I'm going to need to be out of town the next two days, so I'm doing the community project today. Points, but barely, for the slightly quirky All Good Things from Lush.

I’m in a generous amount of cologne Indelible. also took an extra minute for hair and makeup, and I was gad cause I just met with a new customer. Nice to feel like you look your best when meeting new customers. Makes me feel more confident, even if I did put my lipstick on while I was stopped for road works 🙂

I’m wearing a new scent today – Francesca Bianchi The Dark Side.
I thought Halloween week would be the perfect time to try it, and yes – it fits the mood! A dark blend of animalic notes, incense, woods, and spices. I must confess it’s a bit too much for me – the heavy opening is rather overwhelming. But once the fragrance settles on my skin, it becomes cosier and softer. Color me intrigued.
I’ll keep testing it – probably during fall and winter power outages – I can already imagine myself prowling dark streets, wearing a headlamp and this scent. Who said an energy crisis can’t be fun? 😈
I love that you’re choosing to “spit in the eye” of the energy crisis, Glannys. I have Sex and the Sea neroli, by FB. I have samples of her other scents. A lot of them feel dark and rich as soon as they’re applied but I find them all wearable. I’ll have to try The Dark side-I like your description of it 🙂

I don’t think I have! I think I have samples of six or seven of her fragrances-I’ll look when I get home.
Carole, you could say I’m making light of a rather dark situation (see what I did there?). Seriously, though, for now I’m in a better position than many Ukrainians, so I can afford to laugh about it.
I’ve tried Sex and the Sea Neroli and really enjoyed it (got a slightly larger decant) – such a unique combination of warm animalics and fresh, bright neroli. The Dark Side is my second scent by Francesca. I also have samples of Byzantine Amber and Libertine Neroli, but haven’t tried them yet. Have you?
Glannys, I was almost enabled by this interchange and went to the FB website, but fought it off as I’ve already decided on my Xmas fragrance gift to myself. Such compelling writing! Even if I can’t smell this or others (I’ve had my eye on Luxe Calme Volpute for awhile), I’m wow-ed by your imagery!

Yes and I regret not buying it when I had the chance. But it is expensive and Mr Engineer had a big birthday last Jan 2 so I splurged on him instead, which I was happy to do at the time. But now it’s sold out on their website ! Hopefully I can track it down elsewhere.

I have at least 3 flashlights and a dozen glow sticks stashed in various spots around my apartment. Because!
And I have a headlamp, four camping lights, and one battery powered lamp with a motion sensor. Or, and rechargeable LED bulbs in the hallway.

I’m back after a long and fun but tiring trip to Boston, New Hampshire (fall colors! freshly picked apples!) and then Baltimore (conference + great restaurants and seafood + museums + Aquarium), and my SOTD is Ormond Jayne Woman, which others have mentioned as their CP choice. It fits, and it matches my new sort of military dark green top–a favorite color of mine–and can I say, LONG-SLEEVED, because we finally got that long-promised cold front so that it is 60 degrees this morning rather than 80+ like yesterday was?
That sounds fun! I have not been in any of those places in ages (how was the Baltimore Aquarium? probably have not been since my son was little0 but hope to be in New Hampshire in mid November. The fall color will be gone, oh well!

Hope Ineke is doing ok as a business, they have not released anything new since 2019, wow time flies.
Some of you may remember I joined a horse riding program that ran from spring through August. I just learned the man who ran it passed away this week. A few weeks ago, he laughed when I asked where to ride in winter—“I’m the best,” he said, and he truly was. I learned so much from him, about horses and about myself. I cried a little in my chai today, but such is the cycle of life.

I am dragging my feet today. Canceled my morning plans and still haven’t taken a shower but I’m being a domestic goddess and wearing Angel Liqueur, heaven in a bottle if one is craving a gourmand with layered base notes. Yum.
I’m making a dip recipe that my friend made for a few friends, we dipped vegetables in it and I think it would make a good base for a wrap, too. Here’s the recipe:
8 ounce softened cream cheese
8 ounce Mayonnaise
4 ounce can chopped ripe olives.
Mix the cream cheese and sour cream until well blended. Stir in olives and chill.
For being so simple, it was absolutely delicious with veggies and crackers.

I am wearing TF Cherry Smoke from my new bottle. It’s as nice as I remembered–it doesn’t punch you in the nose with cherry the way Lost Cherry and the cherry Manceras do. This is a wispy cherry, not too sweet, that I can wear anywhere.
I do not have a cherry at all, I am sadly behind the times! And I miss my Luctor et Emergo, that was *my* cherry.
Nothing quirky here today. Very chilly so went with Coco Noir.
Time to break out the warming perfumes here, too. Have you had a hard freeze yet?

Yes…the bottles are cool. I bought the discovery set and a couple samples of their newer scents. The discovery set has underwhelmed so far and the perfumes are pricey even by today’s crazy fragrance standards.

SOTD = Tom Ford Amber Absolute
This bottle is from the 2nd iteration (and last?) of the perfume. It is just as good as the OG. Christophe Laudamiel who was at my first Sniffapalooza mentioned that he was not even told it was ding discontinued. Apparently, the thickness of one of the ingredients gummed up the works. It is NOT scary nor horrifying nor particularly good for Halloween but I am happy to have the bottle and to be wearing it today.
In other news, I will be participating in a financial seminar on Social Security (free food, why not?). I will report back tomorrow!
lillyjo, if you are reading this, I saw your comment about not getting text from your sister (cousin?) even though she can get your text. I had a similar but different issue which started two years ago when I couldn’t send out text to some people. I tried to diagnose the issue but in the end I just gave up because 1) it was only happening to a few people 2) I mostly could not send to more commercial companies and 3) if they really want to reach me, they can call or email.

My scent of the day is remnants of Or du Serail. Not really by choice. I had discovered that my bottle of it had been evaporating a LOT. So I ordered some vials that seem very leak proof and decanted my bottle today. The decants aren’t pretty, but at least they are secure.
I hate when this happens. Lost half of my Brin de Reglisse mini due to evaporation via a faulty sprayer.

At 4:30 this morning, I heard a noise that every cat person knows and dreads. Yep. Teflon was throwing up. Fortunately for me, not on the bed. Good thing I have a mini carpet cleaner for these occasions.

I remember that sound from when I had 2 cat’s. It’s a great alarm clock! Hopefully TK is feeling better.
Teflon’s medicine has nausea and vomiting as potential side effects. So it might be that. When I first started giving it to her, she wouldn’t eat at all. So the vet suggested a reduced dose which seems to be working.
Instant wake-up from that! I hope she’s feeling ok today and you get better sleep tonight.
I was already awake for a middle of the night bathroom break (TMI). Meant that I could clean up the mess and not step in it later on.

I picked Black Orchid today to go with the cp. It’s definitely an odd one. I can’t imagine wearing it as a signature scent. I think it wears me, and I only sprayed twice.
I finally gave mine away. I liked it one minute and then another day I hated it. It is an odd one. However, sometimes it is wonderful!
I have a sample but couldn’t find it earlier today; I have one more place to look.
Black Orchid is definitely a weird one. Glad I got the 1oz bottle when it was still easily gettable.
Not to horrify you but a while back, I had a colleague who used to spray twice my usual number of sprays (16!) and she reeked. Normally I wouldn’t use the word reek but she put on SO MUCH that I ended up subtly telling her she had overdone it. The result? She kept on doing it. Ugh!!! 😩
