We're racing towards August, so it must be time for our annual shower census....do tell us about the scented products in your bath or shower! How many scented shower gels and/or bar soaps are in your shower right now? And do tell us the names / products. If you have any great scented products in other categories (hair care?) tell us about those too.
Or, as always, just talk about something else.
I still have too many shower gels to keep in the shower, so they get rotated in and out of a small cabinet next to the shower. Oldies in the mix: Lush Sticky Dates, Lush Posh Chocolate, Lush Rose Jam, Shikai Yuzu, Attitude Super Leaves Orange Leaves, The Crème Shop x Hello Kitty Strawberry Oat Milk. I need to start a use it up challenge!
My only newbies are Lush Cherry Pop, Lush Bananaaa and Lush Sunrise, and I already reviewed all 3. The Sunrise is my new favorite, so much so that I used up all my Lush Happy Hippy and did not replace it.
Note: top image via Fireclay Tile at Facebook.
Currently, I have Lush Sleepy and Dove antibacterial soap in my shower. I have to use antibacterial soap due to Peri-menopause before I can use anything scented in my shower. I have the remnants of Lyric and Epic for lotion and my Hemps lotion for every day use.
Still haven’t showered yet but about to get into the shower in a few minutes. After my shower, I will wear Cheirosa 62 since I am working today. The good news is that they are hoping to release my mother on Monday.
Best wishes for your mother, Dawn.
Dawn, hope all goes well for you and your mom.
So glad for your mother and you.
That’s great news about your mom!
These are always fun!
I just refill my amber glass pump bottles with whatever I have on hand. Right now it is cheap VO5 shampoo, and a body wash I can’t remember.
I have a lovely teakwood soap dish, and I order random soap ends in bulk from an Etsy seller. I also have a sandalwood soap waiting in the wings.
Oh, I remember! I got a bottle of Komenuka Bijin from beautyhabit ages ago, and it’s finally almost used up. We definitely need a use-it-up CP sometime!
And I put on Diva to go for a walk before it got too hot, but I’ve sweated it all off. Shower, and then more Diva.
Happy Friday + 1!
Sotd Desertland, basking & basking & basking, drowning out yesterday’s bad fragrance memory. But I thoroughly enjoy the CP!
Glannys, great idea!!!
Like Robin and probably many of us, I have a rotating group of shower gels, body washes and soaps. In the shower at present are two Juniper Ridge body washes, Redwood Mist and Cascade Forest. In the closet nearby we have three ShiKai gels, Yuzu, Sandalwood, and the dregs of Cucumber Something Or Other; Mrs. Meyers Basil shower gel; several Molton Brown mini shower gels left over from a Christmas gift set; and some really old Body Shop Satsuma body wash. The bar soaps that rotate in and out are three from Fzotic (Toasted Lilac, Bouquet Garni and Limonata), a Mediterraneo soap, some random avocado oil soaps, and a set of Eau d’Italie soaps that I’ve never used. Oh, and two or three from a local company, Molly Muriel, that the kids have gifted me at various times. Wow, that’s a lot of bar soap, and mostly I just use unscented Basis bar soap.
Anyway, for the moment the SOTM is Cèdre Sambac, soon to be replaced with the scent of dirt, ivy and blackberry vines as we have a crew coming to start cleaning up the south 40 and rebuilding a retaining wall, and I’ll have to direct them a bit.
I remember Satsuma, that was yummy stuff! I loved the ShiKai ones too; I’ll have to grab a bottle sometime soon.
It was! Their mango one was pretty good too.
Thanks to Robin’s suggestion some time ago, I have several ShiKai Yuzu bottles in a box. I really like this one and it mixes well with Lush Sticky Dates and Lush Rose Jam to tone down the strength of both of these.
ShiKai is great, and inexpensive! I first ran across it at a vacation rental years ago and was surprised that a seemingly high-end product was provided by the hosts. Being unfamiliar with the brand at the time, I thought it was some special thing that was compatible with the septic system they were on.
😂
It really is good. I was not familiar with it. I started buying it like crazy on Amazon. I know some just have a big jug they keep refilling. I started getting a three-pack since I don’t use it all the time.
My shower is pretty boring. I am trying to use up what’s on hand, or at least, most of it, before buying anything else. Cetaphil bar soap; The Body Shop grapefruit shower gel; a seaweed bar soap I bought in Galway that’s made from seaweed gathered in the region. Briogeo shampoo and hair mask, plus Lush Violet Cream conditioner for me; The Body Shop shea shampoo and conditioner for Mr. Skal. I have one more bar of the seaweed soap, a bar of Irish moss and seaweed soap, and a bar of milled sandalwood soap (purchased for Mr. Skal but it’s too strongly scented for him) to use up before I bring in anything new. (I just finished clearing a house for a late relative. It was good inspiration for me not to collect stuff. I still have too much yarn and fiber, too many books and clothes, but toiletries seem like a manageable starting point.)
Gosh that does not sound boring to me! Who makes the strongly scented sandalwood soap?
Robin, it’s Bee & Flower: https://www.thesoapopera.com/products/bee-and-flower-chinese-bar-soap-2-65oz-75g-sandalwood?srsltid=AfmBOoomwMk8BVA5fXeHO2kDUCgYSiRtts7DfMDq3iBeuGs4NhjzTLsO
I was sure that I was getting some patchouli from it, as well — which I don’t love and Mr. Skal really dislikes — but it’s not listed on this page, at least, as a note.
Many thanks!!
Only two things in my shower. Axe Dark Temptation 3-in-1 Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash, which smells like a simplified version of A*Men, is in the dollar stores for about $4 a bottle and I buy some pretty much every time I go in because I like it so much and sooner or later they’re going to run out: I think I have about eight bottles in the linen cupboard. And there’s currently a pump bottle of Dove Men Sandalwood and Cardamom shower gel next to it: I also have a bottle of their Blood Orange and Sage shower gel, and I swap them from time to time. I do not spend much money on bath products!
Also a big tube of Proraso sandalwood shave cream, another excellent cheap toiletry — does that count?
Anything counts, it’s not a test 🙂
I am impressed that you have 9 bottles of the Axe, but it’s not a bad idea because they discontinue things.
Good timing for this poll since my fancy shampoo and conditioner splurge just arrived yesterday. I’m looking forward to using R & Co Bleu Essential Shampoo and Conditioner in my shower this morning. My hairstyle used these on me at my hair appointment earlier in the month and they smell like beachy gardenia goodness. I took advantage of a 20% off code to treat myself. I’m also finishing up Garnier Fructis Pure Moisture Hydrating Shampoo and a Kroger brand knock off of OGX Coconut Milk Conditioner.
I also just bought 4 B&BW shower gels and 4 from Korres AND 5 bar soaps from Soap Distillery. I didn’t mean to go so crazy, but they were all on sale! None of the new shower gels are in my shower yet though. Right now I’ve got: B&BW Golden Mango Lagoon, Lush Ghost in the Dark, and just one use of The Body Shop Moringa left for my shower gels. Soap Distillery Sunset Fig is my bar soap, having just finished a mystery imperfect sale bar of Fzotic Lemonata.
I didn’t get a chance to comment yesterday but I wore Guerlain Cologne du 68 for Poirot. It was a cooler, cloudy day for the first half, my favorite to wear Cd68 in.
This week’s CP synced up so well with my weekend plans! In a few hours I’m going to the afternoon show of a local stage production of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Links. Some of you may remember that I posted about reading it back in May. Pure coincidence that I was invited by some coworkers to attend because one of our colleagues is an actor and is in the show!
Have fun, therabbitsflower!
Thanks, ringthing!
Hope Murder on the Links was great fun!
Tempted by the R & Co Bleu, I do not have a fabulous smelling shampoo at the moment.
It was so much fun and very funny!
Let me know what you think if you give the Bleu line a try. And definitely wait until you can find it on sale. They carry it at BeautyHabit, and I also think if you sign up for emails from R + Co., they’ll send you a % off code.
Yay!
And thanks, will do that.
Happy weekend!
My bath collection is quite Lush heavy but I try to have a mix of other brands. So here goes:
Body – From Lush: Hello Kitty and Friends, Creamy Candy scrub, Botanomancy scrub, Posh White Chocolate and Rose, Super Fairy. From Rituals: The Ritual of Karma salt scrub and also the shower gel, After Sun cooling shower gel. From Loccitane: Amande scrub, Verveine gel. From MFK: BR540 soap.
Hair – From Lush: Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo, Fairly Traded Honey shampoo, Candy Rain conditioner (you NEED TO try this! Ahhhmazing!). From: Moroccanoil conditioner.
Sotd is Galop d’Hermes.
Do we do a “What’s in your body/hair care corner”? I’d love to know what everybody uses! Maybe a theme for next weekend’s post, Robin?
Candy Rain amazing because smell or works great or both?
And will add to list!
It smells lush (sorry for the pun) and very mosturizing as well! My hair is very dry and has some damage from colouring and this leaves my hair soft, shiny and tangle/frizz free.
Sounds like something I need then, thanks!
I have a few Dial shower gels and many from BBW. In rotation is also Lush Rose Jam, Lush Sticky Dates and ShiKai Yuzu.
For years I have used products for my hair by Lanza. My hair stylist uses a lot of the products in this line, and I really do like many of the shampoos and conditioners.
SOTD is BBW Rose body wash and lotion and Guerlain AA Rosa Rossa.
I will have to look at Lanza, I have never heard of it.
We have one small bathroom in our little old house and we’re pretty basic as I’d rather spend my $ on other things. Since it’s summer, there’s a big bottle of Dr Bronners Peppermint Castile soap. There’s also a bottle of
Old Spice Body Wash GentleMan’s Super Hydration for Men in Vanilla and Shea, which is very moisturizing. For hair, giant bottles of Dove shampoo and conditioner, and there’s always a bar of Dove soap for my face. I have more in the way of body lotions and oils than body washes.
Sotd is Shalimar edc and PoaL hand cream.
Dr Bronner’s peppermint is so invigorating and cooling in summer.
My son buys me Lush Rose Jam for Christmas every year, so it’s on regular rotation in the fall/winter. Currently I have Yves Rocher Coconut. I usually have a few scents from YR. Next up will be Monoi for the rest of the summer. Then I’ll work into less summery scents. I don’t really have any high end scented body washes, too fleeting. As for fragrance today I’m wearing Goldfield & Banks Ingenious Ginger as we battle traffic on our way to the Cape Cod place belonging to our Boston friend’s sibling. I’m sure it will be lovely when we finally get there…
You must be long since on Cape Cod, hope you are having a wonderful time!
Happy are the sons who know exactly what to buy, something that they and the recipient love! May Lush never stop selling Rose Jam! LOL! It is in my winter rotation every year….
I am still using the no name persimmon body wash (it’s a giant bottle), and sometimes Weleda hydrating body wash. I have a body scrubber thingy that makes tons of bubbles from a little bit of body wash, so they last a long time. I just started using a no-name biotin shampoo and conditioner after finishing the “color enhancing” shampoo that did nothing to color enhance but was a nice shampoo. There are a couple of bar soaps in the cupboard, some sandalwood and a lemon, I think. I really don’t care for Lush products but there is a small, ancient bottle of Flying Fox gel that’s nearly full. I should probably throw it away. Basically I do not care what’s in the shower as long as it gets me clean and doesn’t leave a long-lasting scent after to clash with my perfume.
SOTD is a sample of Sammarco Thaumas. If you have been searching for a fig+butter scent, here it is! It’s so very odd to my nose…
Fig and butter sounds like a very delicious cookie!
There’s no sweetness at all; it’s more like sauteed figs in butter.
Hmmm. That sounds a bit weird, I agree.
Hi fragrant friends,
My shower is probably a cut and paste from last year.
Oribe Silverati shampoo.
Bioderma cleaning oil to keep the hives away and Neutrogena unscented sesame oil.
Have only had about three or four flareups of hives since Covid, working from home and retiring – so am keeping this routine.
SOTD is Miller- Harris la fumee.
Has anyone seen Let’s Not Go To The Dogs Tonight? I read the book and went last Sunday afternoon. I loved it.
Keeping up with gym 13 visits in 25 days of July so far!
Do you like that shampoo? I’ve been tempted to try it but it’s so expensive!
I do, Calypso. One bottle lasts me more than 6 months. Have been using it since it came out and I went gray.
I use the Silverati conditioner as a hair treatment, and a bottle of it lasts longer than the shampoo – because eek, yes, an expensive brand…
That book was beautiful, horrifying, compelling. My entire family read it and loved it and then we read all her other books. I didn’t realize there was a movie, now I must watch. Husband just watched A Narrow Road to the Deep North, a 5 part miniseries set in 1980s Australia and a 1940s WW II Japanese POW forced labor concentration camp in Asia. Based on the book by Richard Flanagan that shook me to the core several years ago and taught me a lot. He is a monumentally gifted writer. Again, I had to track down everything he’d ever written, including a non-fiction book, an expose of how the farmed salmon industry in Australia is destroying the pristine ecosystems of the coasts to satisfy global demand.
As to shower products, still have my diminishing bottle of Yves Rocher Naturelle Osmanthus bath gel and also an Aesop neroli/vertiver/bergamot shower gel. Plus a vintage fancy bar soap from a now closed department store in L.A. – I. Magnin – that is triple milled and creamy.
I do the same. Go down the rabbit hole of all their other books.
Have you ever watched the classic movie Three Came Home about women and children in the WW II POW camp?
No but thx for the tip, apsara, I’ll check it out.
Yes, that I. Magnin soap is very creamy and satisfying to use!
Did I send you some of those in our last swap? I seem to remember…
Yes, you did!
Nice job on the gym trips!
Thanks! I hate it but I am doing it!
Passage d’Enfer soap, Dove sensitive skin body wash (which does have a light scent I really like).
Passage d’Enfer soap must be lovely.
https://nz.glasshousefragrances.com/products/380g-candle-limited-edition-breathtaking-banff
Glasshouse candles have got some really nice limited edition Northern Peaks …I thought of Calypso when I saw Breathtaking Banff ( all mountain/ forest themed).
My bathroom is basic but I do like Trikogy microdermabrasion scrub which I use on my arms and back, and sometimes my face ( it’s almost sandy in texture but is great on the body) . And I have just bought a terrific Clarins Tonic oil balm that has a lovely scent, herbal but not overtly so.
Watching a beautiful sunrise at the moment, fiery pink . Wearing Champagne
https://www.clarinsusa.com/en/tonic-hydrating-body-oil-balm-with-aloe/CS00566172.html
This looks nice!
I like that candle. I have that blue and white one during the year of the dragon that a lot of people purchased.
Yes, I remember Deva loved that candle also.
I got so absorbed in the CP that I reread Dogs of Riga yesterday but never posted because I never figured out a way to scent Wallander. Gosh those books are so well written! Smells he mentions include: diesel, musty furniture, fish, ether, blood, gunpowder, and just once, roses—but they are frozen when they take them to someone’s grave. It’s a bleak book!
Oh, and also church incense and cigarette smoke.
I have to mention something else-the KB version had this truly objectionable scene-his character is at work, and takes his shirt off, uses a curtain to wipe his underarms, then puts the same awful old dirty shirt back on. OMG. Like-the smell of that office would be like a bear’s den. It was such an anti social thing to do lol. And so uncomfortable, plus the character still added a bath and a nap. Maybe a nutritious snack and a bottle of water. What he got instead was more murders to solve lol.
That was a day well spent-I love those novels, and I loved the Kenneth Branagh tv series. I also loved the two Swedish mini series-if you haven’t seen them I’d say both series are worth your time!
He is too bleak to scent!
My shower is also a repeat from last year – I save the scented splurges for perfume!
We’ve got the plain house brand soap from the supermarket, an unscented moisturising bodywash and shampoo and conditioner for blond hair.
Post-shower, I think I’ll spray on TF’s Noir de Noir. All the references to noir crime stories made me think of the name.
oh yeah that was a perfect one for Mystery week. And a gorgeous scent!
SOTD: Acqua di Parma Cipresso di Toscana
SOTE: White Linen
Body washes:
L’Erbolario Assenzio (Absinthium) – nearly gone, will be replaced with Korres Citrus gel.
Lush Strawberry Heart jelly
Soap bars:
FuturePrimitive Soap French Lavender
Lush Christmas Lights
Body oil:
Phytorelax Hemp Multi-purpose Dry Oil
Hair:
FuturePrimitive Soap Rosa Passiflora hair rinse
ACURE, Curiously Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner, Lemongrass & Argan Oil
FuturePrimitive Soap Grandpa’s Rhubarb & Roses Whipped Soap (technically a body wash & shampoo, but I use it as a shampoo)
Forgot the hair oil – Dr. FORHAIR – UNOVE – Silk Oil Essence. Comes in 2 scents, and mine is in Tender Bloom – fresh musky floral, very pleasant “girly” type of scent.
I’ve used that L’Erbolario Assenzio shower gel in the past and really liked it. In fact, it got me to order the perfume, which I ended up preferring on my SO than on myself.
That whipped soap sounds lovely!
My current shower gels are YR Olive & Petitgrain and Chanel Paris Venise. Chanel bath products are such high quality, if wincingly expensive. I bought some Bodyshop Yuzu gel and plan to add some Paris Venise perfume, in the hopes that this will make a good and reasonably-priced substitute. Oddly, I don’t wear the perfume too often
Hope the DIY works well! I’ve actually never tried that.
Salt & Stone – Santal and Vetiver
Wonder Valley – Hinoki
Native – Eucalyptus & Mint
I have almost bought that Hinoki at least 20 times. Some day!
I don’t generally use a shower gel but at the moment have been using a bottle of Parfums de Marly Delina gel that I got at last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and it’s quite nice.
This afternoon I stopped in at Ulta to look for some items and I tried a few perfumes I had not sampled before. I tried several of the Billy Eilish scents and was not impressed. I also sprayed on samples of Prada Paradoxe and liked one of them, that was NOT the intense, but I’m not quite sure which one it was. It seemed both pretty and fairly rich, in the sense of delivering a good and lasting scent experience. I may try it again and invest in some.
I admittedly only spent 3 seconds on Paradoxe, on paper, so will be curious to hear which one you liked.
Original Source Juicy Mango shower gel ( I discovered this inexpensive brand when I first moved to the UK, never saw it anywhere else, the lime one is also terrific)
La Toja mineral salts soap bar (a Spanish brand I discovered in Spain)
R&G Oeillet Mignardise soap as always, my brother bring them to me from France
a small bottle of Hermès Neroli Doré shower gel, have had it several years, gwp, very good but too expensive to get more, I’ll stick to the perfume
E45 dry scalp shampoo
L’Oréal Elvive extraordinary oil.
I once had a sample of Hermes Sur le Toit shower gel. It was very nice. Like you said, too expensive.
Yes, hopefully samples will come our way again.
Sotd Parfum d’Empire Corsica Furiosa.
Burning a Tomato Leaf candle from Trader Joe’s which is amazing.
Currently in my shower:
-Oriza L. Legrand Heliotrope bar soap.
-L’Artisan Passage D’Enfer bar soap.
-Demeter Dark Chocolate shower gel.
– Dove Sensitive Skin foaming body wash.
– Bath and Body Works Cucumber Melon shower gel.
Two inexpensive and fun gels that my nephew bought at a pharmacy from his recent trip to Spain:
– Tulipan Negro Besitos de Fresa (Strawberry Kisses) shower gel.
-Tulipan Negro Yogurt y Frutos Rojos (Yogurt and Red Fruits) shower gel. I am keeping for winter time from the same brand Leche Merengada y Canela (Meringue Milk and Cinnamon),
and Unicorn Marshmallow.
The one’s from your Nephew sound super fun! How nice of him!
2nd! I want Meringue Milk and Cinnamon.
They are really fun and they do not smell too sweet, which I love!
Your Unicorn Marshmallow showergel sounds like it would be perfect for hajusuuri!
I agree! 😀
I’m trying to use up my summer stash of shower gels.
Right now I have BBW Tropedelic and Tree Hut Pineapple. I also have BBW Gingham Gorgeous and a fun one from Daise called Cherry Whip. Daise is from Ulta and comes out like a shaving cream. It’s only 5 dollars. My daughter mostly uses that one.
I am going to look for Cherry Whip!
It is pretty fun! The line must be popular because I saw they raised the price now to $6.99.
So glad to see you posting today, lillyjo! I heard what happened in Traverse City, Michigan. I was worried about you.
It’s awful what happened.
Thank goodness for the innocent bystanders that were able to stop him until the authorities got there.
yes. glad you and your loved ones are ok, lillyjo.
It’s a beautiful hot day here. Still thankful my cat came back, and I’m reading a Charles Todd mystery book. I do love this author’s works-started as a mother and son writing team. the mother passed away but the son continues. I’ve been reading them for 20 years.
In my shower: La Roche Posay cleansing gel, and cleansing oil. These have almost no fragrance and they’re great for removing dirt and oil. I like their almost no scent and it brings back good memories of my mom. I also have some L’artisan shower gels from last year, and some Eau d’Hadrien bath gel from a discount site.
Speaking of Goutal it looks like they’re dealing back their distribution in a big way. Can people in the US still order through the website? I think they’re going back to visit us in France to buy our products. This is probably my favourite house so I have to confess… I panic bought a few things. So let me confess to a 450 ml eau d’Hadrien (yes-almost half a litre) and Ninfeo Mio in that pretty grey green glass from ten years ago. Just in case I have to order this from France in the future. I don’t like panic buying but I do fall into that trap-same as when Serge Lutens dialled back on their North American offerings.
I hear you on the panic-buying. Sometimes it is only an unfounded rumour, but a time or two I have been very relieved indeed to to have a backup
I must confess to couple of panic buys myself. I also bought Ninfeo Mio (it has been my most frequently used scent this summer and I feared not having it in the future), Rose Absolue (a FOMO-driven blind buy, and I don’t regret it), and Songes, which I already had a small bottle of and loved, but which only recently stopped making feel as if I were wearing a cocktail dress to the farmer’s market. And now I want to wear it all the time, everywhere.
I know their French website says it will not be doing e-commerce, but the US site (last time I checked) still was, though some fragrances were currently unavailable. All my purchases were from discounters.
Rose Absolu is on my to buy list, too, but I bought these two plus Here Exquise first. What do you think of RA, scaresbears? I really love it. I couldn’t fins Songes on their website-well, I could see it, but it was sold out in both sizes. Songes is beautiful. Even Eau de Sud wasn’t available. All my purchases were from discounters, too. Goutal is my favourite perfume house.
I think Rose Absolue is beautiful! I’m no good at analyzing notes or the development of a fragrance as it wears, but it is (to my nose at least), realistic while remaining sophisticated. I found it on fragrancenet, and Songes at fragflex, which I had not used before and which still seems to have the 100ml edp. I will be sad if we’re witnessing the end of the Goutal story. I’m also tempted by Heure Exquise but trying to maintain some semblance of self-control!
Hope everybody saw this:
https://freebox.it.com/2025/03/18/the-goutal-brand/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E
In general their last rebranding (2018) appeared to be a complete cock up. Hoping Interparfums will do better, but not counting on it.
Seems wrong, somehow, to have a small business like Goutal folded into a much larger one. Fingers crossed, and I’m glad I have a generous amount of Goutal products on hand.
After work last night, my dad turned on Happy Gilmore 2. For a sequel, it wasn’t bad. When I first heard that Happy Gilmore was getting a sequel, I was less than enthused for many reasons. Why wait around 20 plus years to make one and what was the point?
Wearing Epic 56 today from a dabber today since a full bottle is not in the cards and won’t be for a very long time.
I’m hoping to watch the sequel this week. I pretty much love everything Adam Sandler.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a The Wedding Singer sequel.
A Big Daddy might be ok.
What do you think of Epic 56? I’ve been curious but also not making much effort to try it because I figure a full bottle would never be in the cards. Also, I already have plenty of regular Epic.
I adore Epic 56, it is a deeper, richer version of regular Epic. If you have a bottle or two of regular Epic, you are doing pretty good. If Amouage released a bottle of Lyric as an exceptional extrait, I would be screwed.
I’ve seen some Amouage sample sets which contain Epic 56. Been tempted!
I have been working to reduce the clutter in my shower, so I am pretty minimal for me at the moment, but pyramus has me beat!
For me, Malin+Goetz peppermint shampoo, Nioxin Sensitive scalp conditioner (also peppermint scented!), and Nioxin Sensitive Scalp leave in anti-itch serum, which apparently has zinc or something in it – it really helps! For hubby, Axe Dark Temptations 3 in 1 shampoo/body wash which is sandlewood forward and smells great, and was mentioned by others here, and Dove Sensitive skin Body Wash, which is very creamy and feels good on the body, and coats the entire shower with a greasy scum which takes constant attention to get rid of, but poor hubby has had very itchy skin ever since his liver cancer ordeal, and whatever makes him feel better is ok with me. For bar soaps, I have Dr. Dave’s tallow based Athlete’s Shield soap, which has tea tree oil and calendula and what not in it, and is great for helping overheated sweaty skin feel better, and the tree oil has a positive impact on athlete’s foot and other fungal itchies – I highly recommend this. Also have some vanilla and sandlewood tallow soap from Dr. Dave’s, (not medicated, so more gentle) and also lilac scented goat’s milk soap made by a friend out in Wyoming, which I stock up on whenever I am out there, and use for facial soap in the shower, very gentle and soothing. Also a partial Pre de Provence Linden bar, which is just luxurious. I keep these soaps in those handy little loofah soap bags, they hang and dry between showers, so the soaps last longer and it cuts down on dissolved soap scum! And my shower smells delicious!
SOTD is Chaubad’s Chic et Boheme, a light floral chypre perfume which I bought on impulse because I liked the name and notes – it has lots of ylang ylang and starts of pretty dry, and crisp, but sweetens up a little as the day goes on, very enjoyable to wear, and it does make me feel sort of put together, if you know what I mean. An intentional perfume.
Now off to do some more dabbing at my little painting, as it is too hot to do anything out side.
Pre de Provence Linden — ooooooh
Yes!
Hey, who makes the soap bags? I need something like that!
I have two sorts. Cleanlogic makes polyester ones that have an exfoliating side and a gentler side. You can get a batch of 3 in different colors for about $25.00 on line. Seems spendy but I have had mine for years and they are like brand new, never mold. Also have an all cotton one similar to ones you can see if you google “cotton/linen exfoliating soap bags”, for $5 to $10. The one I have is also still in perfect shape. These things greatly improve the shower experience in my house! Sorry I couldn’t get links to work, my internet continues cranky!
No worries, and many thanks!
Thank you for all the good thoughts on Friday, I’m so relieved to report that I got the all clear from my mammogram re-do. And very grateful that they were able to have the radiologist review it almost instantly and I didn’t have to wait the weekend to know. Big grateful sigh!
Everything is smelling extra good now. I wore Dusita Pelagos yesterday and might wear it again today.
Not much to report on the shower front. My trusty Dove dandruff shampoo is a staple, nothing else has worked on my flakes! Ooh, Dove has a line of limited edition shower at Target that caught my eye last week. It’s called Garden Tea Party and there was a fig one and a rose berry one that were really tempting, but I resisted, for now!
Woo-hoo! Glad it came back fine!
Nice to have that off your mind, isn’t it?
If you can get your doc to write the script for the mammogram as high risk, they can book it so that the radiologist reads it right away every time. I used to always have it because I had so many re-dos and ultrasounds etc.
But for insurance reasons not sure they will do that anymore.
Happy Sunday everyone!
Life has been fairly busy, but also winter has me hibernating mostly on weekends!
SOTD Penhaligons Vra Vra Vroom,a nice light floral scent.
In my shower currently is Dr Teals Ginger and clay body wash, also a bottle of POAL showergel which I use very sparingly because $$$!Shampoo is a red bottle from Tigi Bedhead.
Hope you guys up north are having a great summer!Einter has not been too crazy this year down south.
XO’s
Good to see you, as always!
Hi friend!🌹🤗🤗
Good to see you J B. Wanted you to know that I have still not read Spare, but I have been busy trying more iris scents this year😊
I’ve given up on Spare too…lol!
Hope you get to try the new Essential Parfums Velvet Iris, sooo good! And Dominique Ropion is the nose sooo…lovelove!!
XO’s
I will get a sample, but I think it may be too green for me.
If you mean Spare by Prince Harry, I read it and found it riveting, especially in the offhand details. If you want to know more, please email me.
J B lives in South Africa, I believe, and we have been teasing each other about the book as we both have had it forever and we never get to it.
My stepdaughter really liked it. I am not a big non-fiction reader so never seem to get to it, but I will.
I found it as riveting g as a novel!
Hello hello! Long time, no see!
Hey JB, lovely to see you!!
Happy weekend everyone! I’ve been lazing around all day and it’s been great. SOTD is Fzotic Vetiverissimo.
In my shower: Panier des Sens bar soap in the poppy scent, which is very faint. A limited edition Method body wash in the Serenity Now scent (forest-like), which is wonderful and I hope they bring it back. Crabtree and Evelyn Rosewater shower gel (it’s taking me forever to get through it).
Speaking of bath products, has anyone tried the “Lush version” of certain Body Shop products? https://www.lush.com/us/en_us/c/the-lush-version
I was totally into the Body Shop when I was in high school in the ’90s, and I loved the pineapple face wash and Japanese washing grains (adzuki). I’m tempted to try the Lush version of these and see if they’re similar to how I remember them.
Some of the old Body Shop body butters were great! But I haven’t tried the LUSH reboots, sorry.
sotd = l’ambre des merveilles + 4711
That’s been my scent combo the past five days. It’s odd that I was craving an amber scent in warm weather, but the nose wants what the nose wants. 😍
My current shower companions are TJs oatmeal and honey bar soap and Yves Rocher Monoi de Tahiti body wash. I love them both.
That sounds like an interesting combo, and would not have thought of it!
SOTD = back CK Truth again. It plays nicely even in 100 degrees temperatures.
Currently in use showergels = ShiKai Yuku, Korres Mastic, and LUSH Good Karma. On deck showergels = LUSH Flying Fox and LUSH Intergalactic.
Current body butters = Josie Maran Bohemian Fig, Korres Mint Tea, and Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange.
I am rotating between three shampoos to keep my hair happy. Two of them are clarifying, while the third is a gentle daily one which smells great (Davines Dede). Only one conditioner from Alterna.
I have been thinking about getting Flying Fox. Is it really good?
I love Flying Fox. It’s a rather indolic jasmine. So if you don’t like the funk, avoid it. It smells very close to LUSH Lust perfume, if you have tried that.
OK. Thanks. I kind of got the impression that it was an indolic jasmine. I don’t mind that, but I don’t know if I want that big of a bottle or not.
I don’t mind the indoles but be warned that Flying Fox is also pretty darned sweet. It works nicely with ShiKai Yuzu though, that brightens it up nicely. Unfortunately it also cuts the jasmine. If jasmine eo was not so expensive I would experiment…
Oddly enough, I find Sticky Dates to be FAR sweeter than Flying Fox. So I can handle sweet floral notes.
Jalapeno, late reply but totally agree. Sticky Dates is SWEET. I never used it straight after the first time, I just add a little dab to other things…it’s really good with citrus, especially in cooler weather.
The reason I ask is because I see they only have the large bottle available.
Just noticed that I misspelled “Yuzu” up above. Whoops!
I knew what you meant as I have several bottles of it😊
Sotw Prada Infusions de Mimosa!
Bathroom products:
Lush Sleepy gel & lotion, Happy Hippie gel
Living proof Full shampoo & conditioner
Moroccanoil hair masque
Josie Marian Topless Tangerine sugar scrub & argan oil body butter.
I use Moroccanoil hairspray. I see they have a perfume now too, but I have not tried it.
The fragrance is nice I think but it reminds me too much of my hair, so I haven’t gotten any.
I tried it, and agree with you. I don’t think it smells like a perfume.
How is the hair mask? My hair is getting pretty dry.
The hair mask is excellent and has that classic m/o fragrance.
OK. I was kind of wondering if it smelled just like the hair products.
Happy Monday!
It was a dark and stormy night, and we weren’t sure whether the sounds outside were thunder or air defense, which made the things rather stressful. Kora can’t stand thunderstorms, so she hid behind the couch. In the morning, she preferred to stay close to me – on the floor, touching my chair. Later, she finally moved to a chair with a soft blanket I had put out for her. But in the early afternoon, the thunderstorm returned, and she’s hiding behind the couch again.
I’m continuing the crime and mystery theme. Today I’m wearing Dior Tendre Poison for Dahlia Hawthorne from the Ace Attorney games. So lovely – and so deadly. Don’t leave your coffee unattended when she’s nearby.
Oh, poor Kora! My kitty does the same—she hides behind the bed whenever there are thunderstorms.
Larry the cat is no fan of storms, either. His fur is matting up as it does every summer so he’s getting a haircut this week and he will hate that more than thunder 🙁
Poor Kora kitty. Teflon ignores thunder most of the time, but is scared of hailstorms.
Sending hugs/scritches/whatever they prefer to all stressed kitties out there.
Hi NST!
I’ve been away for a while, going through a challenging period. I avoided wearing perfume (except at bedtime) because I didn’t want to associate scents with a difficult emotional state. But now that I’m feeling better, I’m slowly starting to bring fragrance back into my daily routine.
SOTD: Chanel No. 5 EDP
In my bathroom:
– LUSH Sleepy, Rose Jam & Happy Hippy
– L’Occitane Barbotine (great for summer)
– The Body Shop Argan shower gel (nutty and sweet in a good way)
Wishing everyone a great start to the week! 💛
Hope your challenging period is coming to an end so you can enjoy perfume again.
Nice to see you.
Hi NinaV, I’m glad you’ve come through your trying period and are easing back into fragrance and NST! Have a beautiful week!
I’m glad you are feeling better. And what a lovely scent to ease you back into a comforting, fragrant routine🌸
👋 hi! I’m glad things are shifting to a positive place for you. Beautiful scent to begin again.
Nice to see you again NinaV, and to hear that you are feeling better.
Thanks so much for all the kind messages, everyone 🙂
Last night, it hit me that Epic smells like a fancier version of LADDM. My mother is being released this afternoon and I am wearing Number One Intense today.
Happy to hear your mother is coming home Dawn!
Glad your mom is being released, Dawn. I’ll sniff for LADDM next time I wear Epic.
Happy news about your Mom!
Happy Monday to all!
I’m continuing my scent of the week in Prada Infusions de Mimosa from a generous NSTer in honor of my self-declared week of Mimosa Adoration & Reverie as our two immense mimosa trees are in full fragrant bloom. I take a mid-morning break and go outside to enjoy them while they last.
Oh how lovely to have mimosa trees! Enjoy every waft of scent.
Never have seen a mimosa tree (that I know of).

Hope this is the correct one
Thanks!
I’ve been to California twice and would remember something that striking. The most recent trip was in late Autumn/early Winter, so nothing would have been blooming. I don’t remember much about plants from my childhood trip.
And by “recent”, I mean sometime in the mid 1990’s. 🤣
SOTD for the third day running is Patchouli Patch from L’Artisan. Such a unique one, refined and not headshoppy (though sometimes I’m in the mood for that too) and perfectly satisfies my patch craving while the herbs, spice, and white musk keep it from being overpowering and there’s no amber to sweeten it up, which I like.
That was such a good one, I thunked a sizey decant years ago.
Thank you ringthing! I will !
Patchouli Patch is definitely an unusual one. I’m fortunate to have a manufacturer sample of it.
Popping by to say that I’m wearing 1000, prompted by reading that Jean Kerléo’s had died.
Glad to see him honored 🙂
I said I would report on my new purchases of iris scents, but don’t expect much as I am terrible at this. Iris de Syracuse definitely has the iris smell to it and a little spice kick to it probably due to the pear and pepper notes. It reminds me of Gallivant Bukhara a bit but has been compared to Sonic Flowers if any of you have tried that. I like it. I also obtained Blanc de Courreges that is a light powdery iris. I find it to be very pretty, but I know some people do not like the litchi or pink pepper notes. I thought it was beautiful, and you can get 3 oz. for less than $25. According to Fragrantica, they are both considered Floral Woody Musk scents and can be worn during any season. Nice additions to the rest of my iris perfumes.
Delighted you like your new Courreges Kris! That’s an excellent price, adding to the pleasure!
I thought it was a great price.
Thanks for reporting back!
You bet!
