Tuesday scent of the day 6/3

Posted by Robin on 3 June 2025 82 Comments

It's Tuesday and World Bicycle Day. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Ambre Tibet. Tea at the moment is China Black Mu Dan from Upton.

Reminder: 6/6 will be Signature Friday...wear a fragrance that was your signature in the past, or that you could live with as a signature now, or that you'd like people to remember you by? From suggestions by madtowngirl and chocolatemarzipan8.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: the Peony Hand-embossed Antique Style Yue Klin Celadon Teapot ("Elevate your tea ritual with the timeless elegance of the Peony Hand Embossed Antique Style Yue Klin Celadon Teapot – where beauty meets tradition") is $31.88 at Leaf & Sip.

    Hello.
One of my signature note is oud, I mentioned note not perfume because it’s so powerful it makes many oud scents smell related. The first time I smelled oud, I was hooked.
My sotd is Oud Ispahan Esprit de Parfum. Gorgeous stuff.

Is your SOTD more feminine or masculine leaning?

I think it leans quite unisex. It has rose but is dark enough to not be “pretty”. The oud is powerful and a little dirty to rough things up too.

What perfume would you wear to a horse race?

    Good Morning NST!
No SOTD yet but I’m piping up with a fragrance I wore over the weekend that I should have worn during Turtle Week but forgot — Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche, which I find so refreshing in warm weather. Its beachy salty marine notes with just a hint of creamy Ban de Soleil really quench my perfume thirst. But I also know that sunscreen is full of chemicals that diffuse in ocean water and harm aquatic wildlife. I remember going to beaches and lagoons in Hawaii and the Yucatan where there were signs against swimming while wearing sunscreen.

I remember that in the Yucatan, and this was many moons ago, but people were slathering on sunscreen anyway. Hope they’ve wised up.

I was a serial monogamist, perfume-wise, for most of my post-highschool years so there are several candidates for me to choose from — Aliage, Byzance, Anais Anais, Jil Sander No. 4 are the memorable ones. Sadly, the only one I still own is JS4, and with the warm weather we’re going to have I’m not sure I’ll be in the right mood to wear it. Instead, I think I’ll approach the CP from the “what could I live with now” standpoint. There are several candidates there too, and the first that comes to mind is AG Eau d’Hadrien EDT. This will be a fun project!

I was never quite a serial monogamist, but I did usually only have 2 or 3 scents at a time.

Glad you found a fun way to approach the project 🙂

I would find it hard to have a signature scent. It would be like only having one vintage of wine or flavor of ice cream. I do use FM dans tes bras, Oramand Woman, and L’Artisans air brentange a lot, so they would be the closest for me. (Pardon the spelling. I use them often but never have my glasses on to read the label and learn the spelling it seems….)

I always followed Estee Lauder’s advice to have a perfume *wardrobe* but still stuck to mainly one scent at a time. I have several choices for Friday, which is good because my closest signature scent is Coco and it’s getting hot outside, so Coco might be out of the running.
I’m wearing Phlur vanilla hair mist but after a shower, it will be No 5 L’Eau today. Having lunch with a friend and then I have to come home and do some cooking, which is ironic because my lunch will suffice as my meal today. But the husband needs to eat and I like to have some good leftovers on hand. A big meatloaf and my favorite chicken breasts are on the menu.

I wanted to let you know that the Jergens Sandalwood and the Rose Body Butter came yesterday and I really like them both. IMHO the rose one is quite soft. I would probably wear it with one of my rose scents that was not strong or jammy.

I don’t remember if you have Encens Mythique perfume, but it goes perfect with the sandalwood. I have a few other woody fragrances I think it will work with good as well. I love this one! Thanks for telling me about it.

This is a fun cp. And since I just finished my workout, I haven’t sprayed anything yet today. Je Reviens was my signature scent for many years long ago, but I think I’ll save that for Friday.

I’m going with my favorite musk today: Narciso Rodriguez Musc for Her (2007) which could definitely be one of several signature scent possibilities for me. In fact, I think I am of the mindset that one can be known by several fragrances so it doesn’t have to be just one.

For anyone interested in some NR perfume minutiae, this NR Musc is actually an oil in a pour bottle (from 2007 and long discontinued) and due to NR’s terrible naming method, is the subject of much confusion. Elena Vosnaki included it in her Perfume Shrine blog post on various NRs. It’s the 4th picture down, black bottle with pink lettering. This is the one that was supposedly based on Abdoul Karim’s Egyptian Musk oil that Caroline Bessette Kennedy (friend of Narciso Rodriguez) wore.

    https://perfumeshrine.blogspot.com/2009/03/frequent-questions-differences-between.html
And that article is already way out of date (2009) and NR has ensured that the confusion continues!

    Beautiful teapot, Robin.
CP…hmmmmm. When I was younger I had lots of signature scents. I remember Opium and Tatiana as two I loved and sprayed ALL OVER.

The ones that comes closest these days is Indochine, Chergui and Fumerie Turque.

    But not today.

Post shower a few sprays of OJ Damask. This one got me though the summer last year and I have about a half a bottle left.

I used to have a signature scent, Anaïs Anaïs, Paris YSL, L’eau d’Issey and to a lesser extent Roma (Biagiotti) were worn exclusively or almost so until the mid nineties when I started earning and could afford more perfume. I used to own around four or five fragrances at the same time until I got seriously interested in perfume and my collection exploded. That was probably in 2008 or so.

Anyway, my SOTD is Aquadolce by Masque Milano which is nice enough but not memorable.
I got two Masque sample sets and am working my way through them, so far the only one I really enjoy is Romanza.

Extremely windy & warm today as storms move in later and the cooler temps I prefer return tomorrow. But it was a great day to hang laundry outside to dry in the 🌞. Anyone else enjoy doing this as much as I do? My white peonies have opened – two of them joined yesterday’s bouquet – strawberries are ripening, but no sign of any raspberries yet despite vigorous plants.

Tonight’s event prompted my choice of fragrance today, YR Flowerparty, a fun and flirty – and young – scent combining roses, fruits and vanilla. Back-to-back HS graduations for my grandtwins today and tomorrow. Grandson’s is tonight and Flowerparty just seemed like a good one to celebrate my favorite young man. 😍 Neither of my parents were on this earth long enough to even know when their only grandson was born – my son – so I am so very grateful to have experienced the joy of seeing mine grow to young manhood.🙏

    Wishing you joy today! 🌹🌸🍓🍊

I’ve been super into Angel lately. I have some mini bottles that smell close enough to OG Angel, but are not nuclear. As the weather heats up I’ll put it to the back of my tray, but I am all about it for now.

I got a bottle of Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, and it is another easy reach that is fun to reapply. And you can really go for it. I expect to go through my 1oz this summer and get more.

One thing I always do at farmers markets is to ask if they have ‘seconds’ of their fruit, especially tomatoes and apricots and peaches. Those are bruised or blemished fruits that they usually can’t sell for regular prices and that they would otherwise feed to their livestock or just toss so they are happy to sell them at a reduced price. I buy them by the box and make sauces and gazpacho with the tomatoes and jam and crisps with the apricots.

It’s a rather cool day here, with temps in the 50’s. Quite a change from Monday, when it was close to 80. Had some wild weather last night when things cooled off.

Finally chiming in with my SOTD, which has been a tag team of Slumberhouse samples with Jeke and Baque on either arm. Both have strong tobacco themes, they remind me of some of the spicy exotic Lutens fragrances but on steroids. They smell very natural and high quality and last a long time and are uncompromising to mainstream tastes, exactly what I think of with the best small batch niche artisanal fragrances. I can see why they have such a cult following. My favorite from the house remains Norne though. One day I might even own a bottle.

Jeke sounds really good. I am sorry to say I can’t remember if I’ve ever tried anything by Slumberhouse, seems unlikely I haven’t though.

I’m way behind…I meant to comment this morning but then never got there. Too much at work lately, and it all starts quite early in the morning because my management is 3 hours ahead but all the implementation people are on my time.

SOTD was LADDM, which is CP compliant because if I had a signature fragrance post rabbit hole, this would probably be it, or one of the few.

I have older signature fragrances for later this week, though most won’t work with the weather, but I’ll do them anyway.
