Byredo Bois Obscur ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 5 September 2025 14 Comments

Niche line Byredo has launched Bois Obscur, a new addition to the Night Veils collection (also new: Vanille Antique and Rouge Chaotique in Extrait de Parfum).

Ten years after its first unveiling, the Night Veils collection is reborn into a new chapter, offering a captivating reinterpretation of the night. Crafted with high concentrations of fragrances, these pure essences assume new dimensions of luxury, as an invitation to explore a more intimate form of self.

Mirroring the raw, intimate power that appears only after nightfall, our newest creation Bois Obscur is a slow-burning revelation, inviting you to unfold your identity layer by layer throughout the night. Opening with the spicy intensity of saffron and the cool essence of eucalyptus, it draws you inward where smoky papyrus stirs beneath the surface. At its heart, the narcotic bloom of tuberose and jasmine meets the dark allure of an oud accord. Anchored in a mineral amber accord, patchouli and labdanum lend depth and warmth, while sandalwood lingers with a quiet, sacred strength.

The redesigned bottle strikes an elongated silhouette, with a thick glass base to visually elevate the bottle and an antique gold cap sits atop the glass neck, perfectly complementing the shade of the fragrance inside.

Byredo Bois Obscur is €340 for 70 ml Extrait de Parfum.

You paid more attention to all of it than I did. Sort of no longer interested in Byredo, and even less interested in this $$ series, with usual apologies to fans.

That is a really horrible image as someone with a snake phobia. And I’ve worked on my phobia some so there is more imagery I can handle now but tiny snakes on faces/mouths(!!!) is not one of them.

I wish they would just bring back Seven Veils and also not at the price they’re now charging for this collection. I bought a couple samples off eBay a few years ago after finishing my decant, but I’ll be sad when I have none left.

So sorry! They made 3 or 4 I really liked early on, haven’t liked any in eons, all are so overpriced I would not buy. So…

Did you try Seven Veils back then? I could see you enjoying that one. It has a carrot seed note. But no need falling in love now since it’s hard to find and pricy…

I honestly don’t remember! I liked Pulp, Flowerhead (discontinued pretty quickly IIRC) and 1996, but from the beginning I felt like the line was overpriced for what it is. I don’t own any of them.

Pulp is fantastic! Best of its genre (Sweet Fruity, that is)

I thought the red snek was part of the bottle!

That ad looks like it could be a promo poster for American Horror Story.

Also, for collectors and longtime buyers of Byredo, the bottle redesign is going to set those with OCD off.

It reminded me of The Silence of the Lambs movie poster.
