Hiram Green Ultra ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 12 September 2025 8 Comments

Hiram Green has launched Ultra, a new natural fragrance inspired by the 1980s.

Inspired by the bold energy of the 1980s, where confidence and excess reigned supreme.

To me, the 1980’s conjure up images of bold fashion with big shoulder pads, mullets, catchy synth music and neon hued interiors. The decade had intense energy, confidence and a relentless optimism that inspired me to create Ultra. At the heart of Ultra the narcissus shines. Its rich and radiant character brings to life the vibrant spirit of the 1980’s. At the same me the flower’s name and its narcotic and intoxicating aroma also hint at something darker as they recall the Greek myth of Narcissus - a cautionary tale that was most likely lost on the hedonists of the decade…

Additional notes include neroli, ylang ylang, jasmine, floral nectar, leather, hay, tobacco and resins.

Hiram Green Ultra is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum, €195.

    Mullets aside, this sounds intriguing.

If he really wants to conjure up the eighties then there had better be like 150 different notes in that, because the number-one thing about eighties fragrances is that they were madly complex.

If he can accurately evoke the eighties, I would buy this in a heartbeat.

It did not seem to me that he was saying he was trying to accurately conjure up the 80s, just that he was inspired by the 80s?

Whether or not this is truly an evocation of the ’80s, I’m in to the tune of a sample, I think. But he’s one of those perfumers where I will try to smell smell anything he does. I may not love it, but it’s worth trying. (Tauer is another of those, but…he doesn’t ship to Canada now.)
