Maison Francis Kurkdjian will launch Baccarat Rouge 540 Édition Millésime, a new (extra) luxury edition of Baccarat Rouge 540 featuring natural ambergris, this month.
Sealing the alliance between Maison Francis Kurkdjian and Maison Baccarat, two symbols of French excellence, Baccarat Rouge 540 Édition Millésime is an exceptional olfactory and artisanal creation, embodying the alchemy of the senses more than ever.
[...] With Baccarat Rouge 540 Édition Millésime, Francis Kurkdjian sought the quintessence of quintessence. Without ever betraying the original inspiration, this variation has been sublimated thanks to ambergris, a rare and precious natural material. A fragrance with floral, amber, and woody notes, Baccarat Rouge 540 Édition Millésime appears in its most sovereign and refined form, offering a fusion between the minerality of ambergris, the warmth of fire, and the air breathed by the craftsman shaping the crystal.
Baccarat Rouge 540 Édition Millésime will reportedly be $28,000 for the bottle and 24-karat gold cap, plus the 8 pillar crystal base and a mirror-lined box made of spruce and leather. 54 bottles per year will be produced over the next 10 years, and purchase will include access to special events and etc etc.

Gales of laughter upon seeing the price….
I find these kinds of projects less and less funny…to me it just seems gross.
Vintage perfumes with natural ambergris do smell amazing though. I am not a fan of BR540 (and don’t care for this bottle or its base) but I can only assume it is better with real ambergris.
I, too, find these cash-grabbing enterprises to be in poor taste. They’re not really about perfume anymore, are they
Agree.
I am assuming this perfume is made in France, since ambergris trade is illegal in the United States. Even if I wanted to blow $28,000 on the most ridiculous and frivolous purchase, I would never buy anything with natural ambergris. The reason is I don’t know if it is from natural ambergris that washed up on shore or if whales were killed for it.
Yes, it is legal to use salvaged ambergris in the EU and I am pretty sure MFK makes all their fragrances in France.
I’ll take 12 please. Kidding, of course 😉
Hey, why not 54??? Buy out the year.
LOL. Good idea.
Wouldn’t have expected anything else from LVMH.
