We're marking the first weekend in October with a viewing poll, which we haven't done in the past couple years. Coming up soon: the fall reading poll (on the 18th) and the splitmeet (on 1 November).
So, the “visual media” version of our fall reading poll. Tell us...
...what fragrance you're wearing today?
...any great tv shows or movies you've discovered recently, and/or
...anything else fun you've been streaming (exercise videos? cat videos? anything),
Or, as always, just talk about something else...

Right now testing a blend I made with vanilla bean pod, vanilla extract and Eden Botanicals clear labdanum essential oil in a jojoba carrier oil. Getting ready for Christmas as I’ll be gifting these in rollerballs to family and friends.
Am really enjoying The Chosen which brings the Bible to life.
Not streaming but listening to The Model Health Show and Reveal, both of which continue to inspire me to eat well and live a healthy life.
That’s a lovely Xmas present!
I think that’s how Ko Malone got started: mixing scents as gifts for her clients!
Nice to hear that you are still working with essential oils.
Wearing Bulgari blue tea, to be low key. I just started listening to Frozen People, the new novel by Elly Griffiths and it’s pretty interesting so fa.
Is that the time travel one? You like it? I couldn’t decide if I would read it or not.
It is. Not sure how science-fictiony it will turn out, or maybe thrillerish. I do like the characters, which I eventually figured out was why I didn’t warm to the Magic Men series.
I did not warm to Magic Men either!
Happy Saturday!
Sotd a new sample BDK Impadia. I admit when I read the bottle looked like a Rothko, I had to get a sample. So far, so good! A woody floral. Let’s see what develops in the afternoon.
Watching: after seeing the Emmys, I streamed The Studio. 😆😆😆 Also, given I’ve moved to stage 4 depression for the grieving process, I’m rewatching Ted Lasso for the millionth time to life my spirits.
A beautiful weekend to all!
Gentle hug, LesLiesse 🌹
🤗🌹
Aw, they are doing a new season of Ted Lasso just for you!
Here’s hoping for a 3 season arc!
I quite like Impadia. But very similar to Guidance 46 which I already have.
Today I’m in Krizia Uomo, which is basically a gin-soaked leather jacket in a pine forest. I’ve been wearing it since the mid eighties and have never tired of it.
I’ve been subscribing to the Criterion Channel since it launched in 2019: there are new things to see every month. This month the first thing I watched was a 1981 film called Nightshift, and it is GORGEOUS and AMAZING. Nothing happens, exactly, so if you need a lot of plot or character it’s not for you. (The trailer is on YouTube and will give you a good sense of it.) The entire movie takes place overnight at a boutique hotel in London. The impassive night desk clerk says little and reacts to nothing: she goes about her job with the placid, eyebrowless look of a Renaissance madonna. Hotel customers come and go, she cleans the lobby and counts the till and prepares the morning’s continental breakfast, she eats a meal offscreen while a co-worker complains about work, and sometimes she just experiences the night, occasionally drifting off into a reverie. I’m so happy to have been able to see it.
There’s a YouTube channel called Kurzgesagt that produces excellent, short(ish — 10 minutes or so) animated science videos that are always worth watching. The most recent one is about pregnancy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zpq1GbPqhy4) and it’s fascinating and horrifying in equal measure, because the woman’s immune system looks on the pregnancy as a sort of invader that might be a threat and the embryo has to broker some kind of peace between the two bodies. As the narrator says, “Biology is beautiful, and brutal, and metal!”
Wow — if you had said “bourbon soaked leather jacket”, I’d have been in trouble.
There was a time I would have loved that movie, but no more.
Unless I am forgetting something (which is possible), I have not seen ANY movie in several years and I am not sure why, it’s puzzling to me but I only watch series now. Sometimes I start a movie and then just lose interest.
Gin-soaked works for me on the leather. That and single malt scotch-soaked!
Nightshift sounds intriguing in a Dinner with Andre way. Will have to check it out.
I love Kurzgesagt! Their quality is so so high and the birds are sooo adorable! I always feel like a child back in science class with the teacher deciding to treat us with a VCR clip when I watch their videos.
Thank you for all these recommendations. As for. Krizia Uomo, that is a new one on me, but it has now gone on my test list based on your description!
I’m doing a second testing of Maria Zappas Petrichor this morning, and waffling over a few samples currently sitting in my LS basket. Honestly, after confessing to Donatella the largest number of additions I’ve ever confessed here, why on earth am I still in acquisition mode? Yeesh.
Anyway, the rest of my poll responses:
We’ve gotten hooked on Hacks recently. I’ve loved Jean Smart for decades, and Hannah Einbinder’s slightly cringy assistant portrayal is pretty delightful. As for other streaming material, Mr. G regularly “shares with me” (read: subjects me to) bizarre videos that he stumbles across on reddit. Lots of car and motorcycle wrecks, idiot skateboarders injuring themselves, goofy animal videos … you get the idea. I try to keep the eye rolling to a minimum. Reminds me of an old joke from (iirc) Joan Rivers: “Might as well marry a younger man — they don’t mature anyway.”
SheriG – remember waffling is a key skill and you need to practice it.
So true! But this time the waffling ended with “well, at least I’m not blind-buying any full bottles!” 😂
Not sure who actually said it, but I love the quote!
Your husband might like the videos ’Chef Reactions.’ a very droll chef reacts to some of the amazingly bizarre cooking videos online.
Post shower am sampling Dior Rose Star.
Watching the Morning Show on Apple TV.
I can so relate after working for so long at Disney – ABC. Studios – and I have worked at many across all of Los Angeles and in NY are all insane. Or, at least they made me crazy.
Watched all of Someone or Somebody Somewhere. Loved it.
Watching Department Q.
Listening to A History of Africa in my car.
Listening to Stevie about Stevie Nicks on audio around the house.
Reading King of Kings on my kindle app about the Iranian Revolution.
Big summit call with my sister on Monday – should we go or cancel NY trip since I have been sick. TBD.
Hope you are feeling better and can make your trip!
My grad school daughter and her boyfriend are going to see Stevie Nicks next month in the twin cities!
Cool! Been close to 50 years since I have seen her or Fleetwood Mac.
Grad school? Time flies!!!
I do hope you are feeling well enough to go, just see how Monday is. Covid made me very tired for awhile.
I hope you can go!!
I do hope you can go apsara! I really recommend The Studio to you. At least watch the pilot where Seth Rogan’s character tries to convince Martin Scorsese to direct a film featuring Kool-Aid (their version of exploiting the Barbie doll IP)! Needless to say, hijinks ensue!
Lots going on and active, per usual.
My 2 cents, check in with yourself and think whether or not your vacation will be even enjoyable.
Feel better.
Fingers crossed that you are soon 100% apsara.
Sure hope you feel well enough to enjoy your NYC trip with your sister.
I’m enjoying a weekend at home after a couple of weekends away helping my mother. She’s doing well, thank you all for your kind thoughts – my mother thinks it’s amazing to get best wishes from people on the other side of the world!
I’m still enjoying last night’s Miel de Bois on my clothes, and contemplating something warm and spicy for today. It’s dull and wet, maybe Rousse, staying on the SL theme.
We’ve recently watched the first few episodes of the latest series of Sandman, I think that calls for incense notes, maybe also smoky and leathery notes. Of course, as it’s about dreams, anything could be appropriate.
Enjoy your weekend at home. I love traveling, but it’s always nice to be home too. Glad your mother is doing well!
Very pleased your mom is doing better!
I’ve been contemplating watching Season 2. I don’t know if all the horrible sexual abuse Neil Gaiman stories will let me enjoy it though.
SotD is Jordan Samuel Ferragosto from a sample. The ad copy reads: a late-summer reverie—bottled. Inspired by evenings in the hills of Anacapri, it calls to mind the final days of August: sun-warmed apricots, fresh cut grass, figs split open by hand, laughter still lingering from lunch, and the breeze shifting just enough to remind us the season is starting to slip. It really is perfect for today, as we are having another record setting day with temps in the upper 80s.
I have been teaching madtowntwenty how to drive manual transmission. She picked it up pretty quickly. We spent the first several practice sessions in our nearby cemetery where she just drove around and around. Today we headed out of the city where she could actually drive. She will be a pro in no time.
Watching: Northern Exposure. We are in the 5th season. I think when it gets done I could just go back to season 1 and start re-watching. It’s the TV equivalent of a warm bubble bath. I swear I have a pavlovian response to the opening music and my brain instantly starts releasing dopamine. lol.
Learning to drive a manual is a useful skill, I’ve driven one since the 70s ☮️
I love Northern Exposure too and have watched the series several times. I’ll watch it again this winter.
And this weather! I wish SO much that this high temperatures/low humidity could be stored somehow, to be opened some day in February. I’m so ready for the cold front.
2nd Northern Exposure. We go eat at the real Brick restaurant when we go through Roslyn to eastern Washington. They make a great burger.
Love those manual transmissions! Floor or paddle shifters?
I get you about the dopamine release. That’s a perfect description for me and Ted Lasso!
SL Chergui on left arm, Myrrha by Fiele on the right. Loving both and they are great together. Perfect fall weather here — just back from a long walk.
To watch:
Oldies but goodies:
We loved Derry Girls (Netflix, I think) coming of age for a group of girls and one boy in Catholic high school in Ireland, set during the time of “the troubles”. Quite funny as well as moving and thought-provoking.
The Detectorists (Britbox via Amazon Prime) Two eccentric metal detectorists hunting for treasure in beautiful English countryside. Gentle humor.
Ongoing: Sheltand series (Britbox via Amazon Prime) British detective series with incredible Shetland Island scenery, taking time to build the story and the characters in a nice way.
Just finished: Corner Gas – Amazon Prime (another oldie that we just finished) wonderful humor, fun characters, small town life in Saskatchewan.
Corner Gas is so good! That’s my home province. I noticed in the credits that some folks I went to high school with worked on the show.
Derry Girls was fantastic; I’ll have to look for The Detectorists. Thanks for your recommendations!
I would have loved to be one of the people working on the show (Corner Gas). So great! And yes, check out The Detectorists!
I enjoyed Derry Girls when we had Netflix. The Detectorists sounds soothing.
It was and I loved the ending. You just have to go with how slowly it moves. We were not sure at first but ended up really liking it.
Hugh Shetland fan HUUUGE! Love the two different fragrances on your arms. Double the pleasure.
Thanks, LesLiesse. Yes, I hope they keep Shetland going, but I’ve heard this may be the last season…(noooooooo).
Please, no heartache today!
🤞🏻
For Watching,
I forgot to add for the exercisers among us:
– HASfit.com
– nourishmovelove.com
Both excellent sites for all kinds of workouts, but especially for strength training, IMO.
Great sites- thanks!
I have seen all of Derry Girls and all of Detectorists twice over 🙂
I’m on my third watching of Derry Girls…
The writing is so sharp, I picked up things on round 2 that I missed the first time. I estimate round 3 for 2027 🙂
Another hot summery day today; it’s 86 degrees right now and yesterday it got up to 89. Relief is supposed to come on Tuesday with seasonal temps in the mid-60’s finally. I sure hope so, because my October fragrances are lined up on my vanity and it sure ain’t feelin’ like October!
I really enjoy my October scents, most of them fit the Halloween cp at the end of the month. My SOTD is AG Mandragore edp, based on the mysterious mandrake root, with its ties to folklore, magic and witchcraft. It’s an unusual scent, kind of woody and earthy and with a bit of spice and it makes a good transitional scent from summer to fall as it’s not too heavy.
Started the day with brunch at a Filipino restaurant to celebrate my DIL’s birthday – she’s been a wonderful addition to our family and I’m so blessed that they settled in Chicago and not her native Boston. Never had Filipino food and it was delicious! More music for us today – it’s our local community college’s annual Guitar Fest. Mr. Laila is there now enjoying a free workshop and tonight we’ll be going to a guitar concert there. Last night’s cello concert was awesome!
Will give some thought to the poll questions for later. Wishing all a wonderful evening ahead!🎸🎶
You smelled great today Laila! I envy how much live music you see, have a great time at the concert tonight.
There is so much talent everywhere, and following the local musicians (and I’m sure you have many talented ones in your area) that we do has reinforced my belief that as nice as it would be to see some famous ones (that cost a lot to see), it’s so much more rewarding to do what I do. These artists know who I am, they talk and interact with me after their performance, and genuinely appreciate my fandom (not to mention the cost of seeing them perform is way way less than famous names). Also, they tend to perform in more intimate venues, and last night and at tonight’s guitar concert we sat just 5 feet away from the musicians and enjoyed seeing every nuance of their performance, every emotion that crossed their faces. It really doesn’t get any better than that for me!
I totally agree about the musicians. I seldom venture out these days for performances in general but the less known or even unknown artists have been so worth it. I just seem to have trouble finding out about performances, or having the time to go.
Speaking of media, one of my guilty pleasures is watching music videos, mostly from lesser known artists. My husband is a huge fan of The Graystones.
Laila I’m not familiar with your sotd but it sounds perfect for the spooky season!
It is, and I have lots more for the season! 🎃👻💀I started having a monthly theme that I somewhat follow for each month in an effort to use more of the many fragrances I have accumulated over the years. Plus it adds a bit more of a challenge to an already interesting hobby.
SOTD = Theodoros Kalotinis Coffee Addict EDP
The usual … went to a baby shower with my sister and BIL and wanted to “behave”. The baby shower was excellent with ~ 60 or so people excluding kids (there were 4 I think). It was the same venue where she held her bridal shower and it had been renovated to seem much larger. The mother-to-be organized the whole thing, down to the decorations and the games. Overall, fun!
As to the poll, I recently finished Thursday Murder Club (Netflix), Wednesday (Netflix) and House (Prime, oldie but goodie). I will be reviewing the comments to determine what I should watch next but really, one cannot run out of things to watch.
How was Thursday Murder Club? I did read a couple of the books.
How are the books? I am thinking of buying them.
I thought the first 2 were fun, and it’s a great premise. The third was a little less fun for me, and I did not finish book 4 and I have pronounced myself done. But I might watch the series.
The plots get more and more preposterous as they go on, as some mystery series do, and at some point it seemed silly to me…your mileage may vary of course!
Thank you! I bought the first two. I’ll read book 1 before watching the film.
I really enjoyed the books, especially the first one. And even though I enjoyed the movie, I thought the book was so much better, so much more nuanced.
I loved it! I now have to check out the books.
Wearing L’orpheline and smelling great. My decant is going fast, I need a bottle of this.
I’m still watching Turner Classic Movies and I have tons of things recorded to watch. They do some cool things, like evenings of films from certain directors, and I feel like I learn new things which is fun.
Rear Window tomorrow night! Will rewatch, even though I can recite the dialog at this point 😉
One of my favorites, too 😊
It’s still hot summer here, 90’s, and today I wanted something fruity and fresh, but not orange. I spotted my sample of Vilhelm Mango Skin and sprayed with abandon, and am very happy with my floating cloud of deliciousness. This is a fun and, in my experience, pretty, light, not too sweet or plastic perfume. Reviews suggest that others dislike it–too bad.
As usual I am limited in what I can mention here due to my dedication (aka addiction) to K-dramas and films almost solely. My book club recently read Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. The writing is beautiful, but it’s probably a good book club choice because it’s hard to figure out what the author is up to in this strange enterprise.
I can definitely recommend the drama Tempest on Disney/Hulu, if you have it: it’s political, tense, thrilling, of-the-moment, with the added appeal of a very hot romance. Only 9 episodes. In the end, though, I cannot rate it more highly than Our Movie, on the same platform, which is surely the best of this year. (It’s VERY sad, but once you start it, you know that in advance.).
Finally, a good friend who is now in Japan (she’s Japanese but lives in the US) is in Tokyo now and has just seen and raved about the new three-hour film Kokuho, It’s about a gangster’s son who gets adopted and raised by a great kabuki actor and turns out to have a real talent for that art. I had independently seen good reviews of it, so it’s on my list of things to watch for when they get here to the US–along with, OF COURSE, the new film No Other Choice by my beloved Korean director Park Chan-wook. Each film has already gotten the Oscar foreign film nod for its nation and received strong reviews at international film festivals. Can’t wait to see them.
If you like Korean variety shows or cooking shows, I recommend “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator” aka “Chef & My Fridge” on Netflix. It’s 8 chefs going head to head with each other using whatever is in the refrigerators of the guests of the episode and they only have 15 minutes to cook! The chefs are famous talents like Edward Lee and it is amazing what they can do in such a short time.
Thanks! I’ll check it out. I can see the influence of the cooking contest shows in some k-dramas, such as the recent one “Bon Appetite Your Majesty.” It’s also on Netflix and is a fun time-travel show of a modern prize-winning cook going back in time to an earlier period in which she becomes the chief cook for the emperor and they have various cooking contests, such as one with some visiting dignitaries from the Ming Empire who have brought their own chefs. It’s got some quite amazing cooking scenes and meals.
Yes! That’s on my to watch list!
If you are into food shows, there are 1-2 episode Korean docu-series that are really well done – A Nation of Broth, A Nation of Kimchi, A Nation of Banchan, Korean Fried Chicken Rhapsody, Korean Cold Noodle Rhapsody….just don’t watch with an empty stomach!
You smell so good!
Wore Shalimar Philtre today. It’s a really beautiful take on Shalimar and I love it more with each wearing somehow. 🥰
Things I have been watching…
Disclaimer: lots of escapist streaming and some perfume buying has been happening in my house the last several months…you may relate. 😅
On Acorn…
Blackshore
White Lies
The Chelsea Detective
Brokenwood Mysteries
On Netflix…
Orphan Black
A.P. Bio
Wednesday
Avatar The Last Airbender – live action…not nearly as good as original animated series but how could it be?
On YouTube…oh so many perfume reviews…. 🤣
Persolaise
The Scentinel
Wafts from The Loft
Nice to see you She-ra 👋
Happy weekend!
Sotd is Dior Bois Talisman.
I finally watched Wednesday. I can say my absolute favourite character is Thing. He is just so darn cute and expressive! Who knew 5 digits and no dialogue could convey so much? Wednesday on the other hand (no pun intended) started of tolerable but her rudeness started to annoy me half way through season 1 and if she was a real person, boy, would I avoid her.
This weekend I’ll be watching The Thursday Murder Club. I had been saving it.
Maybe I will start Thursday Murder Club tonight…
I am wearing a sample of SL Fille en Aiguilles. By description, I should love this but so far it is just meh, so it is fortunate that I got a sample to discover that. I am all-in for the pine but the background spice note reminds of shaving cream. It is improving as it dries down.
Yesterday, I sampled Harvest Mouse. It was ok.
We are watching Slow Horses on Apple and just finished Unforgotten on PBS. I am really big on British crime dramas.
I am using NY Times cooking app almost every weekend I am off. The recipes are fantastic and varied, really there should be something for everyone. I subscribed to the NYT for the news but I swear it is worth it for the cooking app alone.
I do watch a few perfume reviews a week on YouTube. The Perfume Guy was my original. But I also like Anne Lauren, Sam with My World of Fragrance, Hayley Clough.
Still quite hot here. I am looking forward to some cooler weather.
I love LOVE slow horses!
I was coming here to mention Slow Horses as well. I am looking forward to watching the new season when I’m back in town. i’m kind of thinking of re-watching all the earlier seasons in order as well or maybe re-reading all the books but we shall see. I know the TV show is several books behind. I read in the New York Times that this season Roddy has a larger role. He’s a very well written character bigger than the computer nerd profile would suggest.
ITA on the NYT subscription. Quite enamoured with the recipes.
Joining you in your love of the British mysteries, definitely my favorite.
I have a sample of Fille en Aiguilles that I can only wear in very cold weather. Otherwise, the musk takes over and it becomes much less interesting to me.
Spending Sunday morning in OJ Woman. It’s been a long time since I wore this one, and I’d kind of forgotten how incredibly gorgeous it is.
So nice to revisit an old friend!
My dad discovered the Halo TV series that was canceled and now we are watching that right now.
Pulled out some vintage Miss Dior edc and wearing that today.
Heard good things about the Halo TV series!
For Sunday, I’m wearing Kiehls Musk and Clair de Musc together, I was just in a musky mood I guess. It smells wonderful.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everyone 🌻
I am a day late now, but hope you had a good weekend ringthing!
Wishing all a Sunday full of lovely Sun!
Cousins coming over for Chinese food tonight. So Sotd is a layering of The Harmonist Guiding Water for its lotus notes and Sacred Water for ginger and mandarin orange. Plus The Harmonist seeks to bring principles of Feng Shui to fragrance.
Stated up to watch season opener of Saturday Night Live w Bad Bunny as host and Doja Cat as musical guest last night. Favorite skit is when King of Iberia circa 900 AD decides to create the Spanish language, making all nouns either feminine or masculine but not in a logical way. The funny part is when they try to justify the assignment. As someone who’s been on Duolingo for years for French I can tell you that this is the bane of my language study.
Here’s the video:
https://youtu.be/jn9AFMKlGLA?si=JXZbTlSp-7EEzFZE
Fragrant wishes to all for a beautiful day!
I did not stay up for SNL but watched lots of it on YouTube today, and I loved the Spanish skit.
Just got back from St. John the Divine—the largest cathedral in North America—for the annual Blessing of the Animals. I loved seeing all the birds they brought in, and I completely fell for an owl right away. Of course, the horse and alpaca were my favorites. Watching the long lines of dogs and cats waiting to be blessed was so sweet.
Yesterday I went to the opening at NYPL featuring North African and Middle Eastern communities in New York City. For that I wore Oud Alazen by Hermès. Today at church I had on Comète by Chanel, and later, after a shower and while meeting friends, I’ll switch to Lune Feline.
Shows I’m into right now:
Finally catching up with Yellowstone (Landman is also good)
The Girlfriend on Prime
Slow Horses on Apple
My pups were at our Blessing, as well. Yours sounds a lot more sophisticated!
yes..they do it up!
I went to college nearby and sought solace at SJTD. That blessing must have been incredible- an alpaca, imagine that!
And you smelled marvelous!
I didn’t go this year-but one of my favorites is the summer solstice program
I really enjoyed Landman too! Billy Bob Thornton is great in it.
The Blessing of the Animals sounds like such a wonderful thing to see.
It was! I have been to this cathedral for some high holidays, today it was waaaayy more crowded
Brought the pups for St. Francis’ Blessing. Ours was a little different than LTSG. We were in the church parking lot. My two terriers next to bunnies and cats.
My dogs have tasted bunny before.🤢 Not exactly nice with cats.
Either way, I smell fine. I put on the Snow Fairy Scrubee, totally forgetting its 80 out, used Let The Good Times Roll dusting powder and am going with Space Girl as I leave the house now.
Happy Sunday!
Just hearing about the Blessing of the Animals makes my heart happy! Glad your pups attended.
Hope you are having a lovely Sunday.
Aww!
I think when my family had parakeets as pets, we took one of them in for St. Francis’ Blessing many years ago.
It was cool enough this morning to overspray myself with Shalimar L’essence. Its one of those “what smells so good” scents. It’s not overpowering, instead it almost floats around you. Lovely!
I’m really enjoying Junior Bake Off; it’s a spin-off of The Great British Baking Show. The kids are all so nice and do help each other. We always laugh several times during each show; the editing is so well done.
You smell just lovely and your description is spot on!
Thank you LesLiesse! I maybe should have bought a larger size.🙂
SOTD is a very discreet spritz of the original EL Sensuous edp, since I was spending the afternoon outside and didn’t want to attract any flying creatures🪰🐝. An absolutely glorious day, not as warm as yesterday with an incredibly refreshing breeze and lots of 🌞 , perfect for an outdoor folkfest at a neighboring park district’s historical site where the first settlers of that community set down their roots. Spacious tree-shaded grounds with numerous historical buildings and an abundance of talented performers 🎶 on an outdoor stage with the 🌞 peeking through the swaying branches of the leafy trees behind them. A perfect 10👍!
As for the poll, we mostly watch our local PBS station and stream on its Passport app. We really enjoyed the newest seasons of Professor T and the Unforgotten and are looking forward to the newest adaptation of Maigret debuting tonight. We don’t have cable nor any other streaming service but do enjoy a few network TV programs: CBS’ George & Mandy’s 1st Marriage and Ghosts, NBC’s The Voice, and ABC’s DWTS. Don’t watch many movies, instead go to our local theater for the monthly Classic Film Series (Slap Shot coming up this week.)
Wishing all a wonderful week ahead! 🍂🍁🎃
I can’t decide if I will watch Maigret, that actor looks so un-Maigret-like! Do report back if it is fabulous.
I enjoyed it a lot and love the new Maigret actor. Handsome guy, he works for me.👍
Good, thank you!
I wore a lot of indolic jasmine today because Mr. allo was camping last night and I had the run of the place!
I’m gearing up for Nutmeg week and will spritz a little No. 4 Bois de Balincourt tonight.
Yes to jasmine! 😍
Digging around in the sample bag I brought with me, I pulled Stora Skuggan Hexensalbe, a licorice and witchy woodland herbal perfume. Very nice, but I have other things with these notes, including the original Lolita Lempicka, although that is sweeter. I like a lot of SS’s fragrances But so far, I’m happy just sampling them.
Money saved!
Another week, another Monday.
Nutmeg week! As a lover of spicy scents, I figured I’d have a bunch of choices, but not according to Fragrantica. But, here’s one: Histoire Eau Mauboussin, so that’s my sotd. It’s good for fall.
Are you getting the cold front tonight too?
Yes! Can’t wait! It’s terribly dry here, I hope we get some rain.
Hope you don’t get the wind that I had with the cold front!
Had a huge hankering for Estee Lauder Pleasures today. I layered both the lotion and EDP.
Nice. Hope it was a good Monday Dawn.
The most recent show I have watched is the Netflix documentary Aka Charlie Sheen. I’ve only watched the first part so far. I like Charlie, so it’s been interesting. It shows childhood home movies with his also famous friends like Sean and Chris Penn and Nick Cage.
My sotd is Elie Saab L’eau Couture. It’s a short work day because as I predicted the new manager cut hour’s.
Gosh don’t you hate being right sometimes?
I do. I am still pretty weak from being sick so at least it’s extra resting time.
Damn. Too bad that new manager is a D-bag. Hope you and your son find a better job.
We are already looking around. The trouble is that this time of year most of the jobs are seasonal. I have to think ahead for after Christmas.
Oh no, sorry lillyjo.
I am not good at detecting nutmeg, so I have to trust online sources.
Apparently, Theorema has nutmeg, and this is what I am wearing today.
Perfect choice, of course! I will wear that on Wednesday, maybe.
Happy Monday!
Sotd Zara Cocoa Bliss, a transitional w peach and passion fruit notes combining w cocoa! (Gosh, getting hungry for a snack just writing that!)
I’ve got one scent with a nutmeg bite so I’m saving it for Friday.
Fragrantica says a lot of Zara perfumes have nutmeg in them.
Thanks for the heads up jalapeño. Neither Gourmand Coffee nor Cocoa Bliss have nutmeg.
I am in Barenia Intense for Monday!
So you got a bottle?
No, I have a sample
Popping by to say that I’m feeling elegant in Iris Poudre.
And you smell amazing!
Interesting comments on this week’s nutmeg cp. Must be a favorite note of mine as I already counted 8 fragrances I have with that note!
But I’m not wearing any of them today, instead, for a quiet day at home on what is the last day of our hot weather, I chose love2love Fresh Rose & Peach as my SOTD. It smells just like it sounds and is all I needed today. Fall weather arrives tomorrow; looking forward to wearing October scents finally!
Happy Harvest Moon!🌕
Enjoy moongazing tonight, if you can!
Can’t see it now, cloudy and rainy as your cool weather comes my way. Hoping during the night as it rises higher and I can see it from my bedroom it will be visible 🤞
I counted and I found I have only 1. I will be watching the comments though in case someone has one I can copy.
I like woods and spice scents in the fall but I was still surprised at how many I have according to what fragrantica listed – I didn’t even finish reading their list when I had counted eight.
HIya NST!
It’s a chilly one here today. I think the high temp was 50 degrees F. A big front came thru on Saturday with near tropical-storm force gusts and several hours of rain in the evening. Rained a bit on Sunday as well. 🥶🥶
My car is back running just fine now. We had been planning to replace the catalytic converter on it over the weekend, and then the shifter decided to enter the conversation last Friday. Both tasks were completed on Saturday afternoon right before the sun went down and the rain came in. Yes, I did order a pizza while I was over there, my treat.
Poll answers!
1. Have discovered that one of the over-the-air TV channels is showing episodes of “Star Trek: The Aminated Series”. I watched it as a kid growing up. I’d forgotten how good it was. Pretty sure that one of the writers of the original ST had written the scripts, plus the actors from the series did the voices of their characters.
2. Been streaming cocktail videos from a channel called “Make And Drink” on YouTube. The host does a LOT of tiki drinks, which are different from exotic drinks. It’s completely escapist for me.
SOTD = Angel Comet, aka the OG Angel EdT. Finally unwrapped my bottle of it and tried it out today. The cap is magnetic! It’s definitely lighter than the EdP that I have in my stash. ☄️
Yay for getting your car fixed!
I remember when you picked up Angel Comet. I waffled on that one too long.
Honestly, if you have the OG Angel EdP, you’re covered. The EdT has some of the same sweet notes, but less intensity. My miniature has more patchouli in it than the Comet bottle.
Probably the last to post, and that’s probably fitting. I’ve got nothing on the TV show front. Much to my family’s dismay, I’m just not really into TV…after a long day, I find watching TV to be more work, rather than escapist, unlike reading a book.
I did take the kid to see Superman while it was in the theatre, which she wanted to see. As superhero movies go, it wasn’t bad…at least it had some humour, unlike some of the recent Superman movies. (I’m a Christopher Reeve fan girl…sorry. And the action in many of the recent superhero movies is so repetitive and unconvincing, while the stories are threadbare.) But then I failed on the next front — she expressed some interest in seeing Spinal Tap II, and then by the time I remembered to get around to it, it was out of theatres.
Perfumes this weekend — fall things, like Bulgari Black again. Today I ended up commando because of busyness.
Wow, Spinal Tap 2 wasn’t around for long.
