Bond no. 9 West Side & Bryant Park ~ fragrance reviews

Bond no. 9 Bryant Park fragrance

West Side and Bryant Park are the latest two fragrances from Bond no. 9, the perfume house that is mapping New York City’s neighborhoods in scent. Both were created by perfumer Michel Almairac of Robertet, and while neither is a soliflore, both feature prominent rose notes.

West Side launched last year, and was intended as an homage to the musical heritage of the West Side (you can see a picture of the bottle here). In addition to rose, the notes include ylang ylang, peony, sandalwood, amber, musk and vanilla.

Early reports that West Side had some affinity to Lancome Mille et Une Roses were intriguing…

Fragrance of the Big Apple

Eau Dear: Sniffing Out the Big Apple's Smelliest Spots in today's Washington Post looks at some of New York City's more aromatic attractions, and no, they don't mean perfume stores. Columnist David Segal takes Laurice Rahme of Bond no. 9 on a "hunt for stupefying aromas -- a stink safari, if you will". Many thanks to Ruth for the link!

In the Financial Times, "The Subtle Art of Selling Hope in a Bottle" looks at Elizabeth Arden's success in the celebrity perfume arena.

In the New York Sun, an article about Bond no. 9 Fire Island: "If you can't be tan, you can smell like you are". Read it here (link no longer working, sorry).

Krizia My Afrika fragranceKrizia has launched My Afrika, a new fragrance for women featuring notes of ginger blossom, lime, jasmine, heliotrope, shea fruit, amber, ebony and ginger. The rings on the bottle neck and outer packaging were inspired by the traditional beadwork collars worn by Maasai women. (via cosmoty.de)
