Tuesday scent of the day 7/8

Posted by Robin on 8 July 2025 139 Comments

It's Tuesday and Math 2.0 Day. Birthdays: Louis Jordan, Billy Eckstine, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Anjelica Huston. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Arielle Shoshana Saturday. Tea at the moment is Chai Impérial from Palais des Thés.

Reminder: on 7/11, imagine you are an astronaut and you've just returned to earth after nine months in space. What scent did you miss most, and what perfume would you reach for? Suggested by Kanuka.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: the Aurora Teapot from Sunset Canyon Pottery is on back order, $197.

    Hello.
Sotd is Miss Dior Parfum (the newest one) and matching hair mist.
Lippie is FENTY Gloss Bomb Stix High-Shimmer Gloss Stick in Fu$$y. A shimmery nude rose that is soooo pretty. Think “my lips but elevated”. The shimmer is intense on swatches but tones down on the lips but provides the most beautiful shine. I am not a matte lip girl so this is right up my alley. See her for swatches! https://thebeautylookbook.com/2025/03/fenty-gloss-bomb-stix-high-shimmer-gloss-sticks.html

OHH! Fu$$Y looks like right up my alley! Thanks for sharing, I have a $10 Sephora coupon that I need to use…
I love my Clinique Black Honey but this has a touch of sparkle, which I appreciate.

Wearing Heely Sel Marin for a very hot and humid day with the temperatures in the mid 90s and the heat index in the 100s. I am so glad and thankful that I am working from home today.

We picked up lots of English and French lavender from our visit to the farm last weekend. I am using the English for culinary purposes and some of the French is in a big vase that looks so pretty and smells amazing. I will also make a couple of sachets and add some of the the dried flowers to my shower gels and liquid hand soaps as recommended by the farm owner. I am enjoying how fragrant my living room is right now.

    Happy Tuesday! 🌻

We went to the Pleasant Valley farm in Morganville, NJ. They allow you to pick up the lavender. They have at least 10 varieties. It also has a very nice shop, where we bought a couple of things.
We are planning to go to the Lavender by the Bay farm in Calverton, Long Island next year. They do not let you pick up the lavender, but the fields and the shop are much bigger.

I have several lavender plants in my garden. I like to gently encircle a branch with my fingers at the base and gently stroke upwards, then dot the pulse points on both wrists with their scent. Very relaxing and comforting!

You are so fortunate to have lavender plants at home. I was making a couple of sachets this afternoon, and my hands still smell strongly of lavender. It is definitely very relaxing.

Love the colors of this teapot. And well named, too.

I am in OJ Tiare – similar to Cristalle, it helps me get into a work mood, but it also has that exotic holiday vibe that cheers me up.

Haven’t gotten into the shower yet and still in no 5. But I am about to get into the shower and wear Clinique Happy today for work. Yesterday, my dad and I got the high boy out of my room and will get that other dresser into my room tomorrow. Yesterday was spent doing a little clothing cull and that will be sent to donation. When we get that other dresser in, I will work on my closet.

This astronaut is wearing one of my desert island (or return from space) fragrances, SL Tubéreuse Criminelle, “a poisonous, carnal and deadly perfume,” according to the Serge website. I haven’t worn it in awhile because it isn’t Mr. allo’s favorite but it sure is one of mine.

I’m going to wear all my favorites this week, starting with Glossier You. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else chooses.

Yesterday and today were just gorgeous when I stepped out of the house to leave for work with temps in the 60s. Finally! I was too busy for a lunchtime walk yesterday but today looks like I’ll be able to fit one in.🌞

This morning was a busy morning!

A doctors appointment. Then after I treated myself to an iced matcha latte at Ralph’s and people watched! My favorite thing to do in NYC 👀
I may or may not of entered one of those perfume stores near Herald Square and bought a large sample size of Omnia Crystalline for a cheap price 🫣. That is my SOTD which is blooms nicely on hells front porch today (temperatures in the high 90’s) . I almost bought one of the tea fragrances by this brand that he would give me both at a good deal, but I haven’t tried them so I passed.

Reading about the floods in Texas in the newspaper this morning and normally I am pretty immune to the horrors in this world, but reading about those young girls and my heart just broke. I put down the paper and said a prayer for everyone in Texas

My husband and I are heartsick as well. He attended Camp Stewart for Boys, also on the banks of the Guadalupe River near Hunt, for 10 years as a camper and counselor. Thankfully, Camp Stewart and its sister camp, Heart O’ the Hills, were not in session, or the loss of life would have been much worse. But one of the HOH camp directors, the daughter of Camp Stewart’s founders, did perish in the flood. Hopefully there will be a change in alert systems, with installation of high-water sirens.

I saw on the news tonight that a small town just 15 miles away along the river has 2 of the warning sirens they purchased for only a little over $70,000 each and plan on getting a third. I’ve been watching coverage on the news each day, can’t watch without 😢. Absolutely heartbreaking.

When I read about this week’s CP, the first thing I thought of was freshly mown grass. So this morning I’m in Bel Respiro, from two different decants — one is old enough that it has to be the EDT formulation. The other is more floral and is lasting much longer, so I’m guessing it’s the more recent EDP.

    sotd = Masque Milano L’Attesa!

Big NST hugs and many perfumed thank you’s to the wonderful Kris for sharing this beauty with me. 🙂

L’Attesa is a complicated thing. The opening is so much iris. It’s a root-y silver-y slightly bitter shimmer that I can almost taste, like biting into the green part of a carrot.

There’s a tinge of Ivory soap, then things begin to soften. The flowers begin to breathe, and I smell ylang-ylang, one of my most favorite notes, through most of the rest of the perfume’s development.

I am reminded of something Chanel, maybe the florals recall Beige, but there is also the powdery and iris-y notes found in others.

The whole things feels like a sculpture, a work of art and magic.

So beautiful. I’m obsessed. 🙂 Wore L’Attesa the past couple days and I’m still fascinated.

Wishing you all a terrific Tuesday, dear fragrant friends.

Thank you Lillyjo, the neighborhood of the hematology clinic is very green and pleasant like mine.

No, I’ve never tried Eau des jardin, always thought it sounded very nice.

My sotd is 4160 Tuesdays Both Sides of Clouds. One more wearing before it becomes a decant thunk.
We had a brief shower here, but otherwise the weather has been very pleasant.

Made a quick trip to my hometown in Minnesota today for a funeral of a dear friend of mine that died suddenly. I had not seen him since my mother’s funeral four years ago. Although it was sad, I was able to connect with some old friends. Decided a nice SOTD would be Chanel Gabrielle.

Yes, it was good to see some people I hadn’t seen for several years. Many of our parents were friends and they have all passed away as well. Good that the kids, all of us in our 50’s to 70’s, can still connect.

Gosh, I’m so very sorry for the loss of your friend and at such a young age Kris! I’m glad you got to go pay your respects and reconnect. I have such a special place in my heart for people who knew my father, who’s been gone since 1996. What a special connection of personal history for y’all to share!

Thanks. He was 67 and had a heart condition, which I did not know about, but was doing great going through clinical trials at Mayo. It was still not expected. My grandfather worked for his father so there was certainly connections.

I’m always a week behind so still thinking and posting about basil scents. I was surprised to read that Lauren from Ralph Lauren had a basil note, but then it made perfect sense. All that green in the ruby red bottle. I never liked it enough to buy a bottle, though all my friends did back in the day. It was ubiquitous. So only a tiny spritz for me today, but it immediately takes me back.
As to the CP, I’m torn. Returning to earth would make me want to submerge myself in natural smells, the briny ocean or rolling on the floor of a pine forest. I would not want that mediated by aromachemicals, however beautifully composed, and as much as I enjoy them most of the time.
Also, since I’m so fickle, I’d prolly stand frozen in front of my perfume cabinet for hours, unable to choose just one. That happens even when I haven’t been in space for months.

Oh, I had a travel spray of Lauren back in the day. You smell great Denise!

Luckily I sourced out a bottle of the Warner version a couple years ago; it smells so good but the sprayer is a bit wonky.

Warner & Cosmair were good. After that the brand got sold and I read the formula changed. And then it was d/c, as so many good things are in our world. Nothing has ever smelled like Lauren IMHO. Sorry about your wonky sprayer, Gail!

I don’t mind the sprayer, as I can limp it along. Like you say, there’s nothing like Lauren.

I did get a mini in an airport set a few years ago, hoping for a similar scent to the original; not even close. I wasn’t sure what I was smelling, but the Lauren I knew, it was not!

You smell wonderful!! I adored Lauren, RL’s scents have always agreed with me, I wasn’t aware of the basil note though!
I have a few bottles of the original release, I adore that marigold note. If I remember, it was a little similar to the original Liz Claiborne in the triangle bottle. Lauren being more green, LC being more fruity in the top notes.

Math 2.0? What is that, requiring proofs for addition? (I wish I was kidding about that.)

It was HOT today! My weather apps were saying it was between 96 and 99 this afternoon. I’ve been avoiding the sun and staying cool in A/C. A late afternoon Dark ‘N’ Stormy helped me to chill out a little bit.

SOTD = back in Heritage Collection Colony. It fits the weather really well, and smells great to boot!

I hope the pineapple note helped cool you, Jalapeno. I bought some pineapple gummies in Hawaii recently. They were so yummy, despite only having pineapple ‘flavor,’ that I bought some for our gummy loving kids. Signed, a gummie-loving mom.

It’s a natural smelling pineapple note, not a syrupy sweet one. So it worked beautifully!

Tomorrow is supposed to be triple digits here.

I’ve started doing some tasks after the sun has gone down, like getting the mail. I need to remember to avoid dusk, since that’s when the mosquitoes come out.

Really enjoying Colony right now. The drydown on my clothes is wonderful.

SOTD is another of YR’s annual summer releases, My Green Summer, a very citrussy green scent with a nice hint of refreshing mint. An easy summer fragrance which several reviewers have said smells like drinking a mojito on the beach, an apt description.👍

No beach (or pool) for me today, it’s back to being cloudy, rainy and muggy. Went to an interesting library program this afternoon on uncovering myths in American history and how to test the things you hear to get at the truth. Very timely!👍

    Hope everyone’s having a nice evening. 🍹⛱️

My SOTD is a blend of perfume oils from a local SF shop, Life Perfumery. It’s equal parts Egyptian Musk, China Rain, and China Lily. They are having their 15% off summer sale, good thru 7/20.

Some good news, we’re picking up a rescue kitten on Sunday, he’s a tabby/Siamese mix and has HUGE ears. They named him Oriole, but I’m searching for another name, Radar, Kiwi, or Tater. His personality is described as gentle and sweet. I may opt for Schatz, which I think in German means sweetheart. 🙂
    I’m open to any suggestions!

I never knew this but apparently, mom cats can get pregnant from more than one male cat? There’s a few that look Siamese, with darker points at the ears and blue eyes, a black kitten, and a gray tabby kitten. Below is my IG link, with Beau.
