Aesop Above Us, Steorra ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 1 August 2025 2 Comments

Australian botanical brand Aesop will introduce Above Us, Steorra, a new spicy amber fragrance, next month. Steorra is an old English word for star.

Above Us, Steorra was developed by perfumer Céline Barel, and features notes of cardamom, pepper, elemi, labdanum, frankincense and vanilla. Per Barel,

I wanted to create a ‘Celestial Amber’ — an idea that came to me while looking at the ceiling of the Aesop Collins Street store in Melbourne, which is covered with crushed Aesop bottles worked into the plaster. This immediately gave me the impression of a beautiful starry sky. Above Us, Steorra is not just a star, it's a shooting star. It is something glowing–hot and cold at the same time, a complex bouquet of spices-that leaves a luminous trail in the darkness.

Aesop Above Us, Steorra will be probably available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I wonder if this is Aesop’s first fragrance developed entirely by L’Oreal.
