Perfume review: Armani Prive Bois d’Encens & Eau de Jade

Posted by Robin on 18 December 2005 41 Comments

Armani Privé Bois d'Encens & Eau de Jade

Today I’m trying two more fragrances in the Armani Privé quartet by Giorgio Armani (see yesterday’s review of Pierre de Lune and Ambre Soie).

Bois d’Encens, also known as Onyx, is the fragrance that Armani reportedly had developed for his own personal use:

“This is my favourite of the four scents and smells strongly of incense,” says Armani as he covers himself in a fine mist of Bois d’Encens from a little bottle he keeps in his pocket. “I used to go to church with my grandmother and the services were pretty long. The thing that kept me going was the smell of the incense. This fragrance reminds me of that time. It reminds me of my childhood.” (quoted in The Independent, 1/22/05)

Bois d’Encens is said to contain only 5 ingredients…

Perfume review: Armani Prive Pierre de Lune and Ambre Soie

Giorgio Armani launched the Armani Privé quartet in late 2004. It is the line’s first entry into the high end luxury fragrance market, and the perfumes have the packaging and price tag to match. According to Armani,

Fragrance of the day: Emporio Armani City Glam for him

Posted by Marlen on 9 November 2005 8 Comments

Emporio Armani City Glam for him

As a huge fan of Emporio Armani White and Night for Him, I have eagerly anticipated the arrival of City Glam, the fourth men’s fragrance released under the Emporio Armani label by Giorgio Armani. The notes include ginger, galangal, bitter orange, mint, musk and pepper.

Am I disappointed? Not exactly. Am I impressed? Not exactly. I’m not sure what to make of this fragrance. A light, fresh offering from Armani, “City Glam” is not exactly what comes to mind, but rather, “Eau de Emporio”. The similarities with White for Men are close, but City Glam seems to have taken cues from classic eau de colognes — I find it nice, unobtrusive, and subtle. To me, this is the scent of a summer day, walking on a hillside wearing linen…
