I have a bottle of Lorenzo Villorezi Teint de Neige (I am really tilting toward Italian perfumes lately) coming to me which is white and powdery and perhaps Pantone-y Color of the Year and thus might fit the CP but it won’t arrive by Friday, alas.
Since I’ve been reading some Len Deighton Cold War spy novels, husband got a DVD of The Ipcress File (1965, starring Michael Caine, based on a Deighton book) and we shall hunker down with the dog and watch it and eat some pad thai like thing that I shall make. Dog will *not* eat pad thai.
I wore Coromandel EdT to my sister’s yesterday eve and she said, mmm, you smell good, the same thing she said when I showed up wearing Etro Patchouly (a kind NSTer sent me a decant of the Etro), and I pointed that out and she said, hmm, and I thought I didn’t like patchouli. I told her I’d make her a decant of Coro and I think I need to give her a ‘flight’ of patchouli decants so she can see that she really does like patchouli, just not the headshop smelling ones.
Sounds like a good plan for tonight. I am making lasagna and we will be staying home as well. I may start one of your books tonight.

No points for me, so far anyway — I’m in Fzotic Deixis. Definitely not white or cloudlike, and the juice itself is a dark, dark ambery green that’s almost black. I like Deixis, but I don’t think it’s love. I need to try his Creosote … or just be happy that I acquired Feu Secret before it hit the chopping block.

Question: do you remember a perfume line from Prescriptives called Color Sense? It was mid to late 90’s and each bottle was a color represented by a color dot on the bottle. I only remembered because of this CP. I remembered I had bought the white one.

Nothing to do with the new year, the holiday season, or the new Pantone non-colour: I was in the mood for vintage Hermès Rocabar, which, a quick check of the database informs me, I wore 6 times this year, second only to Mitsouko (with 8 wears). It’s bitterly cold and windy today but I do have to head out into it, so I thought I’d bolster myself with something warm. I mean, in addition to a heavy wool coat and a huge scarf.

Rabbit rabbit rabbit -Happy New Year! I hope everyone has a good 2026: peacefulness and good health. We spent last night watching episodes of the 1959 series The Twilight Zone ( my son’s idea as he likes Black Mirror). I’m not sure it was ever on TV here and it’s so bleak. One episode: an H bomb is dropped killing everyone except for one man who loves books and reading. After wandering through the destruction ( feeling lonely and hopeless) he eventually comes across a destroyed library and all the books he’s ever wanted to read. He orders them into piles, is extraordinarily happy and then ….his thick glasses fall from his nose and shatter into pieces. I think Burgess Meredith was the actor and I think he was also in The Day of the Locust ( another bleak movie). Anyway, grim enough to put me to bed by 9pm so Happy New Year! Wearing Journey for a better start to the year.

Kanuka, as a kid growing up in the 70’s I watched a ton of The Twighlight Zone episodes. The reruns ran in the afternoon and monitoring what kid’s watched hadn’t been invented yet. I blame the show for a lot of my unnecessary worry about getting eaten by Aliens or finding myself in another dimension ( which does happen sometimes when I punch in at work. Lol) the episode you watched is considered a classic ( and is why I am afraid of vaults!)

Like lillyjo, I watched quite a few episodes of the old “Twilight Zone” TV series as a tween. The most disturbing one for me was the one with people trapped in an inescapable prison. They turn out to be toys in a child’s toybox. Creepy.

Kanuka and others: I own the complete DVDs and regularly watch The Twilight Zone. The stories had several different writers, with Charles Beaumont’s often being the scariest. But many were very thought-provoking. For one of the best, IMHO, time travel themes ever written watch The Last Flight which was written by Richard Matheson. Also check out Changing of the Guard, written by Rod Serling. Happy New Year-were are almost there😸

I’ve been off perfumes for quite a while, hence the lack of posting, but decided to wear an old favorite today in honor of the New Year: Anné Pliska. I smell soft and fluffy! Just the thing for a swamp tour of the Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge, which is where I’m currently residing. An official Dark Sky park, I’m hoping tonight won’t be too cold or cloudy to get out and try some night photos on the old iPhone. The positive side of this very cold weather is the torpor of all the reptiles that call the park home and the lack of flying and biting bugs…🦟🕷️🪲

I’m taking a break from the CP to wear Guerlain Habit Rouge EDP. In Ukraine, we often choose a scent to match the upcoming Chinese Zodiac year on New Year’s Eve. Yes, we know the Chinese New Year comes much later. 😄 Anyway, 2026 is going to be the Year of the Fire Horse, and red is one of the lucky colors. So there’s red in the name and packaging of Habit Rouge, and the perfume itself was designed as an homage to equestrian art.
That’s a cool tradition Ukrainians have regarding the Lunar New Year.

I’m doing the CP early, with FM L’Eau d’Hiver. I do find it more of a grey-lilac than a pure white, which is funny since I usually draw a blank with matching a perfume to a colour. Definitely glad someone had already mentioned it.

Like many of you, we’re staying in tonight, will be getting dinner in from our favorite steak place just around the corner and then tuning in with 🍷 to the NYE programs 📺 in front of a 🔥.
SOTD is probably one most of you have probably never heard of: Avon Extraordinary from 2005, my traditional NYE scent of sparkling champagne 🥂 and dark chocolate candies 🍫. I still have the original catalog page from 2005, which shows I paid all of $25 for this unusual beauty in its elegant columnar etched-in-gold bottle – and got a free gift of necklace along with it to boot! Top notes are fruity with a bit of pepper and sparkling champagne notes; midnotes include orchid and a few other florals with a bit of ginger and chocolate; base notes are a mix of woods and musk and creamy vanilla. It’s very unusual and to me smells much more niche than a mere Avon scent. Perfect for celebrating the birth of a New Year!🥳

Having a steak place right around the corner?? Wow!
And their skirt steak made with potatoes, garlic, jalapeños, and oregano in a fantastically flavored spicey sauce is unlike any other. It’s a beautiful place, expensive, but they offer carry outs so we split a dinner at home and add our own 🍷 and it makes a special treat along with their burrata cheese made with pesto, arugula and balsamic reduction. Even splitting one dinner, we have leftovers.

I’ve been on a myrrh quest for the holidays-another winner was Kenzo Flower. Once I read that it contained opoponax I could recognize it easily among the other notes.
