L’Artisan launched Fleur d’Oranger in 2005. It is the first in a projected series of limited edition “harvest fragrances” based on specific “vintages” of floral notes; this one takes its name from the 2004 harvest of orange blossom from Nabeul in Tunisia. The fragrance was created by nose Anne Flipo, and has notes of orange bigarade, petitgrain, neroli, honey, beeswax and orange blossom.
Fleur d’Oranger is, in a word, glorious. It does for orange blossoms what Diptyque Philosykos did for figs: it captures the whole experience of standing in an grove of orange (in this case) trees on a brilliant summer day, with the smell of the leaves, the bark, the blossoms and the fruit. As with Philosykos, it probably does so in a more aromatically pleasing way than the reality could possibly hope to…

L’Artisan launched Verte Violette in 2000 as part of the Je T’ai Cueilli Une Fleur trio, which also included Jacinthe des Bois and Oeillet Sauvage. Perfumer Anne Flipo created all three fragrances; the notes for Verte Violette are violet leaves, raspberry leaves, rose, heliotrope, cedar, iris and white musk.
Verte Violette starts slightly astringent, as violet fragrances sometimes do, but it settles quickly. It is also less directly focused on the violet: the Borsari is more likely to satisfy a craving for the scent of the flower itself…

It will feature “the ‘green sensation’ of the 2005 mimosa harvest in its top notes along with tender orange blossom notes”, with the mimosa from Grasse making up 25% of the juice…

Every year, L’Artisan Parfumeur releases a limited edition summer fragrance. Last year, it was Ananas Fizz, which has notes of pink grapefruit, bitter orange, lemon rind, rum, rose, Reunion Islands Victoria pineapple, coconut milk, lychee sap, cedar, vetiver, and vanilla. The perfumer for Ananas Fizz was Anne Flipo.
I should start by saying that as a rule, I am very fond of the summer L’Artisans. First, the bottles usually score high on the cute factor (I do like the regular L’Artisan bottles, but I have plenty of them and it is nice to see something new). Second, they are often light and citrusy, which is right up my alley, especially in the summer. Third, they are cheaper (per ounce, anyway) than the regular line.
Ananas Fizz starts with sparkling citrus…
