Butterscotch, citrus and bamboo

Posted by Robin on 11 June 2024 Leave a Comment

Earlier this season, the Minnesota Twins revived their offense with the good luck charm of a summer sausage. But the New York Yankees' pitching staff has benefited all season from its own talismans, ones that are far more pleasant — especially in terms of aroma — with no concerns about rotting or spoilage.

Candles have taken over the Yankees' clubhouse this season, as reported by Sports Illustrated's Stephanie Apstein. Scents such as butterscotch, citrus and bamboo fill the air in the locker room, thanks to the team's starting pitchers.

From a collaboration between D'Orsay and artist Laëtitia Rouget, the limited edition 05:33 A Minha Vida Portuguesa candle: "The sunny, invigorating notes intertwine, evoking the bewitching aromas of Mandarin, Neroli and Fig, for a romantic and poetic experience, full of surprise. The earthenware pots are reusable and reveal a design when the wax is fully consumed." 250g for $134 at D'Orsay.

I have no need for a scented candle in a sardine tin (nor do I need the adorable fish bags at Beautyhabit that led me to the candles) but in case you do, here you go: "Don Fisher teamed up with Agni of To:From, natural soy and beeswax candles maker, to create the perfect candle and… turns out there are two perfect candles!" Levante, above left ("Levante is fresh and crisp, it smells like sea and sand, like a beautiful Summer day") and Poniente, above right ("Poniente is warm, made from orange and rosemary, a classical Mediterranean aroma"). 90 ml, $25 each at Don Fisher.

From Le Feu de L'Eau, the Petale candle: "Created without using a mold, each candle is sculpted underwater with a high-temperature wax. The color is hand mixed and the fragrances are custom blended into a soy candle filling, which melts at a quicker rate than the exterior wax so that as the candle burns the exterior becomes a wax shell. It sounds more complicated than it is. Just know it’s beautiful." With tuberose, iris and orange peel, $70 for 425g at Hero Shop.

BATS! "What happens when two out-of-the-box Brooklyn brands strike up a collab? A collection that sparks smiles, ignites conversation, and stirs the senses comes to light! Known for creating unconventional wallpaper that flips tradition on its head, Flavor Paper was stoked when APOTHEKE suggested a collaboration to bring an assortment of its infamous immersive designs off the wall and to the wax as tasty vessels for some seriously sweet and savory scents." Shown is the White Vetiver (silky cashmere, eucalyptus, and lilac mingled with earthy vetiver, creamy sandalwood, crisp amber, and white cedar) candle (there are 2 other designs but this is the only one with BATS), $52 for 354g at Bloomingdales.
