Amouage has introduced Opus XVI Timber, a new addition to the Library Collection. Opus XVI Timber was inspired by the giant sequoias of California and the frankincense trees of Oman.
Opus XVI begins with tremendous monumentality: a firm, sturdy, boldly vertical expression of woods. However, within moments, the scent begins to reveal a wealth of nuances. The bright, woody facets of Cypress, Cardamom and Lavandin add luminosity. Frankincense, Juniper and Fir Balsam introduce their own uniquely kinetic energy. Finally, Palo Santo, Sandalwood, Cedarwood and Patchouli ground the whole with their uncompromising authoritativeness: symbols of a wisdom that remains firm and is not swayed by the tides of changing fashions.
Vast, monolithic and yet never anything less than approachable, Opus XVI Timber celebrates the most primal, most natural forms of past knowledge while keeping its optimistic sights set on the wisdom yet to be acquired in the future.
Opus XVI Timber was developed by perfumer Alexis Grugeon. Additional notes include pink pepper, cocoa and vanilla.
Amouage Opus XVI Timber is available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum, $395.

I’m puzzling over how a perfume can represent verticality. Also, does anyone know what the rationale is for differentiating the Opus scents from their regular ones? If I ever knew, I’ve forgotten.
Timeless pieces not subject to fashion…I’m sure there was more that I did not record at the time.

Ah, thank you Robin! That’s helpful.
Wow, that is a big dose of woods! I am interested to smell this. I started reacting negatively to some woody scents, (Breath of Go :-(, the Tauers with cedar), and so I am on the lookout for a new wood scent….Has anyone actually smelled this yet?
I’m hoping it smells more like the living trees, with leaves and sap, rather than just timber cut from those trees.
