It's Hump Day and and the International Day of Friendship. Happy 89th birthday to Buddy Guy (he has a new album out)! More birthdays: Emily Brontë, C. T. Vivian. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Jardin Sur Le Nil.
Reminder: on 8/1, rabbit rabbit rabbit! It's August. Wear a fragrance that will bring you peace, happiness or good luck for the month.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Love the image you chose, Robin!
I’m in a generous amount of eau d’Hadrien just because. I had purchased the 450 ml size, and was happy to get it-now supplier says they had to cancel my order cause of inventory issues. Never mind-I have lots still:)
omg I had no idea Goutal made such huge bottles but it makes sense as it would be wonderful to splash liberally on a hot day. I have, at various times, owned a 15 oz bottle of Eau Sauvage (vtg) and I still have an odd 15 oz bottle of Hermes Eau de Cologne in the blue/green bottle that Hermes used for Eau d’Orange Verte. I think this cologne predates Orange Verte but i’s hard find info online.
I’m drenched in Dzongkha post-run. Nice and cooling.
Hard to believe they won’t keep Hadrien but still!
450mLs? That’s a LOT of perfume!
Today I’m in SJP Stash, which has a lot of other things in it besides cedar — plenty of black pepper at the top — but it mostly feels like CEDAR, in the best possible way. I had some Atlas cedar oil once and this is much rounder, like all the edges have been sanded off, but it’s still so cedary. I love it.
I keep track of what I wear every day (just because I think it’s fun) in a spreadsheet/database called Airtable: they recently added an AI companion, and yes, I know, I know, but honestly, it’s surprisingly clever and useful. This morning I asked it, “what have I worn the most this year” (because I want to enjoy everything and not repeat myself too much), and after cogitating a little it responded,
“Here are your most frequently worn fragrances in 2025 so far:
“1. Guerlain Mitsouko and Parfum d’Hermès extrait – 4 wears each
“2. Several fragrances with 3 wears each:”
and then a list of those.
Which I thought was pretty nifty! It even gives me suggestions for things I might want to know: it offered to “Create an interface page for 2024 Fragrances to filter and sort by main fragrance and date worn”.
Stash is one of my all time favorites. Funny, I don’t perceive it as cedar; but perhaps it’s just a variety that doesn’t rub me the wrong way like some other cedar notes?
Maybe! It’s so interesting how different people’s perceptions are. When I uncapped the bottle for the first time, didn’t even spray it, the very first thought in my head was “Cedar!” It’s a scent I’ve always loved, and it’s really recognizable to me. But some people thought Poison smelled like grape Popsicles, so anything is possible.
That’s so funny. My initial sniff of Poison IS grape popsicle. Of course it doesn’t stay that way. 🤣
Another vote for grape popsicle. Stirred with oakmossy chypre.
Next time I wear Poison, I will look for grape popsicle.
I like Stash, too, but I wear it in the fall in cooler weather. Interesting about your use of Airtable and joining you in keeping track of what I wear each day (because, yes. It’s fun!) but I do it the old-fashioned way, with pen and paper and a special notebook kept just for my perfume hobby.
I keep a written log of every scent I wear, too, as part of my normal everyday journal. I just thought if I had it all in a spreadsheet, it would be easier to keep track of: if I felt like it, I could figure out what I wore when and why, and keep detailed notes if I wanted to. I started it January 1st, 2024, and update it every day or two. Most every Friday I add a note beginning with “NST”, and sometimes I’ll write things like “So simple, so nice” (Yves Rocher Orange et Chocolat) or “I bought this in New York on our first trip there” (Tom Ford Black Orchid) or “Probably my favourite colour. Certainly not my favourite scent” (Bleu de Chanel).
Another brutally hot and muggy day here. It is already 92 degrees, but at least it is supposed to be the last day of the heat wave.
I am in Calvin Klein Truth, because Jalapeno mentioned it yesterday and it is perfect for this hot summer day.
Iced coffee and more iced coffee to keep myself cool.
Happy Wednesday! 🌞
Hang in there with the heat, pl67! Truth is so good. I swapped my bottle years ago and it was a regret.
Truth is indeed a great summer perfume. I only have about 10ml left in my bottle. I will definitely get a new one soon, in case it gets discontinued.
Glad you will get some heat relief soon, I don’t miss New York summer experienced in the eighties and nineties.
Jalapeno’s posts reminded me that I promised to open my 15ml Truth extrait meanwhile you smell refreshing.
The extrait must be heavily! Please, report back when you decide to open your 15ml bottle.
Will do👍
Amazing how well Truth holds up in summer weather. Smelling quite lovely today!
Thank you, Jalapeno! It lasted almost 8 hours on my skin. So refreshing!
I am wearing Fig Tea, which has neither fig nor tea listed in its notes. I like it, as I do most Nicolai fragrances. Good for our hot, muggy weather.
Fig-Tea is a great hot weather scent. It’s one of my “wear any time” fragrances. You smell great!
That’s a good one 🙂
Random selection today of Nicolaï Pavlova. I blind bought the set of three travel sizes of the gourmand collection when they were released because I love PdN. This one is super fruity, pineapple especially. I can’t say the trio have made my favorites list (no gourmands there, so not a surprise) – I may offload them at some point but they are well executed.
I want to eat a pavlova.
Buddy Guy is also throwing out the 1st pitch at Friday’s Cubs vs. Orioles game.
In my sample of Eshal again, hoping this afternoon’s storms do something to mitigate the oppressive humidity.
He was sooooo great in Sinners. I really loved that movie. The Celtic vampire riverdance scene was awesome.
Jazz + baseball = bliss for me on a hot summer night
Oh yay! I do like Buddy Guy.
I’m in Dior Escale à Portofino — short-lived, but wonderful while it lasts 💚
That’s such a beautiful scent, NinaV. I also love its textured glass bottle. You smell great!
I find the bottle beautiful too!
Sometimes those short lived perfumes are the perfect thing to wear, though.
In Gallivant Bukhara again, this is smells totally different but has some of the refreshingly “dry” sensation of Chic et Boheme, so they have sort of become a pair in my mind, the one with iris, the other with ylang ylang and herbs. Summer scents, along with La Chasse aux Papillons, Summer Vibes, Fiori de Capri, and of course Dune, which is good anytime of year.
My BP is up, so I am making a concerted effort to chill about everything. Doc yesterday told me to try a truly gluten free diet for a few weeks, so I’m going to make some cornbread with sorghum flour instead of wheat flour. I have a recipe for this that is so much better than any “normal” cornbread, no matter whether you make it sweet with honey or savory with bacon bits, my husband moans with pleasure any time I feed him a piece. Also going to make some buckwheat/potato starch/oat bran muffins with apple sauce for the moisture, and sliced almonds and dried cherries in them. These also come out very good, if you make them in little muffin tins so they have a lot of surface area to get a little crispy and well cooked. Big muffin tins don’t work – I haven’t figured out how to get them to cook all the way through without over-browning.
Have a good day, one and all!
Your cornbread and muffins sound delicious and I admire your baking! I never have that urge in summer.
Well, I got distracted by cleaning my cookstove and it is now far too hot to turn on the oven here! Maybe tomorrow morning I will do a little baking, when it is cooler. I can make gluten free things that are much better than GT grocery store stuff. Just have to stir up a little ambition. 🙂
What is BP please? Ho;e the gluten-free diet will be effective, what you plan on cooking certainly sounds delicious.
Blood pressure. It seems to be all over the place. but every medication I have taken for it make me feel bad, so I am trying to control it by diet (low sodium), exercise (pretty sure if I could keep walking as much as I did when we were in France in May, that would help) and generally thinking good thoughts, chilling out, and avoiding unnecessary conflict and BS, generally – less news, more travel documentaries. LOL!
Ah, thank you!
Never heard about a GF diet impacting blood pressure before. Interesting!
It’s weird. I have sort of atypical anemia and digestive issues anyway, and my wandering BP is just a part of the mix. My doc is very good, but at this point, she’s just sorta throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks, you know? I never planned on my hobby in retirement being going to medical appointments. Oh, well. I suppose I will try another BP med in couple weeks I I can’t figure out how to keep it down…
Good luck meredifay!
Another hot day, and time to mow down the dandelions. I’m wearing SL Fleurs d’Oranger. Thanks to those who commented yesterday on my cataract post, I’m more optimistic now.
I missed your post yesterday, are you contemplating surgery? It was a breeze for me and the difference amazes me still. Just my two cents, I’ll go look up yesterday’s thread.

Happy Birthday Buddy Guy – Just saw him a week or so ago – he absolutely still brings it!
You just saw him! Details please!
someone I know took this video at the show:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkEvJU6LqgU
He’s amazing still touring at 89! Amazing!
He just keeps on going! He said he was going to stop touring a couple years ago but I guess he couldn’t stand it.
SOTM is Mediterraneo for another rather warm day.
Always perfect!
Hello.
Joining the super hot day club with 35C/95F here. I will be staying inside with the AC blasting so I am wearing the powerful Amouage Guidance 46 which I usually reserve for cooler weather.
I had to go out unfortunately. Next few days should be cooler here, yay…hope for you as well.
In No.5 l’Eau, which with luck will gently lend me support for a meeting where I impart bad news. Let’s just say Penhaligon’s new scent The Cut made me immediately think of budget cuts – alas
You smell great.
Good luck with the meeting!
Hope that your meeting went as well as it could have. 🤞
Oh dear.
Happy Birthday, Buddy Guy! Have seen him multiple times and he’s always fantastic. And happy birthday, Paul Anka, my first musical ❤️ when I was a mere child. Saw him last fall and you’d never believe he’s 84 today – looks, moves, and sounds fantastic!
In keeping with my July love of seaside, salty fragrances (not beachy nor aquatic), I’m enjoying YR Sel d’Azur today. Perfumer Marie Salamagne says it “opens the window and lets in all the energy of the Mediterranean breeze. In the light emerging from a big blue sky, the vibrations of the Cedar and the freshness of the Grapefruit zest reveal a few salty notes.” An apt description, definitely “a breath from the open sea.” In addition to the grapefruit from Israel and cedarwood from Virginia, there’s also vetiver from Haiti.
I missed the weekend poll re shower gels but like some of you, I have too many and rotate a few each month. One of my July favorites is YR Wild Algae and Sea Fennel, works very well with marine fragrances. I highly recommend. 👍
It’s been a busy week for me with various volunteer commitments but I managed to get in one lazy pool afternoon and three concerts thus far. Looking forward to the rain we’re supposedly getting later today, which is supposed to banish the long-standing heat and humidity by tomorrow. I sure hope and pray! 🙏
And hoping all of you are having a good week this far.🤞
Wow! Buddy Guy and Paul Anka!
Hope you will wake up to cool weather! I might actually manage a visit to the pool this week too.
Sorry I missed Paul Anka!
I’m in Calyx by Prescriptives.
Happiness in a bottle!
👍 so great!
Awesome stuff!
Hi all you good smelling folks! Joining the hot and humid club still but it’s finally going to break tonight with a couple of mornings in the 50F range coming up, yay!
Wearing Gabrielle again today, I think of it as citrus sparkle. I layered it with Gabrielle Essence and I’m letting them settle before I can give an opinion on how well they mix.
Enjoy your day everyone 🍊
I can’t wait to feel the air tomorrow morning!
Me too lillyjo! I’m ready to turn off the AC and open the windows.
I’m wearing one of my early perfume purchases, and one I’m still so happy that I was able to obtain, SL’s Bois de Violette.
Nice. And not one of the Serges you hear about often.
I’m wearing my favourite vanilla, A ce soir by Pont des Arts, my first perfume bought during the pandemic. It’s really beautiful and very comforting.
A Ce Soir is so nice! I wish the distribution to the US from this brand hadn’t been so short lived.
I went with Bombay Bling for a second day of perfumes to bring good luck. I was lucky to buy a set of two 15ml bottles before they stopped making this size (why?!?) and split the set with another NSTer.
I was also a bit naughty and succumbed to buying a few things from the Lush sale. 😬
Another sunshine in a bottle perfume!
I got a set of two bottles as well, a couple of years ago before they increased the price.
What Lush products did you get?
Oops see my answer to you below. I accidentally made it its own post.
Oh, are they still selling the 2 x 15ml sets? I think they’ve been unavailable in the US for a while. I managed to buy the BB set on sale so my half of the split was only like $40 for a 15ml bottle. Pretty darn good!
Lush purchases:
Green shower elixir gel from the Wicked collection (small bottle)
Mossy Bottom body spray (supposed to smell like Grass shower gel, I believe)
Coffee Morning shower jelly
Doodle Dad soap
That seems a great purchase, not really familiar with any of those as Lush seems to offer different products in different countries, though I might be able to find some of these in Luxembourg.
These are all blind buys for me except I do like the smell of Grass shower gel, so hopefully Mossy Bottom is close to that.
I haven’t checked in a while, I got mine online in tge Netherlands a couple of years ago.
Oooooooh, I’d like to hear about the Green shower elixir! I tried getting that earlier this year.
I will report back! And I think they still have some availability on the Lush app at 50% off…
Mimosa Adoration & Reverie Week continues. Today addition to Prada Infusion de Mimosa is Jones Road Shower, an orange blossom forward fragrance, from Bobbi Brown. I’m calling this combo Flower Power Shower!
Sitting outside either looking at the Mimosa trees or sitting under them is equally refreshing for the soul!
Love your combo names!👍
Looking up Shower. I didn’t know Bobbi Brown did other perfumes.
Enjoy your lovely trees🌳
It’s under the name Jones Road. Bobbi Brown sold her name to Estee Luader 25 yrs ago.
I knew she was under EL, but for some reason I thought she was still involved somehow.
2 yellow nectarines from Spain, and some strawberries later. The weather has been very pleasant but more importantly rain is forecast for tomorrow.
This morning, Cartier So Pretty, haven’t worn it in a long time and discovered it shines in the summer weather, later sorted some samples in my giant tea caddy and used the last drop of Lyric which was very concentrated and smelled a great deal of geranium in it, tonight Carner Barcelona Palo Santo from my initial sample from last year before I got a bottle, it’s indeed full of Palo Santo which luckily I like very much.
I don’t think I know what Palo Santo smells like.
It’s a smoky, sweet wood Lillyjo. This perfume is the best I’ve smelled at highlighting it.
One of the Tom Ford perfumes has Palo Santo in it, IIRC.
Cartier So Pretty is aptly named.
Isn’t it? I made a mental note to wear it more in summer.
We are finally getting some much needed rain today.
I have the day off and have spent most of it running errands. I desperately needed to go grocery shopping. I’m going to spend the rest of the evening sitting on couch and finishing laundry. ( exciting times at my house!)
My sotd was Chanel Paris-Venise but it’s worn off. I will probably put something else on tonight.
Glad you have a day off! And laundry and grocery shopping seem like okay things to do.
I should do some cleaning too, but I will save it for another day. ( except the kitchen, which is every day.)
Yay for rain!
Yesterday was my laundry day. I hate folding fitted sheets!
Ha, I have a pile of them sitting on the guest room bed waiting to be folded now, for weeks.
☔ We’re twins for rain. Enjoy some relaxing times on your day off now that you’ve dealt with the errands.
SOTD = Zoologist Bee
🐝 🐝 🐝 💛! I really should wear it more often!
I’m hoping that the heat / humidity will break soon, maybe tomorrow?
Besides the usual NJ Transit shenanigans, I could not fathom WHY someone could just brazenly walk up to a building in midtown with a visible gun and shoot in a lobby??? It is very sad that we’ve come to something like this and treat it like it’s normal.
In other news, here’s a NY Times gift article on money mistakes how to prevent it.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/27/business/retirement-saving-mistakes-401k.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Zk8.hfxa.Bc7f-lm5E2Cb&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
I was shocked too how nobody noticed.
Oh, people noticed. They just didn’t say anything.
One of my friends works in that area of Midtown Manhattan. His wife was pretty freaked out. Fortunately, he was already on his way home and safe.
Another unsettled day here, weather-wise. Plenty of clouds in the sky and temps around 80F/27C. Some severe weather in other parts of Colorado, but nothing in my area (yet). Hope it stays that way!
Tried a lipstick sample from Sephora earlier this afternoon. Had it for a while and just figured it was time. The color was a disaster, but the formulation itself is something I might look into.
SOTD = bounced back to Patou Heritage Collection Colony. This has been one of my most worn for Summer 2025, and it’s making me happy. So CP points!
You smell summery, this is the perfect season for Colony.
Thank you! Colony really shines in Colorado’s summer weather. I like it much better out here than I did in NJ.
Late posting in Tauerville Incense Flash from a generous NSTer swap. This fragrance makes me feel like everything is going to be okay.
