to entertain and enchant a king, his court and his friends." With litsea cubeba, mint, peonies, thyme, rosemary, tuberose, linden, honeysuckle and oak. In 4 sizes, €42 - €520 (these are not yet on Trudon's US site).

Diptyque's limited edition Fleur de Cerisier is back for 2024 with a highly lemmable floral design: "The Fleur de Cerisier (Cherry Blossom) scented candle is back to celebrate the spring season and its delicate, ephemeral pink blooms. As summer approaches, it will be carried away by the breeze like fluttering petals." In 190g, currently at Diptyque in Hong Kong for HK$600 but scheduled for worldwide release.

The Library in a Forest candle from New Savant: "Library in a Forest was inspired by The New Savant Co-Founder, Ingrid's, love of nature, books, and fantasy. Woody, leathery and full of wonder, this calming fragrance will transport you into a world where you're invited to believe in magic and take a moment of rest along your journey." Soy blend candles in 2 sizes, 200g ($39) or 400g ($69), at The New Savant.

From Jo Loves, the Spring layered candle: "Unique to Jo Loves, Spring A Layered Candle combines three individual spring floral scents: one on top of the other. From the smooth citrus scent of Tahitian Gardenia, layered on top of the fresh, clean Orange Blossom to the final layer of sweet, floral Tuberose Blossom, it truly is an ode to spring". £90 for 250 g at Jo Loves in the UK.

One of these days I will break down and buy a Loewe candle, but which? I want beetroot, I want incense, I want orange blossom. The latest, Roasted Hazelnut: "The ‘Roasted Hazelnut’ scented candle has an extra-high-intensity fragrance with a woody, nutty aroma evocative of the unique fragrance of roasted hazelnuts: a culinary delicacy with a distinctively rich flavour often used in desserts and confectionary. Its deep, spicy and smoky aspects unfold to reveal sweet notes of brown sugar over time. Crafted in natural wax with a single cotton wick, the candle is presented in a black glazed terracotta vessel with a stamped base." The 170g is $120 (or 610g for $245; 2120g for $495). The matching 150 ml room spray is $135, and there's also a new Mushroom home fragrance.
