Perfume review: Alessandro by Mazzolari

Posted by Marlen on 2 February 2006 9 Comments

Compared to everything from Lea St Barth to Caron Farnesiana, Mazzolari’s Alessandro is another successful almond fragrance — toasted, honeyed and magnificent.

Alessandro opens with every facet glimmering, ready to be appreciated. Golden honey notes layered over a not-too-powdery almond note…

Fragrance review: Patchouly by Mazzolari

Posted by Marlen on 1 February 2006 7 Comments

Rarely does a single-note theme work as perfectly as Mazzolari’s Patchouly. Posted by Marlen on 25 January 2006 8 Comments

Sikkim’s original composition had notes of aldehydes, ylang ylang, bergamot, galbanum, gardenia, thujone, carnation, jasmine, narcissus, orris, rose, amber, castoreum, leather, moss, patchouli and vetiver.

Sikkim is a surprising chypre of monumental proportions, and I found it stunning right from the start…

Posted by Marlen on 11 January 2006 8 Comments

Agatha Brown’s second men’s fragrance, Emperor, is part of a male/female duo named Imperial Jade and inspired by the precious green stone. Emperor has notes of iced lavender, black currant, Muscat grape, almond honey, stephanotis, jasmine, Parma violet, orris root, waterlily, heliotrope, blue cedar, redwood, sandalwood, tonka bean, amber, vanilla and musk.

If this sounds delicious to you, trust me, it is. One of the most stunning and intoxicating men’s fragrances I’ve ever come across…
