The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 25 June 2025 7 Comments

Very old news that I totally missed last year, but I just noticed a selection of Acqua di Parma's Murano collection for Holiday 2024 (from designer India Mahdavi) at Ludwig Beck in Germany this week, so if you look around maybe you can still find one, assuming you're willing to spend the €1500. 180 ml each, and I'm not even sure what fragrance they hold, if any. I just like looking at them.

    They are very pretty.

When I got my Iris Nobile it was in a special bottle as well. Can’t remember what kind though.

Very nicely done…I would take Iris Nobile in one of those!

Ludwig Beck! I miss it so… (Not that I’m buying anything for €1500, but it’s always nice to look.)

It’s really a wonderful department store, and one of the few left standing in Germany these days. It’s a very human scale, and well curated. My spouse is an eternal fan of the music department on the top floor, where he can find early music CDs that are impossible to find on this side of the Atlantic…that’s unchanged since the early ’90s!

I looked it up and saw it was in Munich, which is probably my favourite city in Germany.

I complained when I went to university there for a year in the ’90s (all that faux, heavy “Italian Renaissance” architecture, all that Gemütlichkeit that felt forced after northern Germany), but it has grown on me over the years. 🙂 The museums alone…
