Tuesday scent of the day 11/25

Posted by Robin on 25 November 2025 84 Comments

It's Tuesday and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Birthdays: Joe DiMaggio, Percy Sledge. RIP Jimmy Cliff. What fragrance are you wearing?

I’m in Lush Silky Underwear. Tea at the moment is Jasmine Pearl Tea Co Bombay Breakfast.

Reminder: on 11/28, pick your Black Friday poison: wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it's too expensive. (We've done this project several times.)

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: top image is detail from Still Life with Tea Cups by by Pieter Gerritsz van Roestraten (1630-1700) via Wikimedia Commons, public domain.

Wearing Infusion d’iris today. I think this is going to be my cold weather work perfume. Not looking forward to all the insanity at work. It’s always rough 2 days before a holiday since I work at a grocery store.

I visited the Guerlain spa that opened in the Waldorf Astoria, the space is amazing and very big! I enjoyed all the amenities. Got to smell Jicky which I never smelled before.

Also tried L’instant Magic, or something like that?
I see Initial is gone from their line up, and so is my SOTD
Angelique Noire is also one I love

Today I’m doing all the housework and errands in Boucheron Trouble, a pleasant, inoffensive root-beery amber, not troubling in any way.

I bought that when it came out, and really liked it. Then a good friend told me I smelled like Root Beer, and I was so “troubled” by the comment and comparison that I got rid of it!

Gaynor gave me a bag of samples the last time we met and I have been wearing them, off and on. Yesterday and today’s scent is Mind Games Ruy Lopez which is a dark plum and tea scent which I really like : very plummy without being boozy. But the price , goodness, around NZ$1000…not that it’s available here. I’ve enjoyed wearing it though.

Ruy Lopez was a sample that a sales assistant dropped in the bag when I bought something, I nearly fell over when I looked at the price! I’d have quite liked it at a quarter of that 🙂 .

Yes, I have seen those in some stores here and I got a nice array of samples from one of the generous SA’s I know at our local great shop Kuhl-Linscomb. I think I also liked that one. However, the line as a whole seems way too gimmicky for me with the chess names and the absurdly elaborate bottles with their “chess-piece” hats. If you see what they look like you’ll see why they think they can get away with those prices.

Getting ready to head out the door for our Sir Paul McCartney experience later, wearing my concert tshirt from the last time I saw him – in 1990!

SOTD for now is BBW’s Into the Night body lotion and body spray, will add a couple of drops of Habanita extrait for the concert later.

    Happy Tuesday to all!🎶🎵

I went on a grocery run this morning and I sincerely hope I didn’t forget anything because I’m not going anywhere near a store leading up to Thanksgiving! I’m going to spend the rest of the day slowly tidying up the house, but I tend to work best under pressure so I’m sure the most cleaning will be tomorrow. 😝

SOTD is Fancy Nights, a really great cheap thrill that was mentioned in the patchouli chat this past weekend.

Good luck tidying! Popped into Whole Foods to stock up on their dal soup, which is 25% off on Tues if you buy 2. What pandemonium, it was out of stock and someone’s child was coughing away in my vicinity. Was relieved to escape the checkout line!

I am wearing Safran Troublant today. I made a pecan pie on Sunday and I think I will give away half before I eat the whole thing.

I adopted a cat from the Humane Society last Thursday. She is a Snowshoe and my first short-haired cat in decades. Right now she has chosen to live in the guest room closet on top of my ski boot bag, but she comes out for pets when I open the door and is eating, drinking, and pooping very well. I hope to introduce her to my other cats sometime this week.

Out the door very early for fasting labs sans makeup. Scary.

Home for shower and lots of sprays of Silky Woods. Tossing laundry in and listing stuff on eBay.

I bought the new Air Pod Pro 3s this weekend. They are fabulous and last for more than 8 hours on a charge.

My sisters’ world famous ( well, Gainesville famous) once a year only vegan banana bread arrived last night.

I will treat myself to once slice after an hour on the treadmill and dryer things folded and put away.

I’m wearing Jubilee Inspired Fragrances’ version of Dune. I don’t normally wear intentional dupes, but I bought their baby powder perfume, and they included a sample. It smells fantastic and lasts much longer than the original. I’m thinking of exploring their designer-discontinued fragrance dupes now. They do a version of Stella.

I’m in vintage Chanel N°22 EdT. Such glorious stuff. It’s very sparkly, so I think it’s in good shape, but it’s the only N°22 I’ve smelled, so what do I know?

Boy, would I love to smell the parfum someday. I hope Chanel reconsiders its discontinuation of the extraits.

Wearing Fendi Theorema l’Homme from a very kind swapper at our last swapmeet. Really like it, although nothing like the women’s version. It’s kind of fresh smelling – light spice, light woods. Very pleasant.

Hanging out with grandkids this week so everything I wear will be lightish.

Very nice! I should wear this more often!!!

I finally got the proceeds check for selling stock. I went to a branch to inquire about Roth 401(k). I honestly forgot about the $7,500 limit although for some reason I thought the max was a little higher. Anyway, I just found out that apparently, the threshold for taking advantage of the 0% long-term capital gain is $48,350 (double for married filing jointly). In any case I have a few more financial moves to make before yearend.

Palate cleanser for whatever reason you need it: fixing typewriters! I remember my brother and I lugging our Olympia luggage (see what I did there 🤣) to our aunt’s place to learn how to type!

Still continuing my patchouli exploration and forgot I had some Coromandel EdT so I’m wearing that. This has a lot of other things going on besides patch but it is so lovely that it takes my breath away. It also reminds me that I need to retry it next to Borneo 1834 next time I have a decant. IIRC, Borneo is more austere. Uncle Serge not pandering to anyone’s sweet tooth with that one.
Another well-blended scent with patch that has come to mind is the original Bottega Veneta. Not prominent to my nose, but it’s there. Stay chill out there, people, it’s a madhouse. Dawn, special thoughts going out to you in grocerylandia.
