Happy Almost-Friday! It's also World Digestive Health Day, National Biscuit Day and JFK’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
It's a bit dreary here, again, and I'm patiently awaiting nicer weather in Comme des Garçons Kyoto. Kyoto is brown, I think, and I don't tend to gravitate towards brown so no points for me today.
Reminder: 5/30 will be Rainbow Friday...wear something that makes you think of your favorite color. Bonus points if the color is in the name! Suggested by pyramus.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Today it’s Bulgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert. I bought the 75-mL bottle when it was launched in 1992 — a third of a century ago! — and it’s still a quarter full and fresh as ever. Probably my favourite bright-green scent ever.
Isn’t it terrific when a Thé suits you! I bought a (150 ml?) Bulgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Bleu a good 15 years ago, and actually finished it recently. Did by another bottle before it disappeared, but have yet to break it out.
I love Thé Vert and finished my first bottle a couple of years ago, and am now working my way through my second, much bigger bottle. Have you ever compared your original Thé Vert with the current version? I wonder if it has been altered much.
I haven’t, but the reviews on Fragrantia make me think that the newer versions are much reduced. Someone compared it unfavourably to Elizabeth Arden Green Tea — ouch!
I am always glad to read confirmations of older perfumes still being good. No doubt you stored it carefully!
Light is the enemy, so I keep everything that isn’t in an opaque container, such as the CSP aluminum canisters, in a freestanding medicine cabinet (not in the bathroom) or a drawer.
And I have much, much older scents than that. I have a bottle of Eau de Courrèges from 1977 that’s in literally perfect condition, and ditto for some Fête de Molyneux and Lancôme Magie from the mid-sixties, just about as old as I am. Some scents just last pretty much forever if they’re treated kindly. (And some die an early death: the little bottle of I Profumi di Firenze Spezie de’ Medici concentrato that I bought in 2015 or so has gone a horrible, murky brown. You can’t predict how they’re going to last.)
Agree!
Such a cool photograph of mushrooms!
We had some very heavy rain and thunderstorms in the morning, but then the sun suddenly appeared in the early afternoon. Now it’s cloudy again.
I’m wearing Hervé Gambs Pink Evidence, which smells pinkish-purplish to me (rose, violet, and iris). It reminds me of YSL Paris, especially the initial rosy blast. But compared to Paris and other lipstick scents, this one is more delicate. It’s not big and bold and stays close to the skin. The scent is powdery with some citrus. It also feels less feminine than your typical violet/rose/iris perfume – maybe because of the yuzu? I think a man could easily pull it off. Like the scent, love the name.
Cloudy here pretty much all day. I miss the sun.
That actually sounds like a fragrance I should try…I love the name too.
Only a few people have mentioned Herve Gambs perfume. Hotel Particulier was love at first sniff for me.
I remember Hotel Particulier! Cosy patchouli vanilla.
Black is one of my favorite colors so I had several choices for today. Since it’s still cloudy and cool, I chose Black Orchid, over Jergens Sandalwood body butter. Note to Kris – the Jergens smells great, not sure if it really smells like sandalwood but it smells woodsy and nutty. Goes nicely with the Tom Ford.
Funny you mention this as I drove all over town looking for the Jergens Citrus body butter just now. Where I usually find it had run out and a few other places didn’t have it either. I finally found it at a grocery store so got three of them🤣I have not found the other ones you mentioned at all. Glad the Jergens Sandalwood worked out. Was lavender or rose the other one you said you saw somewhere? There is a Eucalyptus Mint too.
Lavender, I think. They’re on Amazon and they were on sale this morning for $6 and change, I will look for rose. They are very good quality and you can’t beat the price.
Yes, I see they are on Amazon. They are good quality. I would be curious what the rose would be like. I will probably get the sandalwood after you said you liked it and maybe the rose too. LOL
Sounds like a divine combination!
It’s a very sunny warm day here, and I’ll be outside doing lots of physical labour. I chose Bond 9 Little Italy. I love almost all citrus fragrances and this one is no exception. I think the nose is Francis Camail, who helped Annick Goutal with Eau d’Hadrien. It’s a very fresh and crisp orange scent that has great lasting power. It will settle to a delicate jasmine and musc drydown. I love its cheerful orange star shaped bottle, too.
Hope there’a some sun for everyone today-we’ve had weeks of really grey days and cold weather. The sunshine is so welcome 🙂
Little Italy was a good one.
After our rather hot day yesterday, this morning it’s chilly and drizzly and I’m feeling whiplashed by the seesaw weather. So the hand went to one of my most soothing scents, Carthusia 1681. If it has a color, I think it’s lavender, which isn’t one of its notes but seems like it could be. 1681 has lots of herbals along with iris and black pepper and sandalwood, and quite good lasting power on me.
I liked that one too, and can see it being soothing.
I had intended to honour another favourite colour, antique pink, today, but as I am not at my best in the morning I forgot to put on Heure Exquise and am wearing Scherrer (green) instead. I love green, so there is no harm in honouring the same colour two days in a row.
Honestly I didn’t know what antique pink was and had to google it 🙂
Me too, because I didn’t know what it was called in English.
I definitely went through some 80’s perfume nostalgia while I was in Paris. I didn’t realize it until I examined the perfumes I’d amassed. Today’s new purchase blast from the past is Divine by Divine. By no means Giorgio, but also not exactly ‘not Giorgio’ 😉😂🌺
It’s appropriately big, though probably not quite as loud as Giorgio (which I have never smelled). Did you visit one of those lovely Divine shops?
Yes! Near Place des Vosges. Very sweet man sent me off with a zillion samples. I think he was a little dismayed that I bought such a retro frag—but he did try to get me to purchase the intense version, but I demurred.
It used to be near Opéra, but this seems an improvement, Place des Vosges is so nice.
I loved Giorgio
Lemme know if you want to try Divine then!
Divine is lovely, the shops are lovely too!
Love Divine EdP! If I were in Paris and had the chance, I’d probably get it too.
Wearing a beautiful white linen cotton blend blazer and thought FM Carnal Flower would fit this color match beautifully.
Volunteering later today ..
You smelled great today ltsg!
My favorite color is green and I’m full-on with the CP today by wearing A Taste of Heaven from By Kilian. It’s a very green juice and a fabulous fougere. (I want to say, a fabulous ferny fougere, ha ha ha.) It’s quite unusual in my experience for its lavender-wormwood combination, making it up front a distinct, attention-hogging smell. Wormwood is what goes into absinthe, so now I’m flashing back to images of Winona Ryder in Coppola’s wonderful version of Dracula getting all intoxicated while drinking dreamy green absinthe with her Dracula played by the (unexpectedly) dreamy Gary Oldman. I do love that version of the story, although the ending is messed up and weak. I still have several refill vials of this fragrance. It’s hard to use it up because it’s just, well, weird. I love the experience of it but don’t want it that often.
I remember seeing Dracula in the theater. I loved Winona and Keanu together.
I remember seeing that version of Dracula in the movie theater with a bunch of college friends. Had a blast!
I’m wearing Fragonard Fleur d’Oranger edt, a Paris purchase. It’s lovely and not too heavy for summer wear.
I was given a sample of it in the shop! Will test it next hot and sunny day.
I have only mental color today in Chanel Paris -Biarritz fragrance and lotion.
It looks sunny, blue, warm.
The caps on both these bottles boinged across the room. Hmmmm. A sign to use up.
My sister made me join REI when I was visiting her. And go to the gym.
I have gone four times since I came home and just laced up my shoes again to go.
No excuses – have to be strong for this new old age.
Good for you apsara!
I should follow your example and exercise more.
I am a poor example, Jalapeno.
That is my motto apsara! I am a more consistent gym-goer now than I was at any point in my life.
It’s a cool, mizzling day, and I am wearing Elixer des Merveilles. I’ll say it’s sand-coloured, since salt water has no colour at all,
Good pairing
You smell wonderful!
Since one of my favorite colors is blue, I decided to go with Hiris today. There is a blue label on the bottle plus some iris have a blue coloring to them.
How does Hiris compare to your other iris perfumes?
I think it has a little bite to it, which is probably the coriander in it. It reminds me of Gallivant Bukhara if you have ever tried that. If not, it is brighter and greener than any of the other iris scents that I currently have on hand.
“Brighter and greener” is a good descriptor, since I haven’t really tried much in the way of iris. Still making friends with that note, TBH.
I seem to like iris done in the style of Chanel No. 19.
I’m wearing TF’s Noir de Noir this morning, it’s got a colour in the name and it’s a rich and deep scent that feels appropriate for this dull morning.
Points for you Gaynor 🙂
I’m in Un Jardin sur le Nil today, for the green bottle and greenness overall. I probably should have worn what I was going to wear tomorrow today instead, because the weather’s somewhat gloomy, and I think tomorrow will be nicer. But oh well, my perfumes will just be the opposite of the weather. 🙂
That could be an interesting CP. “Wear a perfume that’s the opposite of what you would normally wear for a certain type of weather.”
I’m doing brown today too because after ordering that limited Fzotic perfume and having much cooler earlier here today, I wanted to wear a perfume with dark juice, the kind that may stain your skin some. So I’m in the very dark brown Les Indemodables Vanille Havane, which has grown on my every time I’ve worn it. It’s very rich and a little goes a long way so I still have at least one more wearing in my sample. I think I’ll buy a decant of this soon unless anyone here has it and feels like a quick decant swap?
I didn’t get to read yesterday’s post until this morning but I unknowingly celebrated National Hamburger Day by going out to eat at a local restaurant’s Burgerama night that they did every Wednesday in May, which involves cheaper burgers. They used to run it every single Wednesday before covid. My mushroom Swiss burger was amazing. Oh, and my perfume juice color yesterday was a pretty yellow-green, and it was the refreshing Regime des Fleurs Cacti.
Definitely want to hear about your new Fzotic when it shows up!
yep, ditto that!!
I’m at the car mechanics getting my oil changed. I have a bad feeling he’s going to tell me I have an oil leak.
I picked up a new BBW lotion called Off the Vine. It has tomato and geranium notes. It also comes in perfume. It smells really good. My sotd is L’ombre dans L’eau. I would match it with the color green, which is a favorite color of mine.
I should seek that out as I do love a good tomato and geranium perfume. Cute name too.
Hope you luck out at the car mechanic.
I’m hoping the perfume will be on sale during the upcoming semi-annual sale.
Oy about the car. Hoping you get good news!
Hajusuuri, you won’t believe it but he said everything looked good!
I triple asked him because I thought for sure he was mistaken. I call this a win for the day!
Absolutely a win, hurray lillyjo!
I think I love tomatoes more on the vine and on my plate than on my skin, but it could be I just haven’t found the right tomato leaf fragrance yet! But I can’t wait to split a case of farmer’s market tomatoes with my Russian friend and start making the season’s first gazpacho and throwing tomatoes into everything I cook.
I’m actually not very familiar with tomato in perfume. I might start seeking some out.
I love to eat tomatoes too.
Best tomato leaf fragrance I know is CBIHP Memory of Kindness. It really nails it. Doesn’t last terribly long, though.
Fingers crossed for no leak, Lillyjo. I love your pairing and green is a favorite color for me too.
No leak! Woo-hoo!
There’s so many variations of Green. It can work with almost anything.
Awesome news about your car!
For sure!
I was at BBW the other day and tried Off the Vine and really liked it, something different for a change. Didn’t buy any, but probably will at some point.
Ostara today for it golden goodness☀️
It is golden, hope your weather matched!
It started drizzly and turned a lovely golden this afternoon.
its😊
Bottega original for me today.
Have missed this one! I find if I use just a dabs worth I can get away with wearing this at home around my husband.
WFH has really messed with my perfume usage. I’m sure I’m not alone.
Ha, possibly the only drawback!
Smelling wonderful today, even with the ramped down application! 😉
SOTD = Prada Purple Rain
Fabulous iris … need to wear this more often! 💜 When it first came out, there were naysayers who said why would you buy something for double / triple the price of others with the same smell? Well … let’s just say I didn’t trade a meal for this, it is smoother and more refined AND I am still a fan of the original “siblings” (Absolue, the EDT and the EDP).
PLUS: it fits the CP!
https://www.instagram.com/p/DKQGQ7iRnIo/?igsh=eWxleTVveDhodXA2
There’s a lot to be said for smoother and more refined. I’m sure you smell awesome!
Thank you! Indeed I do. I only did the half-hajusuuri treatment and it is still smelling mighty fine.
oh this is one that totally passed me by, never even heard of it, but I love the name and the alliteration. Prada Purple Rain
It may still be available although I haven’t looked for it. That said, it’s funny how you mentioned alliteration as I was just thinking that!
Your owl looks rather feline today, IMO.
I’ve always thought that owls = cats so you are absolutely right!
I’m getting several ideas from fellow NSTers for tomorrow’s CP. Accidentally compliant as I was looking at languishing samples, saw the word “musc” and realized I’d grabbed Guerlain’s Musc Outreblanc. After a day of painting, I am afraid my nose is broken. Add that to M. Jelk’s airy touch, and I may have to wait to smell something. I liked the little bit I did smell at first spritz!
I remember I had trouble smelling Outreblanc, but I did like it.
At dinner, I was getting some very nice wafts. But I don’t think MO is going to win me over the way Iris Torrefie did. And in the modern musk family, I’ve yet to find better than Mugler Over the Musk, which is now a unicorn. My go-to is SL Clair de Musc.
Smoothie is two white nectarines again.
Chose Caron Les plus belles lavandes which I like quite a bit but I use Lavande Velours more I think, tonight it’s Burberry Black for the CP.
Smelling great tonight Aurora!
Thank you Lillyjo, IIRC you and I are the only ones who identified Burberry Black as a great perfume, without duty-free random sampling I would never even have tried it.
Accidental SOTD is Child perfume, a pikake jasmine monster. This was all the rage on MakeupAlley 15 years ago, and I’m sure I smelled it then but I could not remember. But now it’s at some of the shops (Anthropologie) and someone gave me a sample. Big white florals aren’t my thing, but if they were, this would hit the spot. So my color today is white, for the pikake flower, and the blinding white radiance that is Child.
I remember Child! And it was a “big thing” back in the day.
I was commando for part of the day since I had an eye appointment this afternoon. First time at the new provider, and it worked out really well. I go back in June for a couple of extra tests for issues I am already aware of. It’s just to get a baseline for future reference. My brother’s recommendations have been 2 for 2 so far, LOL.
Had a break from rain today. The drought map is looking much better in my area. Now if only the Western Slope could get some help…
SOTD = Etro Dianthus EdT. I put this on after I got home from my appointment. Aurora got a well-deserved Enabler Pin for this! So pretty!! 😍 Can’t decide if it matches red, hot pink, or fuchsia.
Your brother is so helpful!
Yes, he is. He’s also very loyal (if you have earned it). But heaven help the person that crosses him! 😬
Glad your eye appt. is over! I don’t think I’ve ever tried Etro even though I’ve heard of the brand.
I have another one in early June. Plus I will be picking out new frames, since I have decided it’s time for progressive lenses. My current glasses are single vision.
Etro is definitely worth trying! I currently own 4 of their perfumes. There’s an 80’s vibe to the ones I have that I enjoy very much.
Glad you are taking care of those peepers! Extra glad you have a wonderful sib standing by. I don’t know what I’d do without mine!
Thanks MossyBerry! SO glad that my brother and I get along.
Is this a safe blind buy? It sounds good.
To me it is a spicy, lightly powdery floral with some natural sweetness. It’s on the feminine side. For a carnation scent it’s on the tame side.
So I guess it depends on if you like carnation as a note.
I’ll wear it with pride, congratulations on your new bottle.
Thanks Aurora!
Book discussion group this morning at the library then chores at home, mostly weeding, weeding, weeding. SOTD was Pacifica Mediterranean Fig, a couple of spritzes lasted all day. I guess it’s a green perfume, but I think of fig as being deep purple. I like both colors.
Robin you’re wrong. You did earn points today, points for the future cp – wear a scent that reminds you of a color that’s not your favorite or one you seldom wear! 😸
