Wednesday scent of the day 9/24

Posted by Robin on 24 September 2025 78 Comments

It's Wednesday and National Punctuation Day. PSA: the swapmeet is still open for business! Birthdays: Jim Henson, F. Scott Fitzgerald. What fragrance are you wearing?

Me: still sick, still commando, and very behind on reading comments. I will catch up eventually.

Reminder: 9/26 is the first Friday in Autumn (unless you're in the Southern Hemisphere, in which case you know what to do). Wear something to celebrate the new season.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

    Hello.
Sotd is TF Oud Voyager. The only ‘voyaging” I’m doing is bedroom-bathroom-kitchen, but I still gotta smell great!
Might be the rest and ginger tea (and of course, meds) working their magic, I think I am feeling better? Still can’t talk but throat is less raw and aches are now more sore than painful. Yay.
Dinner tonight is chicken soup with tons of veggies. I might toss in some macaroni or shell pasta and make it a one-pot meal.

Wore some vintage no 5 edt yesterday and now in Jubilation 25 today. I keep debating if I should do some Uber Eats today or get a decant of the new Shalimar today.

I’ve been absent for a few days and wondering what all I’ve missed, I haven’t kept up with comments either. Don’t like it when the real world gets in the way of my fun world.
I’m wearing Yosh Ginger Ciao because I wore it to bed last night and it’s still going strong.
Hope you are feeling better soon Robin and happy888cat!

Healing vibes to Robin and happy888cat!

I am wearing Tauer Une Rose Chypre today. To me, it’s an early- to mid-autumn rose, with a touch of aromatic dryness. It opens bright, like those sunny days of early fall, then grows spicier and darker—like the season itself, with days getting shorter and nights longer. There’s something very comforting about this scent at every stage.

And, of course, it is discontinued!

    Barenia Intense for the CP

I have discovered a new bakery, now affiliation, Birley, guess they are London based. So I am starting my day with a pain au raisin and wondering what could go wrong if you start your day like this… lol

    Another beautiful summer day

I like the intense because its less fruity than the OG IMHO
        More cowhide leather chypre
Puts the meat on the original

If I can match a actress in a series who I can see wearing this fragrance it would be Beth Dutton from Yellowstone https://share.google/images/Zpc5aKsmZvpvyy1co

I’m back from my trip to the Baltic states and Poland. Successful perfume shopping, I got Josef Statkus in Lithuania, both the original incense fragrance and a new one called “Rouge.” I also shopped in Warsaw and bought a scent called “Frieda’s Thorns” that smelled to me like warm grain or cereal, but is actually a patchouli. Yesterday I had a retinal tear repaired with laser so I am taking it easy. SOTD is Rasei Fort The Oud Caravan.

Oh, I do like that Joseph Statkus! I believe I once had a decant and used it up and have not thought of it since. Good job. What is the new one like? How was your weather and scenery? Did you get spooked by any drone flyovers? (Friends in that vicinity did, and faced one airport closing.). I am glad it was a good trip. Hope the eye repair heals rapidly.

The Rouge is a rose/jasmine on a base of leather, patch, sandalwood, and musk. The weather was good most days, only one rainy one, and the Baltics are flat, flat, flat. Poland has some hills. I think all of Eastern Europe is nervous about the drone incursions, people were talking about them a lot and hoping they are not the precursors to more war.

SOTD is Shalimar L’Essence because it really is an easy reach! I was in the mood for vanilla as well after being reminded of Guerlain’s Iris Ganache (maybe one day). Guerlain vanillas are so satisfying.

Also finally posted up my swapmeet list! Always an experience writing everything down that I want to rehome — reminds me that I do not need to buy any more perfume, haha.

I scored a pristine bottle of Iris Ganache off Evil-Bay many moons ago in its original box and everything but it’s too precious to use. It sits in the back of my closet gathering dust but I find joy in just owning it. Sorta defeats a perfume’s true purpose though, lol.

      Happy Hump Day NST!

Sotd: a new sample that just arrived after back order: Lorenzo Pazzaglia sPEACHless. It’s so hot here I’m still running a/c at night, so wearing a summer fruity fragrance feels cooling.

Supposedly this scent shouts like rock and roll, but to me its scent is more like spirited cheerleaders doing a complex cheer at a warm fall football game.

Hope everyone under the weather is feeling better! Seems to be going around right now.

I’m in Lyric today, which seems like a fall scent just because it’s heavier. Of course, I put that on after showering first thing and realizing that a) I had nothing to make my breakfast with (kid breakfast was fine) and b) I should have gotten the kid out of the house before showering since now we were running late and I’d have to drive her to school. Just have to get through Sunday, and I think it’ll be all downhill from there.

Downhill good — as in “downhill stretch”. After Sunday. This week is the craziest, with command performances in the office, a deadline on a project that I can’t meet because…command performances in the office, and then this weekend driving the kid back and forth to an orchestra “retreat” (but they don’t stay there) in another city that can only be accessed on bridges with terrible traffic at all times of day. It’s at these times that having another parent can be helpful to trade off, but Mr. Ockeghem is at least enjoying his time in Europe and getting some research done.

Not much going on with me perfume-wise. I’m wearing my older Le Labo City Exclusives purchase Myrrhe 55. (From last year.) There’s been some stress in my world due to dealing with various financial matters involving my mom. I hope these will soon be resolved. It feels at times like most everyone my age is involved in some form of serious caregiving, whether of elderly parents or siblings…. When people all live longer, the caregivers themselves get older and more challenged and it’s not easy.

Hope you are feeling better, Robin! Lovely day here and we got some much-needed rain. We had Sun and clouds and there is a Fall feeling which made me thing of Angel, a 2017 version. As much as I love smelling it in the wild, I rarely wear it out. Once, when meeting friends after work, my neighbor had to swap seats and I was only in the hand cream!

SOTD is VS Angel, a fruity floral with a strong plum note that harmonizes nicely with the plum in the BBW Fall in Bloom body products I used as a base, a nice combo for a day with September-like temps only in the mid-70’s, finally!

A virtual yoga class earlier, then we took the foodstuffs donated by our guests to the local township’s food pantry. I’d never visited there before and was amazed at how many people it served; it was a heartwarming experience that kept the community spirit of the party alive.

Sending healing vibes into the universe to Robin and anyone who’s feeling under the weather and ☮️ and love ❤️ to all.

Currently sitting at London Heathrow waiting for our flight to Aberdeen after an overnight flight from Houston. Had a great time with our friends in Oak Ridge North, including a trip to Fredericksburg & ‘Luckenbach, Texas with Willie & Waylon & the boys’ – I was thrilled to see photos of Kris Kristofferson, Guy Clark & Townes van Zandt on the walls of one of the vendors & had a lovely chat with the lady there who was a big Guy Clark fan. Ate at lovely restaurants & cafes, including Compadres in Oak Ridge North & Casa Medina in Shenandoah – can highly recommend both places to anyone who lives in the area but is unaware of them – both local, independent businesses.
