Indie perfume house Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has launched Snow Angels, the brand's limited edition fragrance for Holiday 2025. Among the other new-ish launches from the brand are Black Death Cherry and Cherry Daydream.
Snow Angels ~ "This is truly a milestone: 25 years of creating Holiday Fragrances!! [...] Snow Angels opens with a frosty and sparkling snow accord that quickly bring forth a white hawthorn blossom note. Hawthorns blossom early, often while there is still plenty of snow and to my mind, these delicate blossoms mimic the lightness of new fallen snow. The heart note continues the wintery-white theme with a fluffy white rice accord accented by pillow-y mimosa. It all lies on a bed of cashmere musk and a soft sugar cookie dough accord… not too sweet or buttery but filled with warmth and a kind of child-like happiness. Laced within the sugar cookie dough accord are accents of lemon zest and subtle almond… just enough to bring the holidays to life."
Black Death Cherry ~ "With a name like ‘Black Death Cherry’ I knew I had to go over the top and so I started with the accord ‘black maraschino cherry’; which is simply a maraschino cherry that has been soaked in liqueur for so long that it has turned ‘black as death’. From there, these cherries get charred on a slab of cherrywood so that the skin curls with singe and the edges caramelize as they burn…bringing the sugars to the top. The result is a bright, sweet, slightly boozy, dark red fruit cherry fragrance with edges of embery smoke, charred wood, and burnt sugars. It’s ultimately pleasing and delicious… and so, so wearable."
Cherry Daydream ~ "A soft and fluffy, fruity floral confection; the scent of the perfect late Summer afternoon. Focal notes of ripe cherry, pink peppercorn, pink rose petals, cassie flower, heliotrope, star jasmine, sandalwood, musk, and vanilla."

Black Death Cherry sounds like it should be my next ice cream…
(And in case that wasn’t clear, it also sounds like something I should smell, and more appealing to me as a holiday fragrance personally than Snow Angels, although she does do great holiday fragrances in general)
