The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 4 January 2021 4 Comments

I'm not even done lemming Diptyque's holiday collection, but here is the spiffy new Dancing Ovals collection, with limited edition decorated candles in Figuier (shown), Roses, Tubereuse and Baies. $74 each for 190g. (In some markets, you can also find the smaller 70g candles, and a holder for 190g candles.)

Diptyque holiday candles 2020

Diptyque’s holiday collection for 2020 (including the advent calendar) was decorated by artist Ugo Gattoni. This year’s candle line up includes three fragrances with fairy-tale creature decorations: Fleur Majesté (lion; roses with clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon), Ambre Plume (swan; amber, orange, cinnamon and ginger) and Sapin de Nuit (deer; fir, eucalyptus, rosemary and peppermint). There will be the usual 70g mini and 190g sizes, plus coffrets, candle carousels, and etc, and a 600g Roses candle in pink porcelain, plus a perfumed bracelet in Do Son with the three animal charms.

A new Diptyque limited edition candle for Eau Capitale: "From the Eau Capitale Paris En Fleurs Collection. For this celebration of Paris, Diptyque draws its inspiration from the rose and its many variations: like the roses of Bagatelle or the roses you’d find in a flower market. To create this scent, Diptyque collaborated with artist and friend, Pierre Marie. Together, they brought to life a fragrance inspired by Art Nouveau- a fragrant trellis on which rustic foliage and roses intermingle." In 70g mini ($38) or 190g full ($74), at Saks.

Diptyque Flora Fortuna candle ~ home fragrance review

Posted by Jessica on 29 November 2019 18 Comments

In the earlier 2000s, I used to make frequent purchases of scented candles (and room sprays and “wax tarts”) from any number of brands. Nowadays, I buy candles from an independent candle-maker in my own city and my home fragrance cravings are pretty much satisfied. One exception: my annual purchase of a holiday candle from Diptyque, an indulgence I never regret.

This year’s Holiday 2019 collection is titled Porte Bonheur (“good-luck charm”) and features illustrations by Olaf Hajek. I’ve chosen the “blue” option every year for nearly a decade, because it’s usually something deep and incense-y. This time, after pondering all three candles in the Holiday 2019 collection, I gravitated towards the “red” choice. Its official name is Flora Fortuna and Diptyque recommends burning it “for good luck.” Its glass canister is decorated with “symbols of good fortune from around the world such as the four-leaf clover and maneki-neko cat…while the red color brings us the energy needed to seize its luck…”
