It’s Tuesday, plus World Humanitarian Day, International Orangutan Day, National Aviation Day and Coco Chanel’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I still cannot find my Chanel Cristalle, so I'm in Cristalle Eau Verte...no ylang unless you count the "abstract white flowers". Tea at the moment is Harney's CTC Assam.
Reminder: on 8/22, wear a fragrance with ylang ylang, if you have one. (This is a repeat, suggested by Kanuka.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Loop teapot from &klevering ("The Loop teapot combines artistic design with practical functionality. Its flowing handle, inspired by a loop, gives the teapot a dynamic, sculptural character") is €45 at Connox.
I am wearing Gabrielle body oil.
I feel like our summer is coming to an end. Excited that my daughter is coming home this weekend after 8 months of volunteering and traveling.
I am also excited to try some new perfumes from Guerlain, the new Shalimar and the new LPRN Honey Rose.
Oh I didn’t know about a new LPRN.
Hera with respect-no way is summer waning lol! I haven’t had enough time off yet. You smell great and I’m glad you’ll get a good visit with your daughter. Still enjoying the SL scent you swapped with me-thank you for it 🙂
You smell great!
If you try the new Honey Rose let us know how it is. I hadn’t even heard of it.
Oh, you must be excited to see your daughter after so long!
Hermes Faubourg 24 EdP for the CP.
The Internet is down. I hope the ISP fixes it soon.
And it’s back!
Good!
You smell very classy today, Glannys. Stay safe!
I’ve been up since 4am, when a loud clap of thunder shook the house. Lots of rain and storms followed but I think it’s over now. I see a nap in my future.
I’m wearing No 5 L’Eau and claiming points.
Nap sounds like like a good idea–here the storms were from 7-11 pm. The grass looks so much happier today. Scent cousins with you in Eau Premiere, ylang aplenty.
I’ll be wearing Eau Premiere before the week is over.
I will be wearing that this week. You smell wonderful!
It’s a wonderful scent! I put it on over Jergens Sandalwood body butter 😉
I need to try that. Thanks.
Ugh, too bad about the very early and unpleasant wake up call!
Still in Number One Intense from yesterday. Had to drop off Sydney this morning for surgery to get a growth of her eyelid. About the get into shower to I can head up to the grocery store to get some basics. Since it is Coco Chanel’s birthday, I will go with no 5 today.
Great choice!
No CP points for me. I’m wearing Hermann à mes Côtés, because I could not settle on any of the decants I pulled on the weekend. I only have one fragrance with Ylang Ylang in the name, so I’m saving it for Friday. I’m just wandering through decant bags this week.
Wandering through decant bags is always worth doing! And I don’t do it enough.
Wearing Fzotic Pantoum. Another full bottle thunk! I enjoyed this scent a lot. A no-brainer especially on very hot and humid days.
We are having gorgeous temperatures in the mid 70s since yesterday. I hope the worst of the summer heat is already gone for the season.
My younger sister and I are flying to Tennessee early tonight. One of my cousins, 58 years old, passed away on Saturday. He was having coffee on the porch with his wife early in the morning and in a fraction of a second he was gone. He had a cardiac arrest. He didn’t have heart problems, and his recent annual medical checkup didn’t show any health issues. He was very active and full of energy. It was shocking, especially at his age. We will be back home on Friday after the funeral tomorrow. Life is so short and I think that I am not grateful enough or enjoying enough at least the most beautiful and simplest things that we are offered every day. I feel that I am not doing anything for that to change, which is very unfortunate. At least, let’s show love and appreciation to people around us. Even a kind smile can be meaningful to someone.
Wishing you all health, peace and love! Happy Tuesday! 🌻
Oh no, condolences and safe travels to you & your sister.
Thank you, Galbanumgal. 🌻
I am sorry about your cousin. Life is so fragile. Hugs for you.
Thank you, Barqs.🌻
So sorry pl67. Safe travels and hugs 🤗 coming your way.
Thank you, Kris. 🌷
So sorry about your cousin.
Thank you, Hajusuuri!🌷
I’m so sorry for your loss, pl67. And I feel the same way-I mind little things too much. Life can be good, or better than good, a lot of the time. I hope you have a safe trip. Take care.
Thank you, Carole.🌷
I’m sorry for your loss.
I also share those same feelings about appreciation. I often feel time slipping away and desperately try to hold on to it. I’m angry at myself for wasting so much of it on the negative.
My condolences to your family pl67.
Thank you, Lillyjo.🌷.
I totally agree with what you say!
Oh my, that is very sad and I can barely imagine the horrible experience his wife went through. I agree with your reflections about how a sudden, tragic, or early death can impact your own values and behaviors. It definitely gives you food for thought and the impetus to enjoy passing beauties and try for kindness.
It was a tremendous shock for his wife to witness that moment. It will take long time for her and their 2 grown-up children to process his passing.
He was a great human being, loved by his family, friends and specially his community where he was very active. His life was very meaningful. I hope I can learn, at least a bit, to be a better person for others, for myself, and enjoy the beauty of life despite the difficulties. I wouldn’t want to leave this world having wasted most of the wonderful things that surrounds me every day.
My condolences Pl67!
Thank you, Austenfan. 🌻
Big hug pl67! Your words ring true. There’s many ch beauty and joy in our simplest pleasures especially when we share them with loved ones!
Thank you, LesLiesse.🌷
I’m so sorry to hear about your cousin. Hugs to you.
Thank you, Gail.🌷
That’s very sad news about your cousin. Sending you my condolences.
Thank you, Kanuka. 🌻
A sudden, inexplicable death like that is sobering indeed, hope the family rallying around will provide some solace to all.
Thank you, Aurora🌷. I also hope they find some peace and comfort from all the people supporting and surrounding them with love.
I’m so sorry for your sudden and tragic loss, pl67. Sending you and your family my condolences. I love your reminder to be grateful and appreciative for all we have.
Thank you, Tulipani.🌻
Adding more condolences to you and your family and thanking you for posting this and reminding us how precious every single moment of life is. Sending peace ☮️ and love ❤️ and comfort 🤗 to you and yours.
My deepest sympathies on your cousin’s very sudden passing. So sobering. Hugs to you and your family.
Gosh, so sorry. Safe travels and may his memory be a blessing.
I am wearing Hove Parfumeur Radiance and drinking a cup of Irish Breakfast tea.
I do like a good strong cup of Irish Breakfast 🙂
I didn’t think I had much, if anything, with ylang in it, but it turns out that note is everywhere! This morning I’m claiming points in Gris Montaigne, aka Dior Gris, and later on I may join Glannys in 24 Faubourg.
Yes…ylang is all around 🙂
I have lots of fragrances with ylang ylang so first up is Ferre Eau de Parfum by Gianfranco Ferre. This is a favorite of mine as it reminds me of FM Iris Poudre. Thanks to Allo, I will have it for a very long time.
😘
I probably have more perfumes with ylang in them than the ones I can think of right away.
For the CP I’m wearing what I consider the ultimate ylang ylang–not that I’ve tried them all–Perris Monte Carlo’s Ylang Ylang Nosy Be. Wow is it ever gorgeous, sumptuous and a bit spicy, too. I feel quite glamourous. I’ll be going out for somewhat belated birthday dinner with a friend this evening and it’ll be a big splurge. Hooray!
Happy belated birthday, Calypso! 🎂
I had not read your post before I left mine, happy birthday!!
Thank you, both of you! My birthday was Sunday. My friend’s was in June! However, she’s been unwell for various reasons, and only now feels well enough to go out, so we’re calling it the celebration of both of our birthdays. Houston has “restaurant week” which stretches for over a month and some nice restaurants have special deals. We’re taking advantage of that. I plan to have either salmon or scallops–haven’t decided yet which. I’ll see what I feel like when I get there!
Enjoy and celebrate 🥳!
Happy belated birthdays Calypso to you and your friend!
Happy birthday Calypso. I hope you have a great evening and a happy year
Happy belated birthday, and enjoy every bite of your splurge!
Happy belated birthday!🎉
Happy belated Birthday Calypso! Restaurant weeks are so much fun, enjoy!
I have loads of perfumes with ylang ylang, so I can easily comply with the CP this week.
I wore Jub.25 yesterday and I am wearing Cococabana today. I wonder if the slightly bitter aspect of it is due to ylang ylang.
I have loads too. Just can’t find them 😉
Happy Tuesday! That teapot is fabulous? Love the lines and color!
Sotd in ylang-ylang (another fragrance not in the Notes on Fragrantica) in the Harmonist Yin Transformation. Just ordered some more samples along w Moon Glory and the newest scent Florae Nebula. A plink is a lunchtime basking away for this sample.
I had a sample once of Yin Transformation. I remember liking it.
Plinked that lovely Yon Transformation and I felt transformed 😉 !
The teapot comes in green too…they’re really nice.
Happy to report that they do NOT ship to the U.S. anymore so I cannot succumb to temptation! Also the matching cups are super cute too!
I’m in Samsara edt for cp points. I think there’s another scent or 2 in my stash with ylang ylang for later this week.
I wouldn’t have guessed it had ylang. It’s not a note I’m very familiar with though.
I didn’t either. Like you, I’m not too familiar with ylang ylang; I had to look it up on Fragrantica!
Ylang ylang can behave like an amped up version of jasmine sometimes. It’s very heady. Definitely falls in the “yellow flowers” bucket.
I bet it’s in many of my fragrances that I’m not aware of right now.
I saw your note about 4160 Tuesdays from yesterday; definitely seen them mentioned by hajusuuri and also cazaubon!
Jour d’Hermes, which seems like it should have ylang in it, but I’m not sure if it does.
But Eau Premiere sounds like a good choice for tomorrow!
You smell very pretty even if Jd’H doesn’t have ylang.
But it might 🙂
I share a birthday with Coco Chanel …which is probably the only thing I have in common with her when I think about it. It was a bit cold and snowy on the hills for going out to celebrate but I cooked a roast and a friend sent me some cakes and we watched the Magnificent Seven . I never liked westerns growing up but I have watched a lot in recent years and really enjoy them now, especially the cinematography and wide landscape shots. Wearing Fils de Joie for the CP
Happy Birthday and I confidently state that you are a better human being than Coco Chanel.
Happy birthday, Kanuka! 🎂
A very happy birthday, Kanuka. And I for one am glad you have little else in common with Coco Chanel.
Happy Birthday! May all good things come your way in the upcoming year!
Happy Birthday 🎂 Kanuka!
Happy Birthday!💐 Coco Kanuka has a ring to it😊
Happy birthday!🎉
Have a wonderful birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Wishing you a joyful birthday in a joyful scent!
Happy Birthday Kanuka!
Happiest of birthdays to you Kanuka!
Happy Birthday Kanuka!
Happy birthday!! So glad you managed cake and a good movie even if it was too cold to go out.
Austenfan already said as much above, but I think it is lovely to be reminded once a year that you have nothing in common with Coco Chanel.
Happy birthday belatedly! Like you, I never used to like Westerns but enjoy the good ones now. I also love the landscapes and the amazing actors I’ve watched in them so far: James Stewart, Joan Crawford, Henry Fonda, Barbara Stanwyck, etc.
Last night I watched a movie by the director of The Magnificent Seven (haven’t seen that one yet, must remedy soon) called Bad Day at Black Rock. It was very good! I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it. It’s not a Western in the traditional sense, but it does take place in the desert of the West.
I’m heading to the airport shortly for a trip to visit my mother. I’m wearing Encens Mythique d’Orient and I’m taking my usual handful of travel sprays. Those are generally things with awkward bottles or too wildly expensive for me to want to carry the bottle around.
Smelling fabulous!
Safe travels, Gaynor! You smell wonderful!
Safe travels! Hope you have a nice visit.😊
Happy trails and safe travels Gaynor.
I’m wearing Frapin 1270 this morning. Yesterday I went to a Korean spa and had a scrub. What an experience! The rolls of dead skin were all over me, the table, the floor, and the lady doing the scrubbing. Now my skin is very soft but a bit dry.
Wow, I’ve never had a scrub, but I bet your skin is soft as a baby’s!
I bet that was nice.
That sounds very luxe!
Frozen red fruits and yogurt smoothie
This morning for the CP, an old friend vintage Fidji and tonight Ma Griffe parfum de toilette, I decided the extrait would be a bit much for summer.
You smell wonderfully green!
Thank you ringthing, Ma Griffe is so distinctive.
SOTD = Chanel Bois des Iles EDT
Lovely, as usual. I need to wear this more often 🤣. Even my howmanysprays8 is not quite putting a dent on the bottle! I really shouldn’t complain though. Also, if I feel like wearing the CP for the rest of the week, I can because Fragrantica tells me I have a good bunch.
In other news, a palate cleanser in case your day(s) could be (a lot) better:

Smelling wonderful in Box of Eels!
You smell fabulous!
Like ringthing and galbanumgal, we had nasty, nasty storms last night – numerous heavy downpours and more thunder and lightning than I’ve seen in a long time. Lots of flooding in the Chicago area. Adorable😺 spent the evening under the bed. Gloomy remnants today, still humid, but better days coming starting tomorrow.
Needing comfort today, I’m enjoying YR Neonatura Breathe (Soufflé in Europe) with its’ soft sandy, floral notes. I usually only do the cp on Fridays, but I inadvertently did it yesterday with Ivoire and today’s Breathe, both of which have a ylang-ylang note.
Looking forward to our monthly Green Drinks get-together with like-minded folks who care about saving our planet.
🤗 to all.
Aw, poor Adorable kitty! You know it’s nasty weather when our furry friends are headed for their favorite hiding spots.
Wow, and I think we’re expecting major storms tomorrow. Ugh. Keeping fingers crossed for my poor basement.
sotd = Chanel No. 5 EdP
Couldn’t resist wearing a single spritz of my beloved one and only bottle from Chanel. For me it’s like nothing else. 🌟
I’ve been lurking on NST the past few weeks as my screen time has been limited. One eye surgery turned into two more this summer, but things are much better now. Feeling grateful for modern medicine, though sometimes the cure seems as bad as the disease. 😆
The past few weeks I’ve worn only two scents because my eye medications have made my sense of smell go wonky. Vanille Galante and Roger et Gallet Lavande Royale have been my comforts for sure.
Wearing No. 5 today feels like a happy relief. ☺️ Cheers to any scent twins and house twins out there today.
NSTers, you all smell like a million bucks! 💵
Did you come to appreciate the limited screen time? I do hope your eyes are healing well!
Thank you, tulipani! I had a check in with my eye doctor today and everything looks good.
It did feel nice to see my phone’s weekly screen time report go down so much!
And I’ve been knitting more because I can do it with my eyes closed. 🙂
Best of luck to you with eye healing!
thanks so much Glannys! 🙂
Three eye surgeries this summer? OY! Good luck with recovery and healing!
thank you, Jalapeño! Someone told me third time’s the charm. 🤞
You smell great, but I hope you start healing soon!
Kris, I appreciate both of your kind scent-iments!
Today is the first day I don’t feel the stitches 😱 so the healing is happening. I’m grateful for that. 😊
Oh gosh tiffanie! I hope you heal soon and that you are ok.
thank you, lillyjo! I’m feeling optimistic today. 😁 I’ve lived with my eye condition for decades, and it’s been managed well enough that I’ve got full vision still. That’s the thing I’m most grateful for.
That is a real blessing. Adding to everyone’s good wishes.
Wearing Arpege today. My house guests have gone home, and I’m in the mood for something perfumey. I think a lot of the ylang-containing scents come across as perfumey perfumes to me, so that might be my theme for the week. Minor heat wave be damned!
I forgot to say: Robin, I love today’s teapot selection. The yellow is so cheerful and a perfect match for ylang ylang!
We are doing a yellow week 🙂
Yay for a quiet house and perfumey!
I adore ylang-ylang and agree it is perfectly perfume-y. Arpege is so beautiful. You smell wonderful.
I’m in Beauty Pie’s Angelique’s Letters.
I’ve been trying to make my way through all my samples over the last few weeks. Either thunking the wearable ones or making a giveaway pile of others that don’t work for me. This week I’ve got about 8 scents from Beauty Pie to make my way through.
Busy at work this week! But I’m already half way through.😁
That is what I am always meaning to do, and never actually do. Good for you!
I’m in Perfumer H Rain Cloud for my ylang ylang of the day. This is very similar to La Pluie that she made for Miller Harris if anyone remembers that one. I’ve done a side by side comparison and find I prefer Rain Cloud.
I remember! The name Rain Cloud is better too.
The recent Shalimar talk has me wearing Shalimar edc today.
I am expecting the school bus to start coming Thursday. For now I am doing too much driving back and forth for me and my car.
C’mon school bus! (Words I thought I would never ever say again in my life.)
I really get tired of driving sometimes. When I come home for the day and a family member wants to go out I say, “Ok, if you’re driving.” 😂
Shalimar EdC is my favorite. 💛 You smell beautiful.
I’m in Bois des Isles EdP. Happy Birthday, Coco. And, more importantly, Happy Birthday, Kanuka!
And you smell great Daniel!
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/iWOyfLBYtuU?list=RDiWOyfLBYtuU
Waiting for the summer heat to crank up tomorrow and Thursday. Might break a record then. Today was pretty nice, though. More school districts here have started classes, and local universities are welcoming students for move-in days.
SOTD = commando, but wearing a 50/50 mix of Korres Mint Tea and Mastic body butters.
Jalapeno, you know so much more music than I do. It’s always fun to click on your videos.
Thanks lillyjo! I listen to the radio a lot, and like a lot of different music. Remember when most radio stations did that?
Fantastic song! 🎶 I love the way it takes of at about one minute in, then twists and turns for the duration. So cool. 😎Amazing video, too.
Thank you tiffanie! It’s also super catchy. I’ve had it as an earworm for a day or two. Figured that meant I needed to share.
Perfect song!
Thanks Robin!
