Dior Sauvage Rare Blend ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 8 November 2025 6 Comments

Christian Dior has launched Sauvage Rare Blend, a new limited edition luxury variation on 2015's Sauvage for men.

Sauvage Rare Blend is an exceptional edition of just 15 bottles, designed with the utmost luxury in every detail. Francis Kurkdjian chose to revisit the Sauvage composition, creating an exclusive olfactory trail by elevating its depth and intensity to new heights. This rare vintage is housed in a dark crystal bottle crafted by the master artisans at Baccarat.

Through traditional perfume-making savoir-faire, Francis Kurkdjian created three infusions of precious ingredients: oud, vanilla, and labdanum. He then assembled them with the precision of a master spirits maker crafting an exquisite vintage. This extraordinary concentration of intense aromatics creates unrivaled, intoxicating complexity.

"Taking inspiration from the world of spirit-making, which is really quite close to the world of perfume-making, I chose the technique of assembling infusions. This rare edition of Sauvage is as exceptional as a superior vintage created by assembling natural raw materials infused in an all-new way to create a ‘blend’, a unique inflection.” Francis Kurkdjian, Dior Perfume Creative Director

Dior Sauvage Rare Blend is $16,500 for 350 ml.

    SIXTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS.

That is an awful lot of bafflegab to try to sell that for 16 grand.

I guess someone will buy it. Someone who did not ask me first what they ought to do with their extra $16000, that is.

I have some thought along the lines of prior to 1990 or so, any department store in a major city sold perfumes with exceptional ingredients. Adjusted for inflation, those “exceptional vintages” today would sell for only several hundreds of dollars.

This is so true! For that much money I’d rather track down a bunch of really excellent vintage fragrances.
